Conor McGregor showed some love to two-time Olympic champion Kellie Harrington following her gold medal-winning performance in the women’s 60kg boxing division.
Harrington, who hails from McGregor’s native Ireland and brought home the gold three years ago in Tokyo, delivered a dominant showing against China’s Yang Wenlu, securing a 4-1 victory at Roland Garros to become the first Irish woman to win gold medals at two Olympics. She is just one of four Irish athletes to retain an Olympic title.
Her accomplishment scored some recognition from McGregor, who offered congratulations to Harrington while enjoying the festivities at home alongside his youngest son, Mack McGregor.

Minutes after she stepped onto the podium to receive her gold medal, Harrington announced to the world that she was retiring from the sport while on top.
“I’m done and dusted,” Harrington said. “I’m going to go out a champion. That’s the way I want to go out. I don’t want to go out and lose a fight and then retire. I’ll retire happy.”

As for Conor McGregor, the two-division titleholder is still working toward his long-awaited return to the Octagon. That moment was supposed to come at UFC 303 in June, but ‘Mystic Mac’ ultimately bowed out of his scheduled headliner with Michael Chandler after breaking his pinky toe while training.
Rumors suggest that their bout will be rebooked for UFC 310 in December, though Dana White has continued to play coy when asked, and Chandler has seemingly thrown in the towel on ever seeing their scrap come to fruition.
