Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia is certainly one of the most recognizable MMA names that isn’t currently signed by a major promotion, but that hasn’t stopped Sylvia from competing. Sylvia last stepped into the ring against 5 time “World’s Strongest Man” Mariusz Pudzianowski and took an easy victory, and is scheduled to fight for Moosin again in October, though there’s been no opponent announced yet. Sylvia recently did an interview with MMA Sports Mag and talked about his interest in returning to the UFC, or perhaps signing with Strikeforce:
Right now, I am just focusing on these next fights. If I pick up a couple wins, maybe that will lead to something eventually with UFC or Strikeforce. But I’d like to get back in there with one of the top 2, either UFC or Strikeforce…

SEOUL, S. Korea (July 14, 2010) – Moosin officials and the face of the MMA promotional company, Eric “Butterbean” Esch, greatly differ in their opinions of former 5-time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz “Dominator” Pudzianowski, in terms of rating the Polish strongman as a mixed-martial-arts fighter.
Moosin officials believe Pudzianowski has tremendous potential and that he should be featured on Moosin’s proposed October 9 show in Chicago. Mariusz, who has reportedly been training hard in his native Poland to develop his MMA skills, will arrive in Massachusetts by the end of July to begin training with former boxer “Irish” Micky Ward, as well as two former All-America wrestlers, in order to learn the basics of boxing and wrestling to improve his overall MMA game.
However, based on Pudzianowki’s second-round loss by submission to former 2-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia this past May in Worcester, Massachusetts, “Butterbean” doesn’t think Mariusz deserves to be showcased again on a Moosin pay-per-view event, at least not until he proves himself in the cage.
“I know he allegedly broke his foot in the fight against Sylvia,” Butterbean criticized Pudzianowski, “but he didn’t show anything before he quit. Pudzianowski has no stand-up and as strong as he is, he punches like a girl. All he does is throw arm punches. He needs a lot of help. He’s the 5-time World’s Strongest Man but hits like a 130-pounder, not a strong man who weighs 270 pounds. He doesn’t have the skill level to get to the level he wants to fight.
“Once he gets a stand-up game – you can’t have a ground game working without one – he could be a force in MMA. He still needs some work on his ground game, too. We all know he’s very strong but that’s not enough at the highest level of MMA. I don’t know who has been coaching him but that trainer should be fired. Pudzianowski needs to prove himself, showing he has a good stand-up game by beating a good MMA fighter, before he gets another big fight like a spot on the October 9th show.”

It didn’t take long for Moosin USA promoter Eric "Butterbean" Esch to go into damage control when he saw his potential October 9 main event slip through his fingertips.
A day after Sherdog’s Loretta Hunt quashed Moosin executive Corey Fischer’s claim in a report by MMAFighting that the promotion was finalizing a marquee bout between Kimbo Slice and Mariusz Pudzianowski for the planned Chicago show, Butterbean has spun the situation in a press release sent out by the organization earlier today.

After a successful U.S. debut earlier in the year, the Moosin promotion is scheduling an Oct. 9 follow-up, which will take place in Chicago, MMA Fighting has learned.
Moosin executive Corey Fischer has confirmed the organization’s intention for a second show, and said the current plans include bringing back previous headliners Tim Sylvia and Mariusz Pudzianowski, in separate fights.
If Moosin gets their way, they’ll come to the Second City with Sylvia fighting 7-foot-2 Korean Hong Man Choi, and five-time “World’s Strongest Man” Pudzianowski taking on popular former EliteXC and UFC star Kimbo Slice in feature bouts.
Despite a report by MMAFighting.com earlier on Tuesday, Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will not be facing the world’s strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski on an October 9th Moosin event. The second Moosin event held on U.S. soil will take place in Chicago.

Moosin exec Corey Fischer said the promotion was trying to put together a “Kimbo” vs. Pudzianowski fight for Moosin’s October show but nothing has been finalized. He also said the event could include former UFC champ Tim Sylvia and Korean giant Hong Man Choi.
“I would say the Kimbo-Pudzian fight is the furthest from being finished, but we’re trying to work on it and make it happen,” Fischer said.
Sherdog.com reporter, Loretta Hunt messaged “Slice’s” manager to inquire about the fight against the Polish strong man, posting this note on her Twitter account.
I just did a quick text with Kimbo’s manager, who said “NO”, Kimbo is not fighting on Moosin in Sept.
Pudzianowski is coming off a loss to Tim Sylvia at the first U.S. Moosin event in May after tapping due to strikes. While “Kimbo Slice” is coming off a loss in his last and final fight under the UFC banner against fellow “TUF” housemate Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in the same month of May.
Moosin is certainly trying to be entertaining by putting together fights that are more freakish than competitive, but hey, if not them then who?
If after watching Kimbo Slice get dominated by Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in May, you thought the former Youtube star’s days in MMA were numbered, you probably could use some lessons in economics. If you said to yourself ‘there’s still some decent money to be made with Kimbo, especially if he takes on another dude who’s also […]
If after watching Kimbo Slice get dominated by Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in May, you thought the former Youtube star’s days in MMA were numbered, you probably could use some lessons in economics. If you said to yourself ‘there’s still some decent money to be made with Kimbo, especially if he takes on another dude who’s also more famous for his achievements outside the cage than in it,’ we’re guessing you got a C or higher in Marketing 101.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, the Moosin promotion is looking at pitting Kimbo against five time “World’s Strongest Man” Mariusz Pudzianowski, October 9th in Chicago. The 33 year-old fighter has gone 2-1 thus far in MMA, and like Slice, due to successes in his previous vocation, Pudzianowski hasn’t exactly had to fight for lunch money upon transitioning into MMA. You may recall that the former truck puller / log lifter is coming off a stoppage loss to Tim Sylvia in the main event of Moosin’s first card in May.
In other words, Moosin knows that people will tune in to see Slice vs. Pudzianowski, even though both men aren’t exactly regarded as ‘world class’ fighters…(we’d watch). The MMA Fighting story also includes a quote from Moosin promoter Corey Fischer, who despite their interest in putting together the Slice / Pudzianowski fight, stated it “is the furthest from being finished.”
