This past Friday (August 31, 2012) in Manila, Philippines the Asian based ONE Fighting Championship promotion held the ‘Pride of a Nation’ event featuring eleven matches. The event saw two Gracie’s pick up wins, the renewed rivalry between Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia, as well as wins by Eduard Folayang and Bibiano Fernandes.

Press Release – 31 August 2012 – Manila, Philippines : ONE Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC) Asia’s largest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization scored a successful debut in the fight capital of Asia, Manila, with ONE FC: PRIDE OF A NATION. The largest event held in the Philippines proved to be a night of explosive action with a series of world class MMA battles at the SMART ARANETA Coliseum. Local heroes Eduard Folayang and Eric Kelly fought their way to victory in front of a roaring home crowd.
MMA fans were treated to the sensational debut of Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes in the ONE FC cage tonight as he dominated Gustavo Falciroli for three full rounds to take the decision.
The packed SMART ARANETA Coliseum also witnessed an unforgettable night of action as Filipino heroes Eduard Folayang and Eric Kelly slugged and maneuvered their way to victory. Folayang made good use of his infamous spinning back kicks and powerful right hand to control his opponent, Felipe Enomoto, earning him a unanimous decision at the end of Round 3. Kelly continued to impress fans and spectators in Manila and around the world by defeating MMA legend Jens Pulver by TKO (Punches) in Round 2.

The Asian based ONE Fighting Championship promotion is set to hold it’s latest event, “Pride of a Nation” this weekend at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines. The August 31, event is headlined by a bantamweight bout between Bibiano ‘The Flash’ Fernandes and Gustavo Falciroli. Missing from the eleven bout card is reigning DREAM lightweight champ Shinya Aoki. Aoki had been listed on the card previously, but without an opponent. It appears that ‘The Baka Survivor’ is off the card but is expected to appear at the promotions October event.
Folayang is an accomplished Wushu fighter who brings unadulterated aggression and has the stamina to keep coming at opponents for the whole three rounds. Enomoto’s style is more conventional but what these two fighters both have in common is their incredible heart. Enomoto showed against Laursen that he has the power and speed to stop absolutely any fighter in the world with a single strike or submission attempt.
For Enomoto this fight is make or break, he needs to prove his critics wrong and if he doesn’t do it at ONE FC: Pride of a Nation, he may never get another chance. For Folayang this is simply the biggest fight of his night, 16,500 fans will be cheering for him in Manila and for this passionate Filipino champion, losing is simply not an option.
