Lee Mein Arrested for Felony Sexual Battery, Blocked From Cornering Son at UFC Fight Night 49

Jordan Mein seemed to be firing on all cylinders when he TKO’d Mike Pyle in a little over a minute at UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa on Saturday. But missing from Mein’s corner was his father Lee Mein — a veteran MMA fighter himself — who was blocked from his usual cornerman duties due to a Friday afternoon arrest for felony sexual battery.

The elder Mein was accused of assaulting a maid at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa, the host hotel for the event, just before UFC Fight Night 49 weigh-ins. Lee Mein was taken into custody, then released after posting $2,000 bond early Saturday morning. Nevertheless, UFC officials didn’t want him around that night. Here’s the official statement from UFC.com:

We were made aware that James Lee Mein, father of UFC competitor Jordan Mein, was arrested yesterday on allegations of felony sexual battery. Mr. Mein is accused of felony sexual battery during an encounter with a housekeeper at the UFC’s host hotel in Tulsa, Okla. The UFC finds the allegations against Mr. Mein deplorable and we fully support local law enforcement in its investigation. The UFC is also prohibiting Mr. Mein from attending tonight’s event. Jordan Mein will remain on tonight’s card.”

A fixture on the Canadian MMA scene since 2000, Lee Mein (now 47 years old) has jobbed his way to a 6-13 pro record as a heavyweight, and most recently lost to Tim Hague by TKO in February at WSOF Canada: Ford vs. Powell in February. At this point, Jordan Mein’s only public comment on the matter was to say that his father’s arrest wasn’t a distraction.

After the jump, the police affadavit adds more details about the housekeeper’s accusations…

BREAKING: War Machine Captured Alive by U.S. Marshals in Simi Valley, CA

(Mugshot to come. For now, this selfie will have to suffice.)

The manhunt is over. War Machine was arrested this afternoon in Simi Valley, California, on suspicion of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack and Corey Thomas, early in the morning on August 8th. Here’s the official statement from the Simi Valley Police Department:

The United States Marshal’s Service requested assistance from the Simi Valley Police Department to effect the arrest of Jonathan “War Machine” Koppenahver on 8/15/14 at approximately 1:45 P.M.

The United States Marshal possessed an arrest warrant for Koppenhaver stemming from an incident in Las Vegas Nevada last week. Koppenhaver was a former resident of Simi Valley and the Marshals investigation indicated he was possibly staying in Simi Valley, CA.

Further investigation revealed he was staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel located at 2498 Stearns Street in Simi Valley. Simi Valley Officers along side United States Marshals pinpointed his exact room and arrested him without incident.

Inside the room was a small quantity of cash and some pizza. The United States Marshal’s Service turned Mr. Koppenhaver over to the Simi Valley Police Department for booking on his warrant from Nevada. He was transported to the Ventura County Jail.

All further inquiries should be directed to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department or the United States Marshals Service. Simi Valley Police are providing this as notification of the incident and have no further investigative role in the criminal investigation.

In the end, the fighter born Jon Koppenhaver hadn’t fled to Canada or Mexico, as was rumored — he simply jumped the Nevada/California border and holed up in a budget hotel with some pizza. We’re thankful that this story didn’t end with a suicide or a hail of gunfire, and whatever justice is served will come from a trial. It’s a good day.

Update: More Awful Details From Josh Grispi’s Domestic Assault Case; Death Threat Text Messages Released

(Josh Grispi and Buddy the Pitbull, back in June 2011. / Photo via @joshgrispi)

In the wake of yesterday’s initial report about Josh Grispi‘s pair of arrests for assaulting his wife Kaitlyn — including the already-infamous detail about Grispi training his pitbull to attack her — WickedLocal has released an updated report about the situation, which paints the UFC/WEC veteran as a stone-cold sociopath. This is how it all went down, in chronological order…

– On Friday, Kaitlyn Grispi sent her mother Karen Fava a photo of herself with multiple bruises on her face and bleeding lips, taken after Josh had allegedly beaten her the day before. Fava showed the photo to the Middleboro Police Department, and officers visited the Grispis’ home that day to speak with Kaitlyn, who agreed to get an emergency restraining order against her husband and temporarily give custody of their two children to Fava.

– Grispi was then arrested for assault and battery, as well as multiple counts of improperly storing firearms near minors. “Inside the house police found handguns, rifles, an assault rifle and ammunition all belonging to Joshua. Most of the guns were unsecured and some were sitting in boxes inside their bedroom, police said. Next to their bed was a playpen with their 1-year-old daughter inside.”

