Mike Perry, Julian Lane

Former UFC fighter Mike Perry and former The Ultimate Fighter participant Julian Lane nearly came to blows during the BKFC press conference ahead of their fight.

Perry and Lane exchanged their fair share of trash talk during their pre-fight presser ahead of their fight at Knucklemania 2 this weekend. The two have been on each other’s nerves for months, including an all-out brawl cageside at a recent BKFC Fight Night event in Tampa.

What was initially a verbal affair between Perry and Lane nearly turned physical as Perry pulled out a toy baseball bat and got up to walk towards Lane. But, security was able to intervene and separate the two sides as the presser came to a close.

Check out the incident below.

Mike Perry Pulled Out A Bar For His Faceoff With Julian Lane

Perry signed with BKFC following losses in four of his last five appearances in the UFC. This includes most recently in a unanimous decision defeat to Daniel Rodriguez last April at a UFC Fight Night event.

It was unclear what Perry’s future in combat sports would be going forward before he fought at a recent Triller Triad Combat event, winning his bout. He would then sign with BKFC in hopes of a new chapter in his fighting career.

Lane will enter the BKFC cage after trading wins and losses with the promotion. After falling in his BKFC debut against Leonard Garcia, he would go on to earn wins over the likes of Jake Bostwick and Tom Shoaff.

Perry and Lane will compete in the BKFC’s welterweight division and have a chance to move up in the title conversation. Both men are looking to get back on track after recent losses, and their added heat at their pre-fight press conference is sure to entertain fans.

Mike Perry and Julian Lane will take their feud to the ring Feb.19 in BKFC’s second installment of ‘Knucklemania’.

Perry and Lane had recently gotten in a scuffle as Perry was guest commentating for a BKFC event. Lane threw something at ‘Platinum’ and hit him in the face and followed up by hurling insults at him. The two were then caught on video fighting ringside in the crowd.

Perry had announced that he would be fighting on the card Thursday, but an opponent was not named. According to MMA Fighting, a person close to the negotiations told them that Lane would be the opponent in the upcoming match. The bout was reported by Chris Taylor via Twitter as well.

Mike Perry last fought at Triad Combat and beat boxer Michael Seals via split decision

Seals had a record of 25-3 going into the fight against Perry. Perry represented MMA that night in the MMA vs boxing matchups, and did so with pride. Perry fought out his contract with the UFC and ended with a record of 7-8 in the UFC. He was once a young and promising prospect, but many things including not having coaches octagon side led to his downfall. His last fight inside the octagon was against Daniel Rodriguez where he suffered a unanimous decision loss. he finished his last five fights with a 1-4 record.

He left the UFC in hopes to find more money elsewhere and he may be capitalizing on that with everything he has been doing recently. Perry is and always has been a fan favorite within the MMA community. Lane on the other hand, is a MMA veteran who appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 16. He has a record of 2-3 in BKFC and lost his last fight to David Rickels.

Mike Perry has made his bare-knuckle debut at little sooner than anticipated.

On Thursday at  BKFC Fight Night: Tampa, Perry was talking with the commentary team of Sean Wheelock and Chris Lytle about his switch from the UFC to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

During the conversation something is thrown at ‘Platinum’ and it hits him directly in the face. TUF legend and BKFC fighter Julian Lane was the culprit and he continued to hurl insults at Perry in the immediate aftermath. Perry, who is never shy when it comes to a scrap, removed his headset and darted towards Lane before the two men started brawling.

Check out footage of the incident…

Mike Perry Is Trying To Get His Career Back On Track

‘Platinum’ was once one of the most exciting prospects in the UFC, known for his wild fighting style and serious knockout power. After starting his career with 11 wins and just one defeat, Perry has lost 7 of his last 10 fights and was recently let go by MMA’s premier promotion.

Perry got off to a great start to life outside the UFC at Triller Triad Combat when he beat professional boxer Michael Seals by split decision.

The former UFC welterweight prospect has also signed a contract to compete in BKFC and it now appears Lane is the first man he will bang with in the bare-knuckle boxing ring.

Mike Perry and Julian Lane will be settling their beef at the February 19 Knucklemania event in Hollywood, Florida.

Tuesday, MMA reporter Chris Taylor first broke the news of this upcoming scrap, and it has since been confirmed by multiple sources. This announcement comes after Lane was unwilling to take no for an answer after challenging Perry to a fight earlier this year.

