“I have re-signed. I’ve got a new deal, a multi-fight, multi-year deal that also allows me to pro wrestle,” Bhullar revealed. “It’s a one of a kind deal, we haven’t seen in MMA. I know we’ve seen people like Ronda [Rousey] and Cain [Velasquez] get busy but that was after [fighting was done]. We’ve come to terms with ONE, absolutely.”

Bhullar had been allegedly at odds with the top executives at ONE over his contract after he won the heavyweight title over Brandon Vera last April. The promotion ended up booking an interim heavyweight title during the tense back-and-forths, with Anatoly Malykhin earning the interim belt.

Bhullar was supposed to face Vera in May 2020, before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, he had won three straight during stints in the UFC and ONE, including his ONE debut over Mauro Cerilli.

After a win in the UFC over Juan Adams, Bhullar signed with ONE despite wins in three of his four Octagon appearances.

A matchup with Malykhin seems to be the next logical move for Bhullar and ONE, but Malykhin is stuck in Russia due to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Bhullar has also expressed interest in joining professional wrestling promotions such as WWE and AEW while he competes in ONE.

An announcement regarding Bhullar’s next fight in ONE could come soon.

Amazon’s Prime Video supports a variety of live sports around the world, including the NFL’s Thursday Night Football and the Premier League in the UK. ONE will host at least 12 full live events exclusively on Prime Video annually, with the first scheduled event to be announced later this year.

“ONE Championship is thrilled to work with Prime Video, one of the largest premium sports content providers in the world, to bring our live events closer to fans in the United States and Canada,” CEO Chatri Sityodtong said. “As the world’s largest martial arts organization, we believe our collaboration with Prime Video will allow us to reach a wider North American audience that is hungry for an authentic and differentiated product you simply cannot get with any other organization. There is one particular US city that ONE Championship’s Demetrious Johnson misses fighting in more than any other.

Demetrious Johnson had a long and successful run in the UFC before embarking on his journey with ONE Championship. Since signing with ONE Championship, Johnson has only fought in Asia. Although that is to be expected in the Asian-based promotion, there could be a chance he could fight again in the United States in the future.

Johnson was asked about this possibility in an interview with The MMA Hour.

“Yeah, it’s definitely in the works,” Johnson said. “Obviously, with COVID-19 and with ONE Championship being a Singapore-based promotion, trying to get over here is a lot more effort, especially with all the—I think COVID is really holding it back, to be honest with you. That’s the biggest thing.”

Johnson was the longest-running UFC flyweight champion ever before losing his title to Henry Cejudo back in 2018. Following that loss, he was involved in an unprecedented “trade” between the UFC and ONE Championships.

In return for him joining ONE Championship, the UFC received Ben Askren. The future in ONE Championship seemed bright for Johnson and he has since done fairly well. He won the ONE Championship Flyweight Grand Prix but failed to win the championship.

Even though Johnson found success in Asia, he has revealed one US city he’d love to fight in again.

“Yeah, I mean, the only place I miss fighting is Vegas,” Johnson said. “I just love fighting in Vegas. There’s no taxes, it’s a three-hour flight, everything is open, great, amazing food. But I have been really enjoying fighting over in Asia. Only thing I don’t like about it is the time difference, and the travel is like 18 hours, so it’s pretty brutal.”

UFC legend and ONE Championship flyweight Demetrious Johnson has described the difference between his fighting mindset and that of rising star Paddy Pimblett.

While Johnson, a former dominant champion on MMA’s biggest stage, has been at the top of the sport for a number of years, Pimblett has only recently broken through onto the mainstream scene. He’s done so via back-to-back finishes in his first two UFC outings, as well as an entertaining and outspoken personality.

After dispatching Luigi Vendramini on debut last September, Pimblett’s sophomore outing came last month in front of a home crowd at UFC London. Given his first-round submission win and the memorable crowd reaction that followed, it’s safe to say the Englishman followed through on his pre-fight claims, both in terms of performance and his UK popularity.

But despite his rapid rise to fame outside the cage, Pimblett is expecting a slow approach to the top, which is to be dictated by his place on the UFC’s pay scale.

Following his debut, “The Baddy” suggested he wouldn’t be agreeing to a meeting in the cage with a top-10 opponent until he moves onto a six-figure UFC deal. During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, “Mighty Mouse” Johnson reacted to that stance.

While he understands Pimblett’s reluctance to face the best while on a $12k/$12k deal with the promotion, Johnson admitted that mindset is a far cry from how he approached his own early days in the UFC.

“Paddy Pimblett, he said, ‘Man, I’m not gonna fight a top 10 or top 15 (opponent).’ I’m like, ‘What?!’ See, my mindset back in the day when I fought, Matt (Hume) says, ‘We just f*ckin’ fight. That’s what we do. Don’t worry about the money, the money’s gonna come. Just keep on fighting, keep on fighting.’

“So when he (Pimblett) said, I think he said he won’t take or top 10 or top 15 ’cause he’s making 12 and 12 (thousand). I understand that. That is, you know, for how much he’s bringing to the table—contracts, it is what it is. Sh*t, when I first fought, it was three and three.”

Johnson Showed His Willingness To Fight The Best At ONE X

In regards to fighting the best in the sport, Johnson has certainly put his money where his mouth is, not only across the past decade but also in his most recent outing.

At ONE X, ONE Championship’s 10-year anniversary spectacle, “Mighty Mouse” took on a unique challenge. He featured in a mixed-rules superfight against the consensus Muay Thai best, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who boasts a mind-boggling 267-42-10 record in the striking discipline at the age of just 24.

Johnson cited his willingness to throw down with the Thai fighter outside of his comfort zone as evidence of how his mindset differs from that of Pimblett’s and other modern up-and-comers in the sport.

“Him (Pimblett) saying he won’t take a top 15, I’m like, when they were like, ‘Wanna fight Rodtang, the best fighter in the world?’ I was like, ‘Sure, let’s do it.’ They were like, ‘You wanna fight in Muay Thai?’ I was like, ‘I don’t even own a Muay Thai belt, but I’ll fight him in Muay Thai…’ We get paid to fight. We don’t get paid to pick and choose what we’re gonna do,” concluded Johnson.

What’s your take on Paddy Pimblett’s unwillingness to face a top-10 opponent on his current UFC contract?

After getting dropped, Harrison was able to power through and earn a first-round knockout over Muangthai.

Social media went wild reacting to Harrison’s come-from-behind win in what some call one of the greatest comebacks in ONE Championship history.

Harrison came into the fight having earned wins over Brayan Matias and Mohammed Bin Mahmoud in ONE Championship.

Harrison vs. Muangthai was far from the only entertaining fight on the card. In the co-main event, Smilla Sundell earned a unanimous decision win over Jackie Buntan for the inaugural Strawweight Muay-Thai Championship. This win made the 17-year-old the youngest champion in ONE history.

The main event also lived up to expectations as Regian Eersel won the ONE lightweight kickboxing title over Arian Sadikovic.
