After things appeared to be going quiet on that front, the latest update says completely the opposite as things are becoming increasingly severe.
Russian media platform MASH have now reported that Nurmagomedov has had all of his bank accounts seized by the Russian tax authorities.
This is due to him reportedly being in debt which equates to over 3 million US dollars.
Nurmagomedov’s team had denied the claims at first but there is no official statement as yet in response to the latest details.
MMA Fans React To Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Reported Financial Troubles
MMA fans reacted on social media to the newest updates regarding Nurmagomedov’s financial issues with the Russian tax authorities.
The name of the former UFC lightweight champion has also been in the news due to a terrorist being identified as someone that once trained in the same Dagestani gym.
“We really are about to see Khabib come back and fight before we get GTA 6”
“All I know is if Conor McGregor sees this tweet he’s going to have an absolute field day ”
“Not very Goatlike”
“Bro’s having a rough year”
“Khabib about to go box with Jake Paul.”
“How is Khabib in 3 Mil of debt when he supposedly made like 20M alone in the McGregor fight and thats not even including everything else?”
“He pissed off Putin and the Russian Oligarchy in some way. I am willing to bet the relations soured.”
As several replies to the news showed, many were waiting for Conor McGregor’s reaction which surely wouldn’t take long to come through on social media.
Whilst McGregor didn’t say anything on this latest update, he did repost the following video on social media in response.
According to Russian online news outlet Mash and REN TV, ‘The Eagle’ has now seen his personal accounts seized, financially crippling the once celebrated star. The FTS seemingly confirmed the decision on its website, stating, “There are valid decisions on suspension for the specified taxpayer.”
The seizure comes in the wake of a horrific terrorist attack in Dagestan that saw Russian armed forces raid Nurmagomedov’s MMA gym in Makhachkala as part of the ongoing investigation.
One of the militants responsible for the deaths of more than 20 people was identified as Gadzhimurad Kagirov, a 2-0 fighter and former pupil of the school who is said to have trained with Nurmagomedov’s late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
‘The Eagle’ vehemently denied reports that Kagirov was ever a member of the Eagles MMA fight team.
“The terrorist is not our student, that is absolute nonsense, it’s not true,” Nurmagomedov told Red Corner MMA. “Yes, he had a camp at the gym at some point, maybe for a couple of months. But he was never part of the team.”
Conor McGregor Reacts to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s latest setback
Once news of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s latest run-in with Russian authorities hit social media, it didn’t take long for his greatest rival, Conor McGregor to chime in.
“Broke and on the run if you see him tell him push ups for cash,” McGregor wrote in a since-deleted post on X accompanied by a laughing emoji.
McGregor has also had plenty to say about the recent raid on Nurmagomedov’s gym in the Dagestan capital, all of which you can read right here.
With Nurmagomedov’s financial situation looking dire, could we see ‘The Eagle’ come out of retirement and make his triumphant return to the Octagon?

Conor McGregor is once again tearing into his old foe, Khabib Nurmagomedov after news of the UFC Hall of Famer’s gym being raided by Russian security forces hit social media.
However, Nurmagomedov quickly found himself embroiled in the controversy when it was revealed that a former fighter from his Eagle MMA gym was one of the militants. Gadzhimurad Kagirov, who was killed by Russian forces during the attack, was a 2-0 mixed martial artist who had been previously trained by Khabib’s late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
As a result, Nurmagomdevo’s gym in Makhachkala was raided by Russian security forces, much to the delight of Conor McGregor who shared video footage of the raid with the hashtag #ConorWasRight.
Conor McGregor goes scorched earth on Khabib Nurmagomedov
‘Mystic Mac’ didn’t stop there. He continued his attack on social media, referring to his UFC 229 opponent as “the terrorist,” among other things.
“In the terrorists gym when a tester showed up they would hold him hostage and give a random clean persons urine vs the fighters they were looking to test,” McGregor wrote on X. “All will come out now. When this comes down on top of them watch what surfaces. There is a video of khabib walking into a premise full of people and smashing it up entirely with a bat , threatening all those inside. All will come out. Mystic Mac.”
“I fought this little bitch made rat with a full broken foot,” McGregor added in a follow-up post. “I should have postponed like I done this time. For what did I give this little cousin fucker any advantage for. He shit himself on that bus and showed his true chicken heart. Bitch made spoilt brat. Now you are FUCKED! When you die I celebrate!”
Though they only met once inside the Octagon, McGregor and Khabib’s rivalry is among the most fierce in UFC history. Their October 2018 clash still holds the record for the highest-grossing pay-per-view event in promotional history, bringing in more than 2 million buys.
At least 21 people were killed, including 16 police officers, and another 25 were injured after armed men attacked a synagogue, churches, and police post in the city of Derbent and Dagestan’s capital Makhachkala on Sunday, June 23. Per a report from CNN, attackers “set the building on fire using Molotov cocktails” at the synagogue in Derbent while police and security guards were killed outside during the attack.
Sergey Melikov, head of the Dagestan Republic, said at least six “militants” were also killed following the attack, one of which has been identified as Gadzhimurad Kagirov, a former MMA fighter who was once affiliated with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the UFC Hall of Famer’s late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
In the wake of the shocking news, Conor McGregor, considered to be Nurmagomedov’s greatest foe inside the Octagon, has stayed busy, tweeting and deleting his thoughts on the situation accompanied with the hashtag #ConorWasRight.
Recently, the Irish megastar once again posted the hashtag in response to a video from Aussie Cossack of Nurmagomedov’s Eagle MMA gym being raided by Russian security forces in Makhachkala.
