Facebook head honcho Mark Zuckerberg has now released a statement regarding his impending fight with Elon Musk, and things aren’t looking too good as far as the fight coming to fruition goes.

The idea of a fight between the two rich tech-industry giants was born out of both men’s love for combat sports. Zuckerberg has been training for a while now and has recently even competed in some jiu-jitsu tournaments. Also, Zuckerberg’s company has been developing an app to rival Twitter, and this prompted Musk to offer a cage match to his rival.

“I’m up for a cage match if he is, lol,” Musk said on Twitter. To which, Zuckerberg would reply with a classic: “Send location.” This was the main driving force behind their idea of a fight, and both they and MMA fans have run with the idea ever since.

Mark Zuckerberg claims fight may be off, wants UFC to hold the event for charity

“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” Mark Zuckerberg began on Twitter. “I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.”

“If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

And with that, it’s looking like fans might not be getting the Zuck vs Musk fight after all. Musk has dreams of the two men throwing down in the Colosseum, while it’s seeming Zuckerberg had a much more realistic idea that the two of them would square off inside a UFC octagon.

Do you think Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk will ever throw down?

Mark Zuckerberg was quick to put out the fire Elon Musk started on his recently-rebranded platform, X, on Friday.

The Titan of Tesla made waves in the mixed martial arts community when he dropped some interesting details regarding his proposed scrap with fellow tech guru Mark Zuckerberg. Musk claimed that he had spoken to the Prime Minister of Italy to secure an “epic location” for the social media smackdown and that their individual foundations would promote the event. Musk also made it a point to add that the UFC would not be involved.

The reveal drew comments from some of combat sports’ most notable names, including Conor McGregor and Jake Paul. But as it turns out, Musk may have been blowing a little bit of smoke.

Mark Zuckerberg Wants UFC or ONE Championship Involved in Musk Fight Promotion

Responding to Musk’s claims, Mark Zuckerberg debunked pretty much everything, revealing that he has not agreed to any of the details that Musk dropped on his platform.

“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me,” Zuckerberg wrote. “If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.”

Zuckerberg also addressed the suggestion that the UFC will not be involved in promoting the history-making matchup, adding that bringing the UFC or ONE Championship into the mix would only serve to promote the fight and bring some of MMA’s biggest names to the forefront.

“Not holding my breath for Elon, but I’ll share details on my next fight when I’m ready,” Zuckerberg added. “When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card.”

While Elon Musk’s initial challenge to Mark Zuckerberg got the attention of their social media followers, things didn’t truly blow up until UFC President Dana White suggested that both men were 100% serious about stepping inside the cage for a clash. Removing the UFC’s massive marketing machine from one of the biggest fights in the history of combat sports would undoubtedly be a mistake.

It is also commendable that Mark Zuckerberg wants to use this as an opportunity to promote both the sport and its competitors. A clear sign that ‘The Zuck’ genuinely appreciates the sport of mixed martial arts and those who dedicate their lives to it.

Combat sports icons Conor McGregor and Jake Paul offered their take on the revelation that the UFC may not be involved in the billionaire beatdown between tech gurus Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.

On Friday, Musk caught the attention of fight fans after revealing details surrounding his utter ridiculous and all-to-real scrap with Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. Initially, all signs pointed toward the fight taking place inside the Octagon, but according to the Titan of Teslan, the Las Vegas-based promotion won’t have anything to do with the social media smackdown.

“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC),” Musk posted on X. “Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location.”

Suggesting that the fight will not be promoted by the UFC in any way, shape, or form certainly came as a surprise to many. But for former two-division world champion Conor McGregor, it was a welcomed bit of news.

I could not be less interested in this, I am so happy the ufc will not be involved,” McGregor wrote in a since-deleted post.

Of course, not everyone was thrilled about Dana White being removed from the equation. One user even suggested that the UFC’s involvement was the only thing keeping the fight from being a complete circus. “If UFC is taken away from the equation, then I see this as a clown show just like those YouTube fights.”

Like Conor McGregor, Jake Paul Applauds Elon Musk’s Decision, but for Decidedly Different Reasons

Another man happy to hear about Elon Musk’s plans for his fight with ‘The Zuck’ was YouTube star and pro boxer Jake Paul. Taking to social media, ‘The Problem Child’ applauded Musk’s decision to drop the UFC and distribute all proceeds to charity. Of course, Paul made it clear that he was interested in being evolved, suggesting Musk could use some of the funds to establish a pension for professional fighters.

“Elon Musk is the real boss of bosses. Meanwhile Dana White selling Musk Zuck t-shirts. This is how you do it. All to charity. Would be amazing to use some of the proceeds to setup a pension plan for fighters. Elon – I am al in to help in any way.”

Responding to his own post on X, Elon Musk also revealed that he underwent an MRI and will likely need to undergo surgery before stepping inside the cage with the META CEO.

“I spent 3 hours in an MRI machine on Monday. Bottom line is that my C5/C6 fusion is solid, so not an issue,” Musk added. “However, there is a problem with my right shoulder blade rubbing against my ribs, which requires minor surgery. Recovery will only take a few months.”

Elon Musk has revealed that his fight against Mark Zuckerberg will not be promoted and put on by the UFC.

