Justin Gaethje promises violent fight with Max Holloway at UFC 300 the doctor's gonna have to stop it

Ahead of his massive symbolic BMF championship fight with Max Holloway next weekend at UFC 300, former interim lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje has promised a “violent” fight with the Hawaiian, predicting a doctor’s stoppage finish.

Gaethje, the current number two ranked lightweight contender and former interim titleholder, has been sidelined since he turned in an hellacious second round high-kick KO win over common-foe, Dustin Poirier back in July at UFC 291, landing the symbolic BMF crown.

And as for Holloway, the former dominant featherweight gold holder turned in his second straight win at UFC Singapore last summer, stopping Chan Sung Jung with a brutal walk-off knockout win, which followed a decision success against Arnold Allen.

Justin Gaethje plots doctor’s stoppage TKO win over Max Holloway

Sharing his thoughts on his symbolic title fight with the fan-favorite next weekend on the main card of UFC 300, Gaethje claimed a “violent” clash was in store for onlookers in ‘Sin City’ – predicting a doctor’s stoppage win over the former featherweight champion.

Justin Gaethje

“No one steals the show quite like ‘The Highlight’,” Justin Gaethje said during the UFC 300 promotional release. “Carnage, chaos, probably some blood and adrenaline coursing though the veins, that is what you are going to get from me. My ability to create damage is second to none. Max Holloway is a legend, probably the only person on the UFC roster that checks every single box of being a BMF so I have a lot of respect for him.”

“However, this is my job and I’m going to try and f*ck him up,” Justin Gaethje explained. “I will finish Max, he may not go away the traditional way, but I think I will inflict damage to where the doctors need to stop it [the fight]. We are about to paint a violent picture and no two better guys to go out there and put on a show.”

With a win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, Max Holloway isn’t ruling out the possibility of a fight with reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

On Saturday, April 13, ‘Blessed’ will step inside the Octagon for what many are calling the people’s main event. The former featherweight titleholder will look to claim the promotion’s bragging rights belt, the BMF title, when he meets another beloved fan favorite inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

But a win over ‘The Highlight’ won’t just net Holloway a cool new belt to put on his mantle. It could also thrust him into the lightweight division’s top five, setting the stage for a potential shot at the division’s top prize.

“I’m in a place where first things first is Gaethje, but if I got out there and get my hand raised like I plan on doing, there’s a lot of fights that can be there for us — one of them being the [155 pound] champ which I think it would be a fun one,” Holloway told Kevin Iole during a recent interview.

This will be Max Holloway’s second time fighting at lightweight, his first coming against Dustin Poirier at UFC 236 — exactly five years from the day he returns to the division later this month.

‘Blessed’ saw his 13-fight win streak snapped at the hands of ‘The Diamond’ before retreating back to 145 for a trilogy of classic clashes with Alexander Volkanovski.

Justin Gaethje believes Max Holloway will be too tough for his own good at uFC 300

As for Max Holloway’s UFC 300 opponent, Justin Gaethje is practically teed up for one last shot at Makhachev’s lightweight gold, but a loss to ‘Blessed’ could put a wrinkle in those plans. The Highlight’ has won four of his last six, the two losses coming against then-champions Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira, making an all but guaranteed showdown with the ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ his last opportunity to claim UFC gold.

Justin Gaethje

Well aware of the stakes at play, Gaethje plans on using the Octagon canvas to paint a masterpiece of violence and mayhem with Holloway’s blood at UFC 300.

“Max Holloway is a legend, probably the only person on the UFC roster that checks every single box of being a BMF so I have a lot of respect for him,” Gaethje said during a promotional video for their upcoming clash. “However, this is my job and I’m going to try and f*ck him up. I will finish Max, he may not go away the traditional way, but I think I will inflict damage to where the doctors need to stop it. We are about to paint a violent picture and no two better guys to go out there and put on a show.”

Holloway is moving up to lightweight to face Justin Gaethje for his BMF title in a highly-anticipated bout. It’s a fight fans have wanted to see for years and the two will finally fight next weekend.

In the first BMF title fight, The Rock handed the belt to Jorge Masvidal who beat Nate Diaz. The second time the belt was up for grabs was last July and Masvidal awarded the belt to Justin Gaethje, who defeated Dustin Poirier.

Now, for the third time the BMF belt is awarded, Max Holloway is calling for Mark Coleman to award the belt to the winner of him vs. Justin Gaethje.

“The only correct answer is Mark Coleman,” Holloway said in an interview with MMA Junkie. “Especially with what he went through recently with his dog and his dog waking him to go save his stuff and he goes in there and runs for his dog? The guy’s a G. That’s a real life BMF. That would be sick if he did it. It would be an honor to get him to do it.”

Of course, Coleman just got out of the hospital after saving his parents from a house fire. It was a heroic effort from Coleman and having him award the BMF title would be special, and Holloway is hoping to make it happen.

Although Max Holloway is getting the chance to fight for the BMF belt, he says he is more excited to fight Justin Gaethje.

