UFC featherweight contender Jeremy Stephens has put his name in the hat to face Chan Sung Jung next.

Jung got back to winning ways with an emphatic TKO win over Renato Moicano in the main event of UFC Greenville this past weekend. Given Moicano’s No. 5 ranking, the win could move “The Korean Zombie” high up the ranks and potentially into the title picture.

Speaking after the event, Jung said he did not care who his next opponent was, but just wanted to fight in his native South Korea. UFC president Dana White appeared to have promised him just that and if that’s the case, an opponent is now required.

Many fans have called for a rematch with Jose Aldo, but it doesn’t appear the former champion wants to fight outside Brazil as his UFC contract comes to a close. However, one option could be Stephens in what would guarantee to be a barn burner.

“I’ll take the @KoreanZombieMMA next!” Stephens wrote on Twitter. “Let’s go @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc it’s the most exciting fight to make. Congrats on quick work, see ya soon! ??”

Stephens was enjoying a three-fight winning streak before suffering a TKO defeat to Aldo last summer. He would then lose a unanimous decision to Zabit Magomedsharipov earlier this year. However, “Lil’ Heaten” always brings the action and it’s a hard to see a headliner with Jung going the distance.

Do you want to see this matchup next? Or should Jung aim for someone in the top five?

In the opening bout of the night, Deron Winn made his promotional debut against Eric Spicely. Winn and Spicely put on a tremendous back-and-forth slugfest, but it was Winn who walked away with the unanimous decision victory. However, both men will be taking home $50,000 Fight Of The Night bonuses.

Also on the UFC Greenville preliminary card was an impressive showing by heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who finished Allen Crowder in an astonishing nine seconds. It’s no surprise that Rozenstruik has been awarded a $50,000 Performance Of The Night bonus for his amazing knockout win.

Finally, in the main event of the evening, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung obliterated Renato Moicano with a 58 second knockout win. A wild overhand from Jung dropped Moicano, who was subsequently finished off on the ground. Jung will also take home a $50,000 Performance Of The Night bonus.

Tomorrow night (Sat. June 22, 2019) UFC Greenville takes place from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

In the main event of the night, featherweights Renato Moicano and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung will go head-to-head. Check out our LowKickMMA UFC Greenville staff predictions for the bout here:

Jon Fuentes (2019 Record: 2-2):

Renato Moicano is one of the more promising prospects at 145 pounds. Although he hit a road bump against Jose Aldo in his last outing, he is still one of the more dangerous competitors in the division. “Korean Zombie” is also coming off a disappointing defeat after his last-second knockout loss to Yair Rodriguez.

Jung is a powerful striker and a seasoned veteran, and I have a funny feeling he’s going to connect on the Brazilian with a big shot for the knockout victory.

(Prediction: Chang Sung Jung)

Andrew Ravens (2019 Record: 3-1):

It still amazes me that this is a main event but granted, it is a fight night card, so I digress. Both fighters are coming off losses in their latest outings. Moicano has looked extremely impressive before his last fight which was a loss to Jose Aldo. I think that was just a speed bump in his way but ready to rebound in a big way with a win.

(Prediction: Renato Moicano)

Abhinav Kini (2019 Record: 2-2):

This is an extremely tough fight to call in my opinion. Moicano is more than capable of using his reach to his advantage and just striking and moving away from Jung to win a decision. The question is if he can do it for five rounds.

Another thing to consider is Moicano doesn’t have a lot of power, especially compared to Jung, and a reach advantage didn’t seem to phase The Korean Zombie against Yair Rodriguez, at least for 24:58 of their fight. I have a feeling Jung will be able to catch Moicano and get the win.

(Prediction: Chang Sung Jung)
