Canadian welterweight prospect Jordan Mein (21-7) will face DREAM welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis (14-5, 1 no contest) in the main event of theScore Fighting Series June 10 event, officials announced Wednesday. Zaromskis’ title will not be on the line.

Nicknamed “Young Guns,” Mein has won his last four fights in a row, which includes notable victories over veterans Joe Riggs and Josh Burkman.

Zaromskis hasn’t fared too well since winning the DREAM 170-pound title 2009. Since then, he’s gone 2-2, with one no contest, which includes his Strikeforce welterweight title loss to Nick Diaz in January 2010. He most recently got back on the winning track when he defeated Kazushi Sakuraba at Dynamite!! 2010.

Other veterans scheduled to fight on the card include Joe Doerksen, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Antonio Carvalho.

The event takes place at The Hershey Centre in Mississaugau, Ontario, on June 10.

Former UFC competitors Joe Doerksen and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou are among the notable names on the June 10 “theScore Fighting Series” card in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

The event promoter, the company behind Canada’s the Score sports television network, announced Wednesday the event as well as the the participation of Doerksen, Sokoudjou, Antonio Carvalho, Jordan Mein, Adrian Wooley, Jorge Britto, Josh Hill, Will Romero, Tyler Hardcastle, Denis Puric and Alex Ricci. Opponents are to be announced.

On a weekend where former NFL star Herschel Walker made news for picking up his second MMA victory at the age of 48, MMA’s own elder statesman Dan Severn won his 97th fight on an Elite-1 MMA event in New Brunswick, Canada.

The 52-year-old Severn put Scott Fraser (3-2) away with an arm-triangle submission to take the promotion’s heavyweight title, extending his win streak to eight and improving his record to 97-16-7.
