A Bellator Welterweight Tournament rematch between Douglas ‘The Phenom’ Lima (24-5) and Ben ‘Killa B’ Saunders (16-5-2) for the Season Eight crown has been postponed due to a broken hand Lima suffered in his last fight.

Lima earned a first round knockout victory over replacement fighter Bryan Baker at Bellator 90 last month in Utah, possibly breaking his hand with the one punch KO.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney posted the update on Twitter (@BjornRebney), revealing that the two Season Five finalists would meet sometime this summer.

Lima meanwhile posted this x-ray of his broken hand on Facebook along with the message “So disappointed but looks like I wont be able to fight March 21st. I broke my hand against Baker and doctor told me not to fight. So I thank @BjornRebney and @bellatorMMA for moving the final against Saunders to next season. Thank you guys and I’ll keep you updated!”

Lima and Saunders were scheduled to meet on March 21, 2013 at Bellator 93 in Lewiston, Maine. Now the two will meet at a 2013 Summer Series event.

In their first meeting, back at Bellator 57 in November 2011 in the Season Five welterweight final, Lima walked away the victor with a second round knockout finish.

Lima went on to face Bellator champ Ben Askren in April 2012, losing that match by decision. Since then ‘The Phenom’ has won two straight including finishes over Michael Tsarev and Bryan Baker to earn his way into the finals.

Saunders has also won three straight with victories against Raul Amaya and Koffi Adzitso in the Season Eight Tournament. ‘Killa B’ also competed in the Season Six tournament, losing by decision to Baker in the semi-finals.

Australian heavyweight Soa ‘The Hulk’ Palelei (18-3) was signed to a four-fight contract by the Ultimate Fighting Championship after one appearance in the Octagon back at UFC 79. Now it appears that Palelei has his first fight of his new contract and is rumored to face Croatian-American Stipe Miocic (9-1) this June as part of the UFC 161 card.

No official announcement has surfaced from the promotion reference the bout or the event (at time of writing), but FightNewsAustralia.com says that a source revealed to them the Palelei vs. Miocic bout for the expected Winnipeg, Canada event.

UFC 161 is expected to take place on June 15, 2013 and marks the promotions first visit to the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Three bouts are already in the works as light heavyweights Antonio Rogerio Nogueira takes on Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, while Dan Henderson faces Rashad Evans, as well as welterweights Jake Shields vs. Tyron Woodley.

Through a press-release, Palelei thanked the promotion for a second chance inside the Octagon.

“I’m thankful to Dana White and Joe Silva for giving me this opportunity to come back to the UFC to showcase my skills,” Palelei commented in the release. “With determination, hard work and a great team, I’m happy to say that today I have signed with the UFC. I look forward to competing in the best organization in the world,” he added.

‘The Hulk’ has rattled off eight straight wins, all by (T)KO, and is 10-1 in his last eleven matches. Palelei made his Octagon debut back in December 2007 at UFC 79, losing by third round TKO to Eddie Sanchez. Since then he’s gone on to rattle off ten wins, all stoppages, with one loss which was to Daniel Cormier. Palelei’s most recent win came in December in an Australian Fighting Championship title defense as he beat former UFC heavyweight Sean McCorkle by first round TKO.

Miocic lost for the first time in his career last September in Nottingham, UK suffering a second round TKO loss to Stefan Struve at the UFC on FUEL TV 5 event. The defeat ended a string of three straight wins inside the Octagon which saw Miocic defeat Shane del Rosario at UFC 146, Phil De Fries at UFC on FUEL TV 1, and Joey Beltran at UFC 136.

The matchup was announced by Brazilian news agency Esportes.br.msn.com on Friday.

UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Rockhold (aka UFC on FX 8) is expected to take place on May 18, 2013 at the Arena Jaraguá in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil. The television event is headlined by a middleweight bout between former UFC champ Vitor Belfort and the last Strikeforce title holder Luke Rockhold.

With all of the cuts to the UFC fighter ranks, the loser between Thiago and Benoist is certain to receive a pink slip with both men entering the match after two-straight losses.

Thiago is 1-4 in his last five bouts having lost a decision to Dong Hyun Kim last November at UFC Macau as well as suffering a 42-second knockout loss to Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in April. Thiago’s last win came in August 2011 at UFC 134 which saw the Brazilian earn a decision against David Mitchell.

Benoist is 1-2 in the Octagon with an appearance at UFC 152 in his last fight. At the Toronto event, Benoist would lose by unanimous decision to Canadian Sean Pierson. The other loss, the first of his career, took place in June of last year at UFC on FX 3 with a split decision defeat at the hands of Seth Baczynski. His only win went down at UFN 25 in September 2011 with a decision over Matt Riddle.
