Watch The Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg Weigh Ins Here Beginning At 7PM EST

Today’s weigh-ins for Saturday’s Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg event will begin this afternoon beginning at 7 PM EST (4 PM PST) from the HP Pavilion Concourse in San Jose, Calif.

The MMA News will carry the live video courtesy of Strikeforce.com.

Saturday’s main card will air live on Showtime at 10 PM EST. Sherdog.com will also be streaming six preliminary bouts on their website beginning at 8:15 PM EST (5:15 PM PST).

UFC Fight Night 24 PosterAn undercard bout between UFC heavyweights Mike Russow (13-1,1 NC) vs. Jon Madsen (7-0) was made official today for the upcoming UFC Fight Night: Ortiz vs. Nogueira event. The bout completes an eleven fight card set for March 26 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.

Spike TV will broadcast a four-fight main card that evening featuring matches between headliners Tito Ortiz vs. Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson, Amir Sadollah vs. Duane Ludwig, and Leonard Garcia vs Nam Phan II.

Russow makes his first octagon appearance since come-from-behind knockout victory over Todd Duffee in May at UFC 114. The third round KO earned him the “Knockout of the Night” bonus. It was his ninth straight victory and second in the UFC.

Madsen remains undefeated and is 4-0 in the UFC since making his promotion debut as part of “The Ultimate Fighter” season ten finale in December of 2009. His last fight was against Gilbert Yvel at UFC 121 in October, earning a TKO victory in the first round.

medicalsuspensions8dThe Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has saw fit to suspend a total of five fighters from last Saturday’s UFC: Fight for the Troops 2 event, which took place at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas.

Topping the list of suspensions were Matt Mitrione and Willamy Freire who both received indefinite sentences for injuries suffered in their bouts.

Mitrione injured his left hand during his first-round TKO win over Tim Hague in the co-main event. He can be cleared to return if he receives clearance from a doctor first. The win was Mitrione’s fourth as a professional fighter and fourth as a UFC fighter.

Freire received his indefinite suspension for damage to his right hand and cheek. He lost a unanimous decision to Waylon Lowe in his UFC debut as part of the last prelim bout of the evening. He can have the suspension lifted once he is cleared by the proper specialist for each of his injuries.

• Matt Mitrione: Suspended indefinitely due to injured left hand and must be cleared by an orthopedist.

• Willamy Freire: Suspended indefinitely due to injuries to the right hand and right cheek and must be cleared by an orthopedist and facial surgeon.

• Evan Dunham: Suspended until Feb. 22 as a precaution.

• Tim Hague: Suspended until Feb. 22 as a precaution.

• George Roop: Suspended until Feb. 22 as a precaution.