Conor McGregor first accused Khabib of having ties to terrorism in 2018
McGregor first suggested that Nurmagomedov had ties to terrorism in 2018, accusing the former lightweight champion’s manager, Dominance MMA’s Ali Abdelaziz, of being a “lying terrorist snitch” ahead of his record-setting fight with ‘The Eagle’ at UFC 229.
The Washington Post‘s Des Bieler later wrote that McGregor’s comments appeared to be referring to a 2013 book titled Enemies Within: Inside the NYPD’s Secret Spying Unit and bin Laden’s Final Plot Against America. In it, the authors claim that Abdelaziz worked with the New York Police Department and the FBI before they grew concerned he had become a double agent and tried to deport him.
Abdelaziz, of course, is one of the more well-known managers in mixed martial arts, featuring an all-star client list that consists of Nurmagomedov, Kamaru Usman, Justin Gaethje, Henry Cejudo, and Kayla Harrison.
On Sunday, reports emerged of assailants targeting multiple places of worship and a police outpost in Derbent and Makhachkala. Per CNN, at least 15 police officers and four civilians including a priest were killed in the attack.
According to the Russian state news agency TASS, the gunmen responsible for the violence included relatives of a regional official and former mixed martial arts fighter Gadzhimurad Kagirov, who had previously represented Nurmagomedov’s Eagle MMA.
As a result, all MMA gyms in Dagestani are to be investigated for “religious extremist elements” per a report from James Porrazzo on X.
“The FSB has announced through Dagestani media that ALL Dagestani MMA gyms are being investigated and INSPECTED for religious extremist elements – especially Eagles MMA, the gym of Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov, where at least one terrorist trained. Expect his to not be a “timid” campaign.”
Following the attacks and news of Kagirov’s involvement, Eagle MMA released a statement on Instagram, saying:
“Peace be upon you. We all witnessed yesterday’s terrorist act that left no one indifferent. On behalf of the school, we want to say that we are against any aggression and similar acts of terrorist. The management and coaching staff pay great attention to continue the work of the founder of our school, Honored Coach of Russia, Abdulmanap Magomedovich Nurmagomedov in educating our youth. Our school has grown and nurtured many worthy and educated athletes who represent our country and country worldwide.
“Our school is regularly visited by athletes from all over our country and all over the world, they go through a training and preparation phase for their competitions and upcoming fights. We would like to say that a participant in yesterday’s events has just completed a training kit for an upcoming professional fight and at the request of a teammate was allowed to practice at our school.”
Conor McGregor goes off on Khabib Nurmagomedov and the ‘fake lying rats’ at Eagle MMA
After making an initial statement of his own condemning the terrorist attack in his hometown, Khabib Nurmagomedov posted a follow-up, presumably once learning of Kagirov’s role in the massacre.
“May the Almighty disfigure the face of this creature and all its followers, who, under the slogan of freedom of speech, offend the feelings of more than one and a half billion Muslim believers,” Nurmagomedov wrote. “May the Almighty humiliate them in this life, and in the next. Allah is quick in calculation and you will see it.
“We are Muslims. We love our prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) more than our mothers, fathers, children, wives, and all other people close to our hearts. Believe me, these provocations will come back to them, the end is always for the God-fearing.”
Given the intense history between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, it should come as no surprise that the Irish megastar chimed in on all the unwanted attention being directed at the UFC Hall of Famer and his gym.
Aside from a post that refers to Nurmagomedov and his gym as “fake lying rats” and telling them to “rest in piss,” McGregor also kickstarted a couple new hashtags while sharing the Dagestani’s most recent statement.
“#Conorwasright #payyourtaxes #deadrats,” McGregor wrote in a since-deleted post on X.
“That’s typical rat behavior,” McGregor said on a Duelbits live stream. “Scurrying rat. So, he has bills to pay. Two main events or something he has in the UFC and he owes his bollocks to the Russian government. So, he’s gonna pay his f*ckin’ money that he owes instead of siphoning it out through to other countries. I’m ecstatic and delighted that that’s coming on top of him.
“We all will welcome him back into the fight game where he’s ran from. It’s a rat trap. The rat trap has been set. We’re excited about that and to see where it goes. We noticed a little rat scurrying on back. We see him back around. The fat rat we call him” (h/t BJPenn.com).

Former UFC lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov issued a statement following the horrific terrorist attack in his hometown of Dagestan, Russia.
According to a report from CNN, gunmen opened fire on multiple places of worship in what appears to have been a coordinated attack. At least 15 police officers and four civilians were killed, including one Orthodox priest. Sergey Melikov, head of the Dagestan Republic, said at least six “militants” were also killed following the attacks on churches, synagogues, and police posts.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Nurmagomedov took to Instagram following the attacks, sharing a black box to mourn the victims and writing:
“My condolences to all the relatives and friends of the victims. May Allah save us all from such institutions and grant us a peaceful sky over our heads. Take care of yourself and your loved ones and let everyone look around themselves and around their children with whom they interact with and who is around them. Educating souls is more important than educating bodies.”
One of the militants identified as an MMA fighter with ties to Khabib Nurmagomedov and his father
According to Sports Politika founder Karim Zidan, five of the gunmen were killed by Russian Special Forces, one of them identified as Gadzhimurad Kagirov, an MMA fighter who had ties to Nurmagomedov and his late father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
Kagirov, 28, was a master of sport (an honorary title for successful athletes in Russia) in freestyle wrestling before transitioning to mixed martial arts under the tutelage of Abdulmanap. He competed in two fights in 2021 while representing Nurmagomedov’s Eagle MMA gym, a training facility founded by jailed Dagestani oligarch Ziyavudin Magomedov.
Making his pro MMA debut in April 2021, Kagirov scored a first-round knockout against Basyr Ibragimov under the GC Entertainment banner. He followed that up with a unanimous decision victory over Dzhambulat Bagaev at the promotion’s follow-up event in November that same year.
