Dana White confirms post-fight bonus winners will receive $300,000 checks at UFC 300 It's done

Following a request for a massive increase in post-fight bonus pursues for Performance of the Night – or Fight of the Night honors at UFC 300 this weekend from former interim champion, Justin Gaethje – promotional CEO, Dana White has confirmed victors will receive $300,000 checks, opposed to a standard $50,000 payday.

Set to return to tentpole status this weekend, the organization host a massive UFC 300 card, featuring a pair of undisputed championship fight clashes, as well as a symbolic title showdown – featuring the above-mentioned, Gaethje.

And making his comeback in attempt of his first defense of the symbolic BMF crown, Gaethje welcomes former featherweight champion, Max Holloway back to action – in the Hawiian’s sophomore outing at the lightweight class.

Ahead of fight night, earlier this month, Gaethje – who predicted a “violent” doctor’s stoppage TKO win over Holloway, urged the promotion to increase the usual post-fight bonus checks from a standard $50,000 – to a sum of $300,000 – in honor of the card.

Upon questioning from MMA Junkie reporter, Mike Bohn at tonight’s pre-fight press conference at the MGM Grand, White confirmed post-fight bonus victors – of Performance of the Night honors, and Fight of the Night honors, would receive a massive $300,000 check.

Justin Gaethje blames pre-fight concussion for lackluster performance against Charles Oliveira

Nearly two years removed from his last lightweight title opportunity, Justin Gaethje offered an explanation for his lackluster performance against ‘Do Bronx’ at UFC 274.

Taking a page out of Ronda Rousey’s book, ‘The Highlight’ revealed during a recent appearance on the Pound 4 Pound podcast with Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo that he was still suffering the effects of a concussion going into his title fight with Charles Oliveira.

Charles Oliveira submits Justin Gaethje

“I mean, I honestly had, 18 days before [fighting Oliveira], I had got a concussion riding a bike, you know. That’s not something I need to talk about, want to talk about. I said he’s the hardest guy that’s ever punched me but that was a factor, you know… 18 days before I smacked my head off the concrete but I was so ready and so willing, you know.

“The fight was at home and I’ve never pulled out of a fight, and you know I didn’t even think about for a second to pull out of the fight. But that’s why those strikes were so effective, I also got caught up in the moment and that was the last lesson I needed to learn I will never let that happen again I might lose again.”

Justin Gaethje ready to roll through UFC 300 en route to a lightweight title opportunity

Gaethje still hopes to capture the lightweight title one day, but for now, his focus is on keeping the BMF belt he claimed with a brilliant second-round head-kick KO in July.

On Saturday, April 13, ‘The Highlight’ will put his bragging rights belt on the line when he meets Dana White’s all-time favorite featherweight, Max Holloway. Dubbed by pundits as “the people’s main event” of UFC 300, Gaethje vs. Holloway has been a massive selling point for fight fans who were left less than impressed with the top of the card.

Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway

By all accounts, Gaethje is locked in for a lightweight title opportunity win or lose at UFC 300. However, if ‘Blessed’ pulls off something truly stunning in Sin City, it could knock ‘The Highlight’ back down the queue and pave the way for Holloway’s entry into the top five at 155.

Islam Makhachev snapped back at former featherweight champion Max Holloway.

Earlier this month, ‘Blessed’ criticized the lightweight titleholder for choosing to sit on the sidelines rather than opting to fight the next man in line for a shot at the 155-pound crown, Justin Gaethje.

You should’ve fought Justin in February,” Holloway said on the MIGHTYcast with Demetrious Johnson. “Why did the guy you knocked out turn around so fast and fight in February? I mean, you were healthy. You should’ve turned around and came [back in] February.

Makhachev didn’t take kindly to Holloway butting his nose into a division he’s not part of and encouraged the BMF challenger to do a little homework the next time he wants to run his mouth.

For the record: since 2021 I fought 7 times, while Holloway did 5 fights and Justin just 4. Do your homework before talking trash about your champ,” Makhachev wrote on X.

Holloway’s five fights since 2021 have come against Calvin Kattar, former interim champion Yair Rodriguez, Arnold Allen, The Korean Zombie, and ex-featherweight king Alexander Volkavnoski. Gaethjes’ four fights were against Michael Chandler, Rafael Fiziev, Dustin Poirier, and then-lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

Makhachev may have fought more, but you certainly can’t argue with the strength of schedule for ‘The Highlight’ and Holloway.

This Saturday night (April 13), Max Holloway will return to the Octagon at UFC 300 for a BMF title clash with the holder of the promotion’s bragging rights belt, Justin Gaethje.

Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway

Despite there being two legitimate championship fights atop the loaded lineup in Sin City, Holloway’s scrap with Gaethje has been at the forefront of marketing the landmark event — something that has not gone unnoticed.

