ONE Championship has agreed to a multi-year deal with Prime Video for exclusive live coverage of their events in the United States and Canada.

ONE announced the news via a press release on Wednesday.

Amazon’s Prime Video supports a variety of live sports around the world, including the NFL’s Thursday Night Football and the Premier League in the UK. ONE will host at least 12 full live events exclusively on Prime Video annually, with the first scheduled event to be announced later this year.

“ONE Championship is thrilled to work with Prime Video, one of the largest premium sports content providers in the world, to bring our live events closer to fans in the United States and Canada,” CEO Chatri Sityodtong said. “As the world’s largest martial arts organization, we believe our collaboration with Prime Video will allow us to reach a wider North American audience that is hungry for an authentic and differentiated product you simply cannot get with any other organization. We look forward to showcasing the absolute greatest martial artists on the planet, right here in the ONE Championship Circle and on Prime Video.”

The ONE-Prime Video deal will make it easier for those living in the USA and Canada to tune in to fights. MMA journalist Ariel Helwani also reports that ONE will host its first US event in early 2023.

Those subscribed to Amazon Prime will get access to all of the ONE events with no extra fees or charges.

ONE has added other new elements to their promotion this year, including $50,000 performance bonuses, similar to those of the UFC.

ONE Championship has announced a new partnership deal with Amazon Prime for the markets of the US and Canada.

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong had hinted at a historic deal for the organization’s US broadcast in March this year. In the post-fight interview at ONE X, Demetrious Johnson teased a return in the summer but refused to share more details of what was coming next.

Sityodtong was asked by the press about DJ’s hint and said, “We’re gonna announce our US broadcast deal in mid-April. First time in the history of ONE that will be on a multi-year, regular primetime schedule on a major major broadcaster in the US. So yeah, DJ obviously featured. I think that’s what he’s talking about.” (h/t Sportskeeda)

Earlier today, Ariel Helwani broke the news of the partnership deal between ONE Championship with Amazon Prime. The Singapore-based organization has signed a five-year deal with Amazon Prime Video Sports for the territories of the USA and Canada.

The deal states a minimum of 12 events to be premiered live in the US primetime. At the time of the reporting, further details have not been revealed. Information regarding the first event and full calendar will be announced in the near future.

ONE Championship posted a tweet in the celebration of the partnership deal that will see the American fight fans connect with their favorite fighters once again on prime time.

ONE Championship’s rise in popularity

ONE has developed a big name for itself in the Asian market and has found ways to connect with international fans, especially in the North American market. Signing on Demetrious Johnson from the UFC was a major game-changer for the promotion. Johnson holds the record for most finishes in UFC flyweight history with seven and is currently ranked #1 in the ONE flyweight rankings.

The organization has put on exciting shows for its audience, with a recent hybrid Muay Thai/Mixed Martial Arts bout taking place between Johnson and Rodtang. DJ powered through the first round under Muay Thai rules to secure a second-round submission win over the Muay Thai specialist via a rear-naked choke.

You can now buy UFC pay-per-views on Amazon Prime after WME-IMG and Amazon executives came to a deal, according to Sports Business Daily.

The UFC’s television deal with FOX is up soon with the option of renewal, meanwhile, it’s been speculated that Amazon is looking to get into live sports, so who knows what could come of this deal.

FOX currently pays about $200 million a year to broadcast live UFC content, with many events being featured on FS1 and 2, two channels that only come with a premium cable package. Amazon Prime, on the other hand, is available to anyone with internet access, which would certainly broaden their accessibility.

Before the UFC even dreamed of a deal with FOX, they were broadcast live on SPIKE TV up until 2011, when the UFC officially made the switch.

Will Amazon pony up upwards of $200 million a year like FOX is to broadcast live UFC events? Or do you see FOX and the UFC coming to terms on a new deal?
