Pierre Poilievre Leads the Pack: Betting Odds Favor Conservatives for Canada's Next Prime Minister as Justin Trudeau Resigns

Justin Trudeau, Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister, has stepped down as leader of the Liberal Party after nearly a decade in office. His resignation, announced on January 6, 2025, marks the end of a political era defined by progressive policies on climate change, social programs, and middle-class support. However, Trudeau’s tenure in recent years faced increasing public dissatisfaction over soaring housing costs, rising grocery prices, and internal pressure within his party.

Justin Trudeau Resigns

With Justin Trudeau’s exit, attention has shifted to the upcoming federal election, likely to take place in late 2025. Current betting odds heavily favor Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, to become the country’s next Prime Minister. Some assign Poilievre a 92% likelihood of winning, while others give the Conservatives -4000 odds, implying a 97.56% probability. With more similarly favors the Conservatives, pricing them at -900. There are tons of ways to play, check out the best guide to new online casinos for more info.

Justin Trudeau Resigns

Pierre Poilievre

Poilievre, who has led the Conservative Party and served as the Official Opposition leader since 2022, has capitalized on a wave of populist sentiment, emphasizing issues such as Canada’s cost-of-living crisis. Known for his low-tax agenda and calls for government accountability, Poilievre has positioned himself as a champion for working-class Canadians frustrated with the Liberal government’s policies. Recent opinion polls and betting platforms strongly reflect the Conservative Party’s lead heading into the next election.

Canada’s Next Prime Minister

Meanwhile, Chrystia Freeland, who recently resigned as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, is viewed as the most likely contender for the Liberal Party leadership. Despite her significant contributions to the Trudeau government, including overseeing Canada’s pandemic recovery and introducing a national affordable childcare system, odds only assigns Freeland a 5% chance of becoming the next Prime Minister.

New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh, who has led his party since 2017, is also in the running, though his chances remain slim. Betting odds give Singh just a 2% likelihood of winning, while others list the NDP with +6000 odds, suggesting a probability of only 1.64%. Singh’s leadership has focused on issues like social justice, climate change, and income inequality, but his party’s influence may remain limited to shaping a minority government if no party wins a majority.

Justin Trudeau’s resignation and the Liberal Party’s upcoming leadership contest are expected to influence the political landscape in the months ahead. Key factors driving the odds include the Justin Trudeau government’s declining popularity, recent Liberal resignations, and global political trends favoring populist movements. While Poilievre and the Conservatives are currently the clear favorites, Canadian politics remains unpredictable, and the next federal election could hold surprises.

Blobtang vs. CEO: Muay Thai Monster Crushes Fight Circus Boss in Wild Showdown

The heavyweight Muay Thai striker Blobtang took on the Fight Circus CEO Jon Nutt in quite an epic showdown. The Muay Thai fight, though, was interrupted by a masked assailant and then Blobtang had to fight two men.

Blobtang vs. Fight Circus CEO

Blobtang has built a reputation as one of the most interesting figures in combat sports. Weighing in at an estimated 170 kg (375 lbs), Blobtang defies expectations with surprising agility and stamina for his size. His thunderous kicks, often described as powerful enough to “bring down banana trees,” and his skillful use of knees in the clinch, have earned him both admiration and viral fame.

From blindfolded Muay Thai bouts to multi-fighter challenges, Blobtang, or Blobzilla, has embraced the unpredictable nature of the promotion, garnering a significant following on social media.

Blobtang

Jon Nutt, the mastermind behind Fight Circus, is no stranger to stepping into the ring himself. Known for participating in quirky bouts like 2-vs-1 matches, Nutt’s willingness to engage in the chaos of his own creation has been a hallmark of the promotion. However, facing Blobtang presented an entirely new level of challenge.

Andrew Whitelaw, the announcer, and the stadium audience were stunned to see Jon Nutt take on Blobtang. Watch the entire fight below:

Watch: Thai One-Punch Man Knocks Out Five Men Before Being Thwarted by Plastic Chair

A Thai-born One-Punch Man has emerged as a new legend captured on a viral clip. The Thailand One-Punch Man uses his fists before talking and takes out an entire group before being thwarted by a pesky lawn chair.

Thailand’s One-Punch Man

In what looks to be a drunken brawl outside of a sports venue in Thailand, a tan-hat man in a light sweater and sweatpants certainly won the argument. He threw two body kicks at two men with no success. Blue Shirt Man approached with a kick of his own but was pushed back due to inferior footwork. One punch lands and the first man has fallen.

Next, a man next to the truck eats a single punch and is laid out flat. Orange Shirt Man then gets a punch and goes down. Black Shirt Man throws a lead hook but misses before two punches send him to the ground. Four men fall to the power-fisted man.

Safety-Vest Man then steps in and parries the attempted strike and tries to de-escalate the situation. The two continue the war of words and try to escort tan hat man away, but his patience wares thin and he’s had enough. With a lead hook, he ends the night for Safety-Vest Man who goes down. The fifth knockout of the evening.

