Tyron Woodley didn’t want to fight Leon Edwards in London, but it looks like that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

UFC president Dana White confirmed to ESPN that the Woodley vs. Edwards fight will headline UFC London on March 21 from the O2 Arena. Edwards is currently on an eight-fight win streak within the welterweight division, and is looking for a big win that would catapult him into title contention. Woodley, a former 170-pound champion, would certainly be the victory to get him where he wants to be after already defeating the likes of Gunnar Nelson, Donald Cerrone, and Rafael dos Anjos.

Woodley hasn’t fought since last March when he dropped the welterweight title to Kamaru Usman after “The Nigerian Nightmare” dominated Woodley for five rounds before taking the lopsided unanimous decision. During his title reign, Woodley successfully defended his belt against challengers such as Demian Maia, Darren Till, and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

Should Woodley make a statement against an impressive challenger such as Edwards, it could be his ticket to a fast rematch with the man who took the welterweight throne from him. Although it seemed like Edwards was always the logical next opponent for Woodley, “T-Wood” stated back in early December he’d prefer the fight to take place in the United States.

“I’m ready to fight soon, man,” Woodley said. “They want me to fight in London. F*ck that, I’m not going all the way to London to fight. I’m the five-time world champion, I’m gonna fight f*cking here. January 18th, January 25th, February 8th, I wanna fight in the States. I don’t wanna go out of the country and fight. When I go out of the country I wanna be on vacation.”

What do you think about the matchup between Woodley and Edwards?

Tyron Woodley was not a fan of Leon Edwards’ recent diss.

The two welterweights are reportedly set to square off against each other at UFC London on March 21. Edwards is notably confident ahead of the bout and poked fun at Woodley stating that he had his rap career to fall back on once he loses to him.

Woodley did not exactly appreciate those words. Replying on Edwards’ Instagram post, “The Chosen One” unloaded on the Birmingham native:

“Shut your bitch a** up before I don’t sign to fight you bum a**,” Woodley replied. “Nobody knows you, nobody cares, you a b*tch and ate a three piece and that’s your biggest claim to fame! ? ??? @leon_edwardsmma quit clout chasing and trying to add to your 50k followers. You’re embarrassing! Stop trying to talk sh*t you’re garbage at it just like your bum a** career. I’ve made more money in music than you’ve made in your entire career. Laugh at that you lil b*tch!”

Edwards is yet to respond but one thing is for sure — this reported welterweight fight between the pair just got a lot more interesting.

Bookmakers notably shared Edwards’ confidence too as they have him as the betting favorite ahead of the fight.

It looks like Tyron Woodley vs. Leon Edwards is the next fight for both competitors.

After initially being hesitant towards facing Edwards at UFC London, Woodley now appears to have had a change of heart as both fighters have reportedly agreed to the matchup for March 21.

It will be Woodley’s first fight since losing his welterweight title to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in March last year. And despite that being his only setback since 2014, the former welterweight champion has opened as a betting underdog.

As per Betting Insider Journal, “The Chosen One” is a +115 underdog while Edwards is a -147 favorite. That means you would earn $115 if you bet $100 on Woodley while you would need to stake $147 to win $100 on Edwards.

In a way, it’s not surprising. After all, Woodley turns 38 next year and has been pretty inactive since losing his title. Edwards, meanwhile, is 28 and currently on a seven-fight winning streak having most recently dispatched of former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

However, Woodley is no stranger to being the underdog. And on March 21, he will look to make a point not only to the bookmakers, but the entire welterweight division as well.

Are you surprised by these odds? Who do you have winning?

Leon Edwards will finally get his crack at former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

The fight goes down at UFC London on March 21 from The O2 Arena in London, England. Now, Edwards has begun hyping the fight by starting some trash talk with Woodley, taking a shot at “T-Wood’s” rap career. “Rocky” posted a clip of Woodley’s music video with the following caption.

@twooodley at least you have the rapping career to fall back on after March”

Woodley has not responded as of this writing. Their bout at UFC London will be Woodley’s first in over a year since losing the welterweight title to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235. Usman dominated Woodley for five rounds en-route to a lopsided unanimous decision win to capture the 170-pound strap. Now, Woodley will attempt to bounce back against a streaking contender such as Edwards.

Edwards is currently on a eight-fight win streak. A win over a former champion in Woodley, increasing his winning streak to nine-straight, would all but seal up a title opportunity. However, Jorge Masvidal has also forced himself into the title conversation with an epic 2019 run. It will be interesting to see how things play out in 2020.

What do you think about Edwards’ jab at Woodley’s rap career?