How This Odd Pairing Came Together

In October, Mike Perry announced that he would be joining the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship ranks. Here’s some of what Perry had to say in the official press release that announced his arrival:

“I will dismantle the opposition and reach the glory I have longed for my entire life. I will be crowned king of the streets and king of combat sports! They will make me a Platinum Crown and carry me on the bloody backs of my defeated rivals! I am here to go straight to the top and make anyone think twice about entering my world! BKFC is my world!”

Within hours of this announcement, former Ultimate Fighter contest Julian Lane, aka the ‘Let me bang, bro’ guy of MMA lore, volunteered to be the first man to “oppose” Perry in the BKFC. Unfortunately, Lane’s desire to bang was rebuffed, just like long times.

At BKFC Tampa last month, Perry made an appearance to do some commentary. However, he was being harassed by Lane, who was throwing material at Perry from the audience. This led to Perry exiting the commentating table to confront him.

Here is a glimpse of what happened when the two came face to face.

Now, we know that this brawl will spill into the ring next month.

Lane is 3-4 in bare-knuckle boxing and had been booked against Kaleb Harris on January 29 prior to this switch-up. Meanwhile, Perry recently defeated experienced boxer Michael Seals at Triller’s Triad Combat in November.

“Just let me bang bro!”

Words equal in both hilarity and infamy and are known to UFC fans of all ages and locations. The man who uttered these famous words, TUF Season 16 and 25 alumni Julian Lane, has just stepped up his association with this incident in both a big and permanent way.

So, what occurred on the night of this legendary moment for Julian Lane?

The 12-9-1 fighter, forever loved, laughed at, but never forgotten for those famous words has decided to pay permanent homage to those very words – by getting a huge side tattoo done of those very words. For those who (somehow) have never seen said incident, Lane, already eliminated from the competition, got madly drunk and decided to try and fight everyone – and everything….

Over the course of the evening, Julian Lane pretty much tried to fight anyone who fell into his view – including TUF alumni Sam Alvey and Neil Magny. He also tried to fight a wall. Yes, that actually happened. But the most memorable exchange occurred when fellow contestant Michael Hill tried to hold Lane back and save him from himself, at which point Lane roared “Just let me bang, bro!” This was followed immediately by Hill reassuring Lane that “I do let you bang”, alongside a comforting brace. Quite a beautiful moment of reality television encased within quite awkward hilarity – something only the confines of the TUF house could ever manage to create.

Following his brief but epic appearance on TUF, Lane went 11-6-1 before getting his second chance to bang on TUF, this time on season 25. Unfortunately for Lane, he fought Season 13 finalist Ramsey Nijem, and suffered a 1st round TKO loss.

Julian Lane then turned his attention to the world of bare-knuckle boxing following going 1-3 in his last four MMA bouts. He has actually enjoyed more success in this realm, going 3-4 against names like Thiago Alves, David Rickels, Jim Alers and Leonard Garcia.

Alongside his new tattoo, Lane has also teased potential fight news dropping quite soon. Irrespective of who said opponent will be, I think we can all rest easy knowing that Julian Lane will most definitely come to bang.

What do you make of Julian Lane’s new tattoo?

With Mike Perry signing to BKFC he has a lot of options in front of him, but Julian Lane may not be one of them.

Perry shocked the MMA world with the announcement that he was leaving the UFC and had signed to BKFC. Sure, he had only won three of his last ten fights, but he is always an exciting fighter to watch with a unique personality to boot.

Nevertheless, Perry is set to make the transition to BKFC, with some notable names in the bare-knuckle circuit already calling him out. One of these people is two-time Ultimate Fighter alum Julian Lane, known better as the “Let me bang, bro” guy, who has a 3-4 record in bare-knuckle boxing and called out the former UFC fighter on Instagram.

“Mike platinum Perry signs to @bareknucklefc ?????? Should I let him bang? ????????” Lane wrote.

However, it seems that Mike Perry is not particularly interested in this specific matchup. When asked about it on The MMA Hour, he gave the most on-brand response imaginable, saying that he was not interested in facing someone who would want to do the things that Lane does.

“I don’t know a sensitive way to say it. I’m a little homophobic when it comes to MMA fighting callouts. I don’t want my opponents to want to bang, bro. So I’m a little hesitant with that one. I mean, we can make any fight happen, though. Whoever Bare Knuckle (makes) happen, but I want to get slim pickings because that’s one fight, and there’s other guys too,” Perry said.

At this point in time, there is no indication on when Mike Perry will make his BKFC debut or who it will be against. That said, BKFC President Dave Feldman has said he is willing to give the former UFC fighter an immediate title shot, so a fight with Julian Lane seems unlikely at this point.