Holloway says he gets excited about these types of fights and is looking forward to sharing the Octagon with a future Hall of Famer in Gaethje.

“The belt is the belt – the belt is cool – it’s whatever,” Holloway said. “The things that can come with the belt can be life-changing, so we’ll see what happens. But I’m more excited that I get to share the Octagon with Gaethje. It’s amazing. It’s amazing to share the Octagon with a future Hall of Famer in him and, title or no title, being able to fight him is one of the best things I’m looking forward to.”

Holloway enters the fight as a +180 underdog.

Former UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway explains decision to take Justin Gaethje fight rather than wait for a potential title shot.

Holloway is under a month out from his clash at UFC 300 against ‘The Highlight’. While an exciting clash, the booking came out of the blue and actually left some a little concerned for Max Holloway, who will be moving up in weight.

Last time he did so, he was soundly beaten by Dustin Poirier which left him bloody and swollen. Holloway is also riding back-to-back wins over Chan Sung Jung and Arnold Allen, leaving him as a front-runner for a shot at Ilia Topuria and his title.

Topuria knocked out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 and with an immediate rematch unlikely, Holloway seemed a viable candidate. Aside from both Volkanovski and Topuria, Holloway has practically cleared out the rest of the top featherweights but instead chose to take on Gaethje.

Max Holloway reveals reason for UFC 300 fight with Justin Gaethje

Taking on his YouTube channel, Holloway explained why –

“There’s a lot of people talking about like, ‘Oh, this fight is crazy, Why you guys are doing this fight?’” Max Holloway said. “‘Why, why Max? Why don’t you just wait for Topuria? Why don’t you just wait?’ Not a lot of people know: this game, it goes by you fast, man. It goes by you quick.”

Holloway’s clash against Gaethje will be his 30th UFC fight and is experience enough to understand the MMA game. It moves quick, anything can happen.

“Nothing is promised. How many times do we see someone promised a title shot and it never happened? Holloway questioned. “How much time do you see someone fight for an interim title shot and it never happens? Me and Gaethje were the next guys respectfully up in our title shot. Correct? But how many times does that work? It doesn’t work all the time. So with the Topuria thing everybody keeps saying, ‘Oh, you’re the next one.’ It’s like, am I really?

“I thought this whole time that if Topuria beat Volk in any way, Volk gets a direct rematch,” he continued. “Volk did enough work to earn himself a direct rematch. And everybody’s like, ‘Oh yeah, but after the knockout,’ and blah blah. Volk still earns it. He still earns it. He did what he did. He has a bunch of title defensive. Just because he went up a weight class and lost, I don’t think it should affect him at his own weight class.”

Slated to make his return at UFC 300 in a massive symbolic BMF championship fight against Max Holloway next month, former interim lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje has warned the Hawaiian that when it comes to “creating damage” inside the Octagon – he’s the supreme.

Gaethje, a former interim lightweight champion and the current symbolic BMF titleholder, is set to make his return to the Octagon next month on the main card of UFC 300, taking on Holloway – fresh off a scintillating high-kick KO win over recent big-winner, Dustin Poirier last July.

And previewing his fan-friendly fight with Holloway for symbolic BMF spoils next month, Gaethje has warned the former that he’s facing an opponent who knows how to create damage the most efficiently in the sport.

“I don’t take anything from the past and apply it to the situation that I’m going to be in,” Justin Gaethje told UFC.com during a recent interview. “I think that the same case could be said for Tony Ferguson. And no one had ever knocked out Dustin Poirier like that. I promise you that. I’m the best at creating damage.”

“If I go in there [at UFC 300], and fight my fight, stay calm, happiness, anger, no emotion can help me in there. I gotta be clearheaded, focused. There’s nothing like being under these lights. I live for it, and more so than most. I’m excited, I’m going to be ready for it.”

The countdown to UFC 300 has begun!

On Saturday, April 13, the Las Vegas-based promotion will present its next big landmark event, UFC 300, live from the familiar confines of T-Mobile Arena in Sin City. To get fans hyped for one of the biggest fight cards in MMA history, Ultimate Fighting Championship has released an epic trailer featuring the card’s biggest names.

In the main event of the evening, reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will put his gold on the line against former titleholder Jamahal Hill. It will be Hill’s first time competing since he won the belt with a dominant performance against Glover Teixeira in January 2023. ‘Sweet Dreams’ was forced to vacate the title after sustaining an Achilles injury last summer, never having the opportunity to defend his crown.

That ultimately led to a clash between Pereira and former champion Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 to crown a new king of the division. ‘Poatan’ came out on top, scoring yet another highlight-reel knockout in the second round of their co-main event.

Strawweight champion Zhang Weili returns in the uFC 300 co-Main Event

She’ll look to deliver a similar result against Yan, a 17-3 fighter with noteworthy wins against Mackenzie Dern and Jessica Andrade in her last two outings.

UFC 300

And what is being touted as the people’s main event, BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje puts his bragging rights belt on the line against former featherweight champion Max Holloway in a battle between two of the greatest strikers in all of mixed martial arts.
