Misfits Boxing suspended by PBA

Misfits Boxing has had its license suspended by the Professional Boxing Association.

Since 2022, Misfits has held numerous influencer-led boxing events, many of them headlined by social media star KSI (real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji). Most recently, KSI faced Tommy Fury, the half-brother of reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, in October. Fury won the bout via decision, but the lackluster performances of both fighters were heavily criticized.

Five months prior, the PBA overturned KSI’s knockout victory over Joe Fournier due to the YouTuber’s use of an illegal elbow.

According to a post on the PBA’s official X account, the decision was made to suspend Misfits “in the interest of boxer safety”, accusing the promotion of “clear violations of the PBA’s rules and regulations” and “bringing boxing into disrepute”

“Misfits Boxing: Due to the clear violations of the PBA’s rules and regulations, bringing boxing into disrepute and in the interest of boxer safety, Misfits Boxing Promoters’ licences have been suspended and disciplinary hearings will follow for such licence holders.”

Misfits Boxing Ready to Align with a new governing body

Mams Taylor, the Co-President of Misfits Boxing, had already publicly announced their intention to align with a new governing body.

The PBA levied a similar decision against another influencer boxing promotion, Kingpyn Boxing in April. “PBA has withdrawn sanction from the upcoming KingpynBoxing tournament and suspended Kingpyn’s PBA Promoters license until further notice.” The PBA did not explain their decision at the time.

Three months later, Kingpyn Boxing competitor Daniella Hemsley sent the influencer scene into a tizzy when she flashed her bare breasts following a win over Aleksandra Daniel. The incident offered a prime example of why some fight fans love influencer boxing while others absolutely loathe it.

Misfits Boxing recently announced its first event of 2024, emanating from the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England on January 20. The card will feature OnlyFans model Elle Brooke who last competed under the Kingpyn Boxing banner as part of the promotion’s High Stakes Tournament last year.

Kingpyn Boxing issued an apology after OnlyFans model Daniella Hemsley flashed the live crowd following her victory at the promotion’s High Stakes Tournament semi-final last weekend.

Hemsley made waves on social media after scoring a unanimous decision victory over fellow influencer Aleksandra Daniel, also known as Ms. Danielka. Following the announcement, Hemsley was elated and pulled her top up, exposing her bare breasts to fans inside Dublin’s 3Arena and those watching around the world on DAZN. 48 hours after reaping the benefits of Hemlsey’s northern exposure, the promotion has issued a formal apology to anyone who was offended by the NSFW celebration.

“As we strive to bring fans the best influencer boxing events possible, we accept that Saturday’s post fight incident may have offended some viewers and we appreciate that this incident didn’t meet the standards expected from Kingpyn fight nights,” a statement from the promotion read.

Daniella Hemsley Removed From Next Kingpyn Boxing Event Following Backlash

Adding insult to injury, Daniella Hemsley has seemingly been removed from the next event, scheduled to go down inside the O2 Arena in September.

“We apologise fully to anyone upset from the broadcast. The fighter involved in the incident will not be appearing in the final event and has decided to take some time away from boxing. We will now be turning our attention to the Kingpyn finals, with all of us more determined than ever to hold the greatest night of influencer boxing and showcase the very best sport we all love.”

It’s a seemingly hypocritical move by the promotion after Hemsley, according to a post-fight interview, had received permission to show her bare breasts in the event that she won the bout.

Despite generating more buzz than they ever could have hoped for with an influencer boxing event, Kingpyn is likely backpedaling after prominent figures in the world of boxing, such as British promoter Eddie Hearn, came out and slammed the organization for allowing it to happen.

“My opinion is, I hate it,” Hearn told Boxing Social about Hemsley’s flashing incident. “I hate it. We’ve worked so hard for women in boxing to be respected for their ability, for their merits, for their hard work. One thing we must understand is that ain’t boxing. That needs to be pushed. All that stuff, Misfits, Kingpyn. It needs to be booted so far away from professional boxing, and we really need to disassociate ourselves with what it is.”

Hemsley stepped into the squared circle for the second time this year after suffering a unanimous decision loss in an exhibition boxing bout with Jully Oliveira in July. This time, Hemsley would come out on top, besting Aleksandra Daniel, also known as Ms. Danielka, in a five-round bout during the Kingpyn Boxing High Stakes Tournament which features influencers from around the world coming together and battling it out inside the boxing ring.

Hemsley earned a unanimous decision over her opponent via scores of 48-47,48-47, and 49-46 from the ringside judges.

Daniella Hemsley Delivers a Memorable Post-Fight Celebration

Elated by the victory, Hemsley delivered one of the more memorable post-fight celebrations in recent memory by lifting her top, exposing her breasts, and jumping around the ring for the world to see.

Speaking in a post-fight interview, Hemsley said she “wanted to express herself.” Needless to say, she accomplished her goal. Of course, not everyone wanted to enjoy the show she was putting on, including post-fight interviewer Wade Plem who practically ran across the ring in response to the northern exposure.

This isn’t the first celebration of its kind. Last year, BKFC standout Tai Emery shocked fans at an event in Thailand when she jumped onto the ring ropes and exposed herself to the sea of onlookers. The spectacle reportedly increased traffic to Emery’s OnlyFans page by 6000%. Based on the reaction Daniella Hemsley is getting on social media for her own viral post-fight celebration, we can only assume she will also see a massive flood of new subscribers on OnlyFans.
