With the United States once again reeling from another unnecessary mass shooting, Fox News host Sean Hannity offered his personal security plan to stop incidents like this from happening.

On Wednesday night, a mass shooting took place at the Sparetime Recreation bowling alley and a restaurant in Lewiston, Maine. 18 individuals were reportedly killed in the attack and at least 50 more were injured.

“I always ask the question when something like this happens what is your plan? What do you do?” Hannity said on Wednesday night’s show. “I have a personal security plan. I train in mixed martial arts. I’ve been a big believer in the Second Amendment for a long time with the prayer I would never have to use it” (h/t The Wrap).

Forty-year-old trained firearms instructor Robert Card has been named as a “person of interest” in the ongoing investigation. It was revealed by investigators that Card had previously threatened to attack the National Guard base in Saco and that he recently reported suffering from mental health issues.

Fox News’ Sean Hannity Suggests MMA is a better answer than gun reform to quell the pandemic of mass shootings in America

By mid-September, the United States had already surpassed 500 mass shootings in 2023. That number has seen a significant increase in recent years with 335 mass shootings being reported in 2018. Last year, there were a reported 665 mass shooting incidents. Clearly, something needs to be done, but Hannity seems to believe learning a little jiu-jitsu is a better answer than gun reform.

“I can literally probably count the seconds before an incident like this becomes politicized and that part of it I never like,” the Fox News host said, implying that demanding reforms to gun laws in the wake of shootings is unseemly. “Because that’s not going to bring back lives.”

Users on X were quick to call out Sean Hannity and his ignorant comments with one saying, “MMA won’t stop rounds from an assault rifle.”

Each time these mass shootings occur people like @seanhannity sound more ridiculous,” another user wrote.
