The newest UFC star, Khamzat Chimaev has shown his softer side. The undefeated 26-year-old has been caught on camera helping a homeless man in Las Vegas and even buying him some food from a local McDonalds – check it out.

Chimaev burst onto the scene earlier this year scoring back-to-back victories on ‘Fight Island’ in July. The Russian born Swedish fighter made his UFC debut at middleweight against John Phillips. He dominated the first round before sinking in a submission early in round two. Ten days later and Chimaev was back action again – this time competing at welterweight. Once again he dominated the fight and managed to stop UFC newcomer Rhys McKee inside one round.

Post-fight White revealed he was hoping to book Chimaev’s third fight with the promotion for UFC 252. The undefeated prospect then began calling out the biggest and best fighters at welterweight including Demian Maia, Conor McGregor, Mike Perry, and even the 170lb champ, Kamaru Usman. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and fans were forced to wait a little longer than anticipated to see Chimaev back in action.

Chimaev will now fight Meerschaert at middleweight at UFC Vegas this coming Saturday before taking on Demian Maia in October. ‘GM3’ and many others have found this double-booking to be disrespectful but UFC boss, Dana White insists it is just because Chimaev is so talented and eager to compete.

“The thing is, the guy wants to keep fighting,” he said at the Dana White’s Contender Series 32 post-fight press conference. “He wants all these fights back-to-back. It’s no disrespect to his opponent, he’s either going to win or lose. That has nothing to do with us. That’s up to them, but to do that, for him to really fight two fights in a row, you have to book him. And for a guy like him, I would never do that for somebody else. I’d be like, ‘Relax. Let’s see if you get through this fight,’ but what I’ve seen from him, I’m willing to do that with him.”

Dana White Explains Why He Double-Booked Khamzat Chimaev

Dana White has explained why Khamzat Chimaev is currently booked to fight Gerald Meerschaert and Demian Maia.

The undefeated Russian standout will square off against Meerschaert at middleweight on the undercard of Colby Covington vs. Tyron Woodley on September 19 If he wins Chimaev will then face Brazilian submission specialist Maia on ‘Fight Island’ in October.

Many including Meerschaert have found the double-booking to be disrespectful. White insists that is not the case and he is just allowing Chimaev the chance to be active.

“The thing is, the guy wants to keep fighting,” he said at the Dana White’s Contender Series 32 post-fight press conference Tuesday.

“It’s fascinating,” White said. “We’ve never really had anybody that’s doing anything like he is right now. So I could see why you would say, ‘Don’t you think this is disrespectful booking a fight for him when he’s got a fight?’ but that’s how you have to do it. It’s interesting, I like it, and I’ve never had a guy like this.

“It’s fun, I’ll play this game with him. After what I saw in his first two fights – he fought real guys, he didn’t fight chumps. This isn’t a guy who blew through a couple of set-up fights. He beat real people, and I’m going to see how it plays out.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Khamzat Chimaev is already planning his next three fights despite the fact he is currently booked to face Gerald Meerschaert at middleweight on the undercard of Colby Covington vs. Tyron Woodley in just 10 days’ time.

Chimaev took to social media earlier today. The undefeated Russian claimed he respects his September 19 opponent but that didn’t stop him calling for fights against Demian Maia and the Diaz brothers, he wrote.

“Thanks for my opponent for taking this fight I respect him for that. InshAllah if I will defeat my next opponent Dana White please I can fight Maia , Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz back to back same night or every week . Easiest money welterweight division.”

A fight between Chimaev and Maia seems to have been booked for an upcoming ‘Fight Island’ card. Meerschaert has openly admitted he feels disrespected by the UFC and his opponent who are both clearly overlooking him.

“Yeah, I keep saying it every time someone asks me,” Meerschaert explained. “I find it disrespectful. I find it disrespectful that the promotion can just line this up and put it out there in public. And I think it’s disrespectful that (Khamzat) Chimaev is like completely ok with like, ‘Ok, just line this up, I’ll beat him, I don’t got to cut a lot of weight and then I’ll go fight somebody else.”

“So far in the UFC, you’ve fought a lightweight who came up to welterweight (McKee) and didn’t look great. And then you fought a middleweight (Phillips) who had a rough weight cut and really isn’t that dangerous on the ground. He’s only dangerous if you stand and bang with him. And now you’re gonna fight a middleweight who’s gonna be bigger, stronger, and my techniques going to be way better in the grappling department. So, to think that you start setting up fights afterwards against a guy who. by the way, I’m tied with for the most submissions in the middleweight division, if it’s not disrespectful then I don’t know what is.”

The newest star in the UFC, Khamzat Chimaev will make his eagerly anticipated U.S. debut on September 19. He is expected to fight Gerald Meerschaert at middleweight on the undercard of Tyron Woodley vs. Colby Covington which takes place in Las Vegas.

Raphael Marinho of Combate broke the news on social media, he wrote.

“Dana White said he is negotiating Demian Maia x Khamzat Chimaev for Ilha da Luta, but that the Russian will fight in Las Vegas first. From what I’ve learned, the UFC is negotiating for Chimaev to face Gerald Meerschaert on the September 19 card, at middleweight (up to 84kg). #feedmma

This news comes shortly after it was revealed Chimaev had finally been granted a U.S. visa. UFC president Dana White previously revealed he was struggling to get Chimaev into the country and was unable to schedule another fight for the Russian until that hurdle had been cleared.

Chimaev scored back-to-back victories on ‘Fight Island’ in July. The 26-year-old made his UFC debut at middleweight against John Phillips. He dominated the first round before sinking in a submission early in round two. Ten days later and Chimaev was back action again – this time competing at welterweight. Once again he dominated the fight and managed to stop UFC newcomer Rhys McKee inside one round.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and fans have been forced to wait a little longer than anticipated to see Chimaev back in action.

Right now the plan is for Chimaev to fight Meerschaert on September 19 before taking on Demian Maia in October. ‘GM3’ doesn’t like that plan which seems to write off his chances against the undefeated Russian.

“He’s not leaving the cage physically able to fight in October,” Meerschaert wrote on Twitter.

Who do you think will win on September 19? Khamzat Chimaev or Gerald Meerschaert?