“Every time I see an ad on UFC for UFC 300, it’s me and Justin,” Holloway remarked during Wednesday’s UFC media event. “So, at the end of the day, [my manager] Tim, Daniel, someone needs to get on the phone with Dana White, Hunter [Campbell], and we gotta talk numbers about some things. Because it’s looking kinda funny.”

Considering UFC CEO Dana White just dubbed ‘Blessed’ the “greatest featherweight of all time,” it would appear as though all the bargaining chips are on Holloway’s side of the table.

To say Justin Gaethje doesn’t look beyond his next fight is a bit of an understatement.

On Saturday night (April 13), ‘The Highlight’ will step inside the Octagon for the first time since scoring a highlight-reel second-round head-kick KO against Dustin Poirier in July. On that night, Gaethje claimed the BMF title. Next, he’ll put the bragging rights belt up for grabs when he meets former featherweight champion Max Holloway in a bout being dubbed by pundits as “the people’s main event” of UFC 300.

Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway

Speaking with media members during Wednesday’s UFC media event, Gaethje was asked about any potential fights he’s hoping to book before laying down his gloves for good.

“I’m a quarter-mile at a time kind of guy,” Gaethje said. “I do not look too far ahead. Honestly, I have no clue what the future holds. I don’t usually plan on being alive the day after my fights, so hopefully I’m there on Sunday.”

A win over Justin Gaethje could open to door to a 155-pound title opportunity for ‘blessed’

Gaethje goes into UFC 300 with a lightweight title opportunity hanging in the balance. While he’s already regarded by most as the next man in line to challenge reigning 155-pound king Islam Makhachev, a decisive loss against ‘Blessed’ could disrupt those plans and pave the way for him to sneak in through the back door and claim his own shot at the ‘Dagestani Destroyer.’

“I’m in a situation, I’m in a place where first things first is Gaethje,” Holloway told Kevin Iole. “But if I can go out there and get my hand raised like we plan on doing, there’s a lot of fights that can be there for us. And one of them being the ‘55 champ, which I think would be a fun one. I’m still on this path and that’s why I’m here today.”

Islam Makhachev could defend his title against Justin Gaethje or Max Holloway in the future

Justin Gaethje closing as betting favorite to beat Max Holloway in UFC 300 BMF title fight

Just a handful of days out from a spectacular UFC 300 card this weekend, former interim lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje is closing as a betting favorite to beat former undisputed featherweight kingpin, Max Holloway in the pair’s anticipated BMF championship showdown.

Gaethje, the current number two ranked lightweight contender, has been sidelined since last summer, racking up a stunning second round high-kick KO win over fellow former interim titleholder, Dustin Poirier in the pair’s massive rematch for the symbolic BMF crown.

And as for Holloway, the Hawaiin rides an impressive two-fight winning run into his return to the lightweight limit, most recently bringing the curtain down on the Hall of Fame career of Chan Sung Jung in Singapore with a thunderous, face-planting knockout.

Justin Gaethje closing as betting favorite to win at UFC 300

Despite this, however, Max Holloway is closing as the betting underdog in his fight with Justin Gaethje this weekend at UFC 300 – to the tune of +136, with the defending symbolic titleholder a betting favorite available as high as -162.

Fans and punters alike can find a Stake.com review ahead of placing wagers and bets this weekend at UFC 300 – with the massive tentpole card set to bring some of the most high-profile gambling and betting action of the calendar year.

Prior to his knockout victory against Lafayette striker, Poirier, lightweight title chaser, Gaethje halted the run of another formidable striker, Rafael Fiziev in a decision victory in the United Kingdom.

And eyeing a future title fight with incumbent champion, Islam Makhachev off the back of his fight with fan-favorite slickster, Holloway this weekend, Gaethje envisioned a rather violent finish of the former in their UFC 300 clash – vowing to hopefully leave Holloway in need of a doctor’s stoppage of mercy in ‘Sin City’.

“No one steals the show quite like ‘The Highlight’,” Justin Gaethje said during the UFC 300 promotional release. “Carnage, chaos, probably some blood and adrenaline coursing through the veins, that is what you are going to get from me. My ability to create damage is second to none. Max Holloway is a legend, probably the only person on the UFC roster that checks every single box of being a BMF so I have a lot of respect for him.”

“However, this is my job and I’m going to try and f*ck him up,” Justin Gaethje explained. “I will finish Max, he may not go away the traditional way, but I think I will inflict damage to where the doctors need to stop it [the fight]. We are about to paint a violent picture and no two better guys to go out there and put on a show.”

Another eye-catching feature at UFC 300 this weekend sees both Gaethje and Holloway land their respective custom fight shorts for their massive clash.

However, stealing the fashion side of the occasion in the eyes of many fans and pundits, Holloway helped design a pair of white, vale tudo compression shorts, accompanied by floral designs of red and blue.