– On Monday, Grispi posted $2,000 bail after his arraignment, and returned to his home. We’ll let WickedLocal take it from here:

Kaitlyn was supposed to extend the restraining order but didn’t do so because she “thought Joshua would be better,” court records show…

Things deteriorated quickly as Joshua began to yell at Kaitlyn about a pile of wood he had been looking for.

“Kaitlyn said she ran down the street and hid under a bush and Joshua found her. Joshua then began punching her in the head and forced her into the home,” court documents show. “Joshua got her inside the house and kept punching and kicking her over and over. Joshua was yelling at her, ‘You want me to (expletive) kill you?’”

Joshua was yelling at her, ‘You want me to (expletive) kill you?’”

She ran into a bathroom, and Joshua sent the dog after her before she managed to get out of the bathroom and run out of the house to her neighbor’s home, police said.

Police responded and arrested Joshua again Monday night. Another search of the house found more ammunition, 20 marijuana plants, 15 grams of cocaine and two teacup pot-belly pigs being kept as pets in the basement.

The dog and pigs have been put in the custody of animal control.

Kaitlyn told police her husband had been abusive to her for the past two years in their three-year marriage.

“She had been afraid to come forward because she has been threatened that he would kill her and her family,” court records show.

– Kaitlyn Grispi suffered bite marks on her legs during the dog attack, as well as bruises and scratches all over her body. And then there’s this: “Joshua would often choke the dog unconscious after the attacks, court records show.”

– Kaitlyn also has proof of the death threats that Josh had made against her. Court records reveal text messages that Josh sent to his wife over the last week:

“UR (expletive) dead and if u even try n bring my kids into it the worse it will b for u and if u try and make a seen (sic) I’ll choke u unconscious and smash ur throat and if u get worse n run around after I’m goin to let Buddy have at u and I’ll walk out of the room.”

“Don’t cure (sic) you whore, That’s all u think abor (sic) ur a (expletive) scum bag piece of (expletive) who I’m goin enjoy choking to death.”

“U better not b bluffing about cops cuz I don’t joke ur dead when I see u… Literally. I don’t care I’m going to beat u n throw u to buddy, Ur dead.”

Grispi is currently being held without bail (thank God), and will be due back in court October 3rd.

Of all the harrowing falls from grace in MMA history, Grispi’s story might be the worst of all time. In October 2010 he was set to face Jose Aldo at UFC 125 in the UFC’s first-ever featherweight title fight, following an incredible stint in the WEC. A month later, Aldo pulled out of the fight due to injury, and Grispi stayed on the UFC 125 card against Dustin Poirier. Grispi lost the fight by unanimous decision, and his title hopes went up in smoke.

Grispi would go on to lose three more consecutive UFC fights against George Roop, Rani Yahya, and Andy Ogle, and was released by the UFC in February 2013. But now, instead of being a footnote in MMA history, Josh Grispi will be best known for siccing his dog on his wife and then choking the dog. What the hell is wrong with people.

WEC/UFC Veteran Josh Grispi Charged For Horrific Assault Against Wife

(Photo via Getty)

Well, this is disturbing. According to a report by Wicked Local, former WEC/UFC fighter contender Josh “The Fluke” Grispi has been arrested and charged in a particularly heinous domestic abuse case, which included two separate assaults against his wife over a four day span and a trained pitbull attack. No joke, this sick f*cker brought an animal into the equation. Read on, if you can.

“It’s the worst case of domestic abuse I’ve ever seen,” police officer Richard Harvey said.

Harvey said the victim, Kaitlin Grispi, was mauled by Grispi’s pit bull, which had been trained to attack her. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was later released and has been reunited with her two young children.

Grispi is charged with two counts of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of violating a restraining order, animal cruelty, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, drug possession to cultivate marijuana and improper storage of a large capacity firearm and rifle or shotgun near a child.

After originally being arrested and released last Friday on $2,000 bail for the initial assault, Grispi was arrested again yesterday (while “his 3-year-old was sitting next to a box of guns and ammunition when police arrived,” BTW) and had his bail revoked. According to the article, Grispi is currently being held in the Plymouth House of Correction but pleaded innocent to all charges.

This is normally the point in the article where I’d give you a rundown of Grispi’s professional career over the past few years, but f*ck this piece of sh*t. If these charges have any truth to them, I hope they hang him by his toes and skin him alive. Or better yet, give him the old Django Unchained dog treatment. Seems fitting.