Finally, an entire group, upwards of nine individuals begins to slow down One-Punch Man but it is the blue plastic chair that truly scares him off. With one blow from the plastic chair and tan hat man is hatless and sprints away from the scene.

The main event of GLORY Collision 7 saw Rico Verhoeven look to defend his heavyweight title against the towering Levi Rigters. After five rounds of action, the two heavyweight strikers traded knockdowns. But in the end, Verhoeven remains the ‘King of Kickboxing.’

Rico Verhoeven vs. Levi Rigters Results

Rico Verhoeven and Levi Rigters met in the final match of the heavyweight Grand Prix earlier this year. It was a dominant match for the Dutch-born Verhoeven until Rigters landed a spinning back fist that sent him tumbling. The all-time great Verhoeven quickly recovered and finished the fight a minute later. After a win, Levi Rigters, of The Netherlands, put himself at the top of the division looking to avenge his loss and capture the GLORY heavyweight world title.

‘The King of Kickboxing’ Verhoeven walked out with an army of Roman centurions, holding spears, chanting for their monarch. He then performed his signature sprint to the ring with flames and the audience screaming.

Sharp punching combinations and inside leg kicks landed early for Rico Verhoeven, looking a few steps ahead of his opponent in the first round. The heavyweight champion ate a hard calf kick and returned with a leg kick to the thigh. Verhoeven got knocked down due to a groin kick and the referee began a ten-count, causing confusion in the ring. It was not scored a knockdown after a quick review. Rigters finished the round strong with a right cross.

Verhoeven landed kicks and punches in round two but a stiff lead jab from Rigters seemed to interrupt the tempo of his opponent. The Dutch strikers trade heavy rearhand crosses. The champion threw a series of high kicks then pressured and threw a flurry to the body. The forward pressure from the heavyweight champion was keeping the hefty kicker on the back foot stifling much of his gameplan.

Double and triple jabs, combined into leg kicks, land with authority for the ‘King of Kickboxing’ in round 3, as Rigters seems unable to mount any meaningful offense. A stunning hook from Rigters landed and Verhoeven crashed to the canvas. He is clearly shaken as he rises to his feet. But the round 3 bell sounds and Rigters is unable to capitalise.

The two heavyweights trade punches and kicks in round 4, with both looking for an edge but neither wants to commit due to how high the stakes are. To counter the jab, Verhoeven lands a booming overhand that drops Rigters. Entering the fifth and final round, each man has scored one knockdown.

Levi Rigters opens round 5 throwing heavy overhands looking for a knockout blow but Rico Verhoeven pushes back with jabs to the body and head. Jabs into low kicks score for the reigning champion to control the final round. The towering Rigters attempted a flying knee and scissor kicks to close the round but Rico Verhoeven defended himself flawlessly.

Tarik Khbabez vs. Donegi Abena Results

The Surinamese-Dutch Abena held the division title until Tarik Khbabez, of Morocco, took the throne by close, and contentious, split decision. Next, the division was thrown into a Grand Prix in which Abena avenged this loss via TKO and took the entire tournament crown. But, Khbabez remained the champion as the division title was not on the line. Tarik Khbabez vs. Donegi Abena 3 was a grudge match for the light heavyweight division crown at GLORY Collision 7.

Both men clearly had a game plan utilizing calf kicks as both were throwing them furiously and continuously throughout round 1. It was a spirited opening round as neither man backed down.

‘The Tank’ Tarik Khbabez was throwing bombs in round 2 but left himself open to a hard counter from Abena, and the two then traded flurries in the pocket. An inside leg kick turned Khbabez all the way around and Abena was unable to press his advantage as the Moroccan was continuously pressuring. While Abena was landing more strikes, Khbabez was landing bombs which were clearly having an impact. The scores were even at this point of the fight.

Khbabez attacked inside flurries to open round 3 and Abena was unable to get his opponent off of him as ‘The Tank’ was attacking with flurries. Abena switched his game and attacked with inside leg kicks and knees to slow his opponent down. Khbabez was slowing down towards the end of the round and Abena was kicking his opponent’s leg heavily, even scoring trips but ‘The Tank’ was still throwing back punches with authority.

Opening round 4, Donegi Abena was landing solid body punches and calf kicks which were sending his opponent stumbling, but ‘The Tank’ was still throwing back in combination. The Surinamese-Dutch lays on a Muay Thai clinch and lands knees in combination and later adds a mean left hook. Khbabez did not let up, he continued to march forward throwing kicks and punches in combination. The punches begin to add up scoring for the Moroccan in the final minute of the round.

In the fifth and final round, both men continue the relentless pace, trading kicks and flurries to the head. Both men land heavy punches, Abena lands knees while Khbabez lands kicks. The Surinamese-Dutch striker is working the body while ‘The Tank’ is attacking in combination. Both men slug it out in the last ten seconds.

After the fight, Donegi Abena left his gloves in the ring as he announced the end of his kickboxing career.
