Most of longtime UFC heavyweight veteran Mark Hunt’s lawsuit against the UFC has been dismissed by a Nevada judge.

U.S. District Court judge Jennifer Doresy tossed out most of Hunt’s claims yesterday (Thurs. February 14, 2019) in a filing. The sole complaint remaining is a “breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fear dealing” against the UFC. Originally, Hunt was suing the UFC, President Dana White, and UFC 200 opponent Brock Lesnar.

Here’s what Dorsey had to say about tossing out Hunt’s claims against Lesnar (via MMA Fighting):

“Like that intentional throw, the fact that Lesnar was allegedly doping violated the bout rules established by UFC and the NAC but does not alone establish that his conduct exceeded the ordinary range of activity in an MMA fight.

“As Hunt’s own allegations demonstrate, doping is an unfortunately common issue in MMA and was a risk he perceived. And although he argues that doping empowered Lesnar to move faster and hit harder, Hunt doesn’t allege that Lesnar’s conduct during the bout was somehow atypical—such as throwing Hunt out of the octagon or using ‘packed gloves’ or a weapon.

“Nor does Hunt claim that his injuries exceeded those typical of an MMA bout. Accordingly, I find that Hunt consented to his fight with Lesnar, which precludes civil-battery liability.”

Originally, Lesnar defeated Hunt via unanimous decision in the UFC 200 co-main event. However, it was later overturned to a no contest after “The Beast” tested positive for banned substances. He has since served a suspension and is eligible to fight again when he’s ready to return. It’s believed a UFC heavyweight title fight against Daniel Cormier is what’s next for Lesnar.

Mark Hunt blasts the UFC, its President Dana White, and Jeff Novitzky yet again now that he’s no longer under contract with the Las Vegas-based promotion.

As a result of some issues, Hunt decided it was best to not sign a deal with the UFC. In a heavyweight bout on the main card of the UFC Adelaide event, the MMA veteran suffered a unanimous decision loss to Justin Willis.

While doing a recent interview, he went off regarding the promotion taking his love away from the fight game.

“They’ve actually taken my love for fighting away because of how they promote steroids and cheaters. How they’ve done it all,” Hunt told MMA UK recently. “They’ve pushed me out of the way, to be honest and that’s what’s taken my love for fighting away. It’s kind of sad because they should be promoting the guy that’s not cheating. Whereas they are promoting the cheaters of this sport, which is wrong. I actually thought Jeff Novitzky was a nice person but he’s just a sellout. You’re a sellout, bro. That’s the bottom line.”

Bellator MMA is always an option as they need to sign more heavyweight stars. RIZIN is a real possibility due to his history of fighting in Japan under the PRIDE FC banner back in the day. ONE is throwing around a lot of money right now.

Hunt then brought up issues involving newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. One of Jones’ test from last month was found to have an ‘atypical finding.’ It led to the UFC being forced to move UFC 232 from Las Vegas to California.

Latest Issue

“Pure example, look at the situation with Jon Jones and [Alexander] Gustafsson,” Hunt said (H/T to MMA Fighting). “Look at that situation. They move a whole freakin’ show for one cheating guy. All the fans miss out on all their airlines, all their flights, all that jazz. They miss out all because of this one idiot.”

“The UFC has the best stringent testing in the whole freakin’ world but look what they’re doing. They give people four-month waivers so they can get past the tests. They’ve got these guys that say ‘The tests say has a picogram – a bit of steroids in him. But that’s from the last time we caught him.’ But he’s still got some sh*t in him. So does that mean he’s cheating? Yes, he is. Why are you even putting him to fight? The truth of the fact is, it didn’t matter whether he had a picogram now or if he had it 20 years ago. He’s still got some sh*t in him so he shouldn’t be fighting. It’s illegal. They’re promoting steroids, that’s what they’re doing.”

Mark Hunt blasts UFC officials over the latest incident involving Jon Jones that forced the promotion to relocate the UFC 232 event to a different city.

There has been a major issue between Hunt and the UFC, which dates back to his fight against Brock Lesnar. As seen in the fight, Lesnar won a unanimous decision that night which was subsequently overturned. This happened once it was revealed he failed two USADA-issued drug tests before the bout. This led to Hunt filing a civil suit against Lesnar and the UFC to settle his grievances. His latest fight marked the final bout on his contract and has had his sights set on the exit door from the UFC for some time now.

The MMA Veteran took to his official Facebook page where he put the promotion on blast. This is just hours after it was revealed one of Jones’ test from earlier this month was found to have an ‘atypical finding.’ It led to the NSAC not licensing him and the UFC was forced to move UFC 232 to California.

Hunt then wrote another post which he continued his verbal assault against the promotion and its President.