We’ll have more on this story as it develops. (Seriously though, f*ck you Josh Grispi.)

Aleksander Emelianenko Simply Cannot Stop Being Arrested For Horrifying Sh*t

(“Please, Mr. Bones, tell me more about this ‘persecution complex’ you speak of.”)

For a former monk or a guy who at least spent a decent amount of time around them, Aleksander Emelianenko seems to have almost no understanding of concepts like self-control, humility, or respect for his fellow man (I hear he bakes a mean pumpernickel, though). In the past year, Emelianenko non-Fedor has gone full off the deep end, assaulting an elderly man on his birthday in a Moscow cafe, terrorizing a plane full of unwitting passengers, and winding up on Russia’s “Most Wanted” list for a bizarre combination of passport theft and housekeeper abuse.

And now, he’s went and committed perhaps the most despicable act of them all: Sexual Assault. Although details remain up in the air at the moment, MMABoxing.ru is reporting that the former PRIDE star is currently in custody and facing a possible prison sentence of four-to-six years, with the charges against him including everything from theft to sexual assault. Said the unidentified victim’s lawyer:

First, the court should extend Emelianenko’s arrest, which ends June 30. And we will defend our position that he is a threat to society. Most likely, Emelianenko will get imprisonment from four-to-six years. We will insist on that.

Something tells me this poor woman’s lawyer won’t have all too difficult a time proving that Emelianenko is a “threat to society.” Multiple assaults, thefts, drunk and disorderlies…all Aleks needs is a bath salt-fueled B&E to capture the Mayhem Miller Triple Crown of Douchebaggery, for Christ’s sake.

Of course, one has to wonder how Emelianenko has managed to avoid imprisonment for the bevy of charges he was facing prior to his most recent arrest. Thankfully, I’ve done some extensive research on this subject and think I’ve come up with an answer…

Yes, goooood. Let the hepatitis flow through you.

We will have more on this story as it develops, but in the meantime, let’s just go ahead and slap a CagePotato Ban on Aleksander Emelianenko as a human being.

Renzo Gracie and Igor Gracie Arrested Following Alleged Beating of Nightclub Doorman in New York

(This video doesn’t show any of the actual brawl, but it does feature a dude calling Renzo a “f*ckin’ legend” over and over again. / Props: Sherdog)

The last time Renzo Gracie beat the hell out of somebody in New York, we all had a good laugh about it. But his latest public altercation sent him to jail on Sunday night — and might tarnish his good-guy reputation.

As reported earlier today by Sherdog and the New York Post, Renzo and his cousin Igor Gracie were arrested in Manhattan last night following a brawl outside of the nightclub 1-OAK:

Sherdog.com was able to obtain a video following the alleged altercation from an anonymous witness who recorded the scene on a camera phone. According to the witness, Gracie arrived at the club in a group of approximately seven men and immediately went to the front of the line.

Gracie then became involved in a confrontation with what the witness described as the doorman. Things escalated from there, as Gracie’s group allegedly squared off with a group of 1-Oak bouncers. According to the witness, Gracie at one point had the doorman in full mount, while another one of his group hit a different bouncer with a construction cone.

The fracas spilled into the street, with more punches being thrown. Eventually the police arrived and arrested everyone in Gracie’s party, while an ambulance came for the bouncer who had been mounted by Gracie, according to the witness. It was unclear as to why Gracie and his group were originally upset.

The New York Post‘s report adds a couple more details, delivered with a very anti-Gracie slant:

The New York Post‘s report adds a couple more details, delivered with a very anti-Gracie slant:

Two top mixed-martial-arts fighters — part of the famed Gracie clan — were busted for helping to beat a bouncer to a pulp outside a Manhattan celeb hangout early Monday, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Renzo Gracie and his cousin Igor were arrested along with five other people for the 1:30 a.m. beat-down of the worker outside 1 OAK in the Meatpacking District, sources said.

The victim suffered a fractured right arm along with bruises and cuts, sources said.

The hulking cousins — whose Brazilian family started the sports-promoting business Ultimate Fighting Championship — were charged with gang assault, as were the other suspects. The charge for Renzo and Igor Gracie is in the second degree…

“People who train this kind of stuff have no business getting into street fights — it’s completely unfair,’’ said a disgusted law-enforcement source. “These guys really should have known better”…

The thugs were busted in front of the trendy West 17th Street club, where celebs such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz hang out.

Renzo just wanted to party with Leo DiCaprio, bro, and now a major NYC newspaper is referring to him as a “hulking thug.” Not good. We’ll update you when we know more…