The world’s attention recently shifted towards the sport of MMA after Musk and Zuckerberg agreed to fight one another in a ‘cage match’. UFC president Dana White didn’t take long to get involved after seeing the chance to make a whole lot of money.

While White has previously stated that he doesn’t do ‘gimmick’ fights, he is clearly eager to be a part of the event. As of just recently, White said that he was in discussions with all parties and even the Italian government in an attempt to host it in a Colosseum.

“It’s real, they do want to fight. It’s real. It’s funny because we were talking about the Colosseum for that fight and I actually did have a meeting with the Minister of Culture’s team in Italy to actually hold that fight in the Colosseum if it would happen. We’re talking,” White said on Mike Tyson podcast Hotboxin‘.

Elon Musk moves away from UFC being involved

However, in a recent post to Twitter, Musk announced that the fight is on, but would not be put on by the UFC. The billionaire announced that he and Zuckerberg would be in charge of the event.

“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC).
Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.
I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location.”

Reaction has been mixed to the potential fight, some believe that it makes a joke of the sport while some think that it could bring more eyes to it.

As more days pass, the possibility of a Mark Zuckerberg Vs. Elon Musk’s MMA bout seems more likely. However, the question remains: where would be a fitting venue for such a historic event?

Mark Zuckerberg is the CEO of Meta, while Musk owns the social media platform ‘X’, in addition to owning SpaceX and Tesla.

The pair have been going tit for tat on social media for a while now expressing a desire to go toe to toe with one another, ever since Mark Zuckerberg’s interest in MMA hit the internet.

UFC President Dana White instantly expressed his interest in promoting the fight and has even made merchandise to promote more hype around the prospect of the fight.

Regardless his tactics have worked, as it seems like the two billionaires have had no trouble agreeing to fight it’s just the logistics to figure out.

White has even told Mike Tyson this week that he had spoken to Gennaro Sangiuliano’s team about holding the event in Rome’s Colosseum

Mark Zuckerberg Vs. Elon Musk at the Colosseum?

Both Zuckerberg and Musk mentioned the Colosseum in Rome as a potential location, despite there not being a recorded ‘fight’ there since 400 AD.

However, Dana White has said he has already made the inquiries and spoken to Italy’s culture minister about the prospect of staging a cage fight between Zuckerberg and Musk within the Colosseum.

“It’s real, it’s real, they do wanna fight. We were literally talking about the Colosseum for that fight,” White said.

“I actually did have a meeting with the minister of culture’s team in Italy to actually have that fight in the Colosseum, if it would happen… It would be MMA. We’re talking. No steroids, no steroids allowed; these guys would be drug tested. Zuckerberg takes this s*** very seriously. He is a huge UFC fan, he trains. He’s an MMA fan, I should say. Elon grew up doing judo, he’s a legit judo guy.”

Dana White believes if he was able to get everything over the line this would be the biggest combat sports event of all time, estimating that it would make over $1 billion in revenue.

“This is one of those fights that, if we did do that, I would build a killer undercard with tons of great fights and them in the main event. But think about how big that fight is! Two of the richest, most powerful guys in the f***ing world are gonna fight on the biggest stage ever.

White continued: “Everybody would [pay for it]! Who doesn’t wanna see that fight? That’s the kind of fight your grandmother would watch. [Donald] Trump would have to fight [Vladimir] Putin for a fight to be bigger than that.”

Who would leave with their hands raised, Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk?

UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov has declined the opportunity to train tech billion Elon Musk ahead of his highly-anticipated clash with fellow social media mogul Mark Zuckerberg.

After reaching out to ‘The Eagle’ for some help in the gym, Elon Musk was likely disappointed to find out that Nurmagomedov has no interest in being part of their combat sports circus. That is according to a representative of the former lightweight world champion, who told Russian news outlet TASS that Nurmagomedov had respectfully declined Musk’s offer.

Elon Musk wanted Khabib Nurmagomedov to help him prepare for the fight against Zuckerberg. However, Khabib declined this proposal, and we do not know the reasons [for his refusal].”

In a follow-up statement, Nurmagomedov’s representative revealed that the undefeated icon declined the opportunity based on philosophical differences between the two men when it comes to “life, alcohol, and drugs.”

“According to representatives of Khabib Nurmagomedov, he refused because he trains only his guys, whom he knows personally,” the report read. “It could also have a negative impact on the image of the wrestler, since and Musk have different views on life, alcohol, and drugs. Khabib refused for reasons of principle. He ended his coaching and sports career, nothing can change that. Musk’s status also does not play any role. Although Khabib regularly receives offers both to be a coach and to return to sports” (h/t Sportskeeda).

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg Call in the Big Guns to Prepare for Their Clash in the Cage

Elon Musk shouldn’t be too heartbroken considering he already has another UFC Hall of Famer helping him ahead of the billionaire beatdown. Former two-division world champion Georges St-Pierre was thrilled for the opportunity to train with someone that he truly admires and the pair have already been spotted putting in work together

But the Terror of Twitt… X will need all the help he can get as his proposed opponent, Mark Zuckerberg has enlisted the help of several big guns in the world of mixed martial arts, including reigning UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski, and five-time IBJJF world champion Mikey Musumeci.

No official date or location has been revealed for the social media smackdown, but Elon Musk recently revealed that the bout would stream live on X (formerly Twitter) with all proceeds going to charity.
