“I could potentially be the Joe Rogan of Power Slap.”

Conor McGregor breaks down Dana White’s Power Slap League

While Dana White‘s Power Slap League has received a lukewarm welcome from fans and media, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor has been loving it. On Twitter, he gave some analysis breaking down the matches. He said:

“If anything, power slap is showing the importance of turning back your shoulder and torquing your torso into the shot. “Turning of the hip” potentially the wrong terminology being used. Hips less important? Possible also. Turn your shoulder back and torque fully into strike! K.O.”

‘The Notorious’ added:

“Stabilize the hips. Turn the shoulder. Torque the torso. KO! Where’s my belts and my cash. Yup the Keano fella hahahaja! Classic.”

Conor McGregor also discussed how best to absorb a slap. He explained:

“Interesting question. It would have to be better to take it relaxed. However, with eyes fully on the slap at all time. 100%! Full awareness with a relaxed brace I would say is best. Then all you can do is pray the opponents sum of force x velocity is less than needed.”

Conor McGregor is an MMA superstar who once held the featherweight and lightweight titles in the UFC. Famed for his punching power, he had a blockbuster boxing match against all-time great Floyd Mayweather Jr. McGregor did not compete in 2022 due to a leg injury sustained in a Dustin Poirier fight in 2021 but is likely to return to the octagon in 2023.

The controversial Dana White’s Power Slap League premiered on January 18 on TBS and the ratings have just been made public.

According to Nielsen Ratings System, Dana White’s Power Slap League held an average viewership for the hour broadcast of 295,000. This is a 0.10 rating for its target demographic. For the evening overall, it was the 45th most popular show on television.

Power Slap also had a significant lead-in. AEW was right before Power Slap and held an average of 969,000 for the two-hour broadcast, resulting in a 0.31 rating.

For January 18, in the 10:00 time slot, Dana White’s Power Slap League was beat by 1000-LB Best Friends on TLC, The Ingram Angle on Fox, and First Take on ESPN.

Dana White’s Power Slap League

Dana White and the UFC have been pushing Power Slap League on reluctant fans. The sport has been met with a lukewarm welcome. It’s premiere was pushed back one week on TBS from the original day of January 11. Potentially due to the fallout of Dana White being caught on camera slapping his wife on New Years Eve.

It is not just been fans and media who have been cool to Power Slap, experts also do not like it due to how much damage it can cause. Chris Nowinski, Ph.D, a neuroscientist and expert on concussions and CET, shared on Twitter:

“This is so sad. Note the fencing posture with the first brain injury. He may never be the same. [Dana White] & [TBS Network] should be ashamed. Pure exploitation. What’s next, “Who can survive a stabbing”?”

Dana White’s Power Slap League has been withdrawn from TBS schedule in wake of slapping wife: “The death of the deal, I’m told, is basically just paperwork at this point.”

Dana White’s Power Slap League appears to be dead in the water before it could even premier. Reportedly, Power Slap League has been removed from TBS’s scheduled programming and official website.

The news comes shortly after a video was made public of UFC president Dana White slapping his wife, Anne, on New Year’s Eve.

Power Slap League was set to premiere on January 11. An image on Twitter is floating around showing the expected schedule for TBS’s upcoming planned programming:

Conflicting reports on canceling Dana White’s Power Slap League

On Twitter, journalists are struggling to put together what is happening behind the scenes at TBS. No official word from Dana White or Warner Media has been released. The story began with a report from MMA journalist Damon Martin who shared:

“Dana White’s Power Slap League has been removed from the TBS programming schedule ahead of its expected launch on Jan. 11. The Power Slap page was also removed from the TBS website Warner Media has not responded to multiple messages asking for comment.”

A few hours later, Martin updated the story to say that the promotional premiere has simply been pushed back. He posted:

“UFC now saying Power Slap League will still air on TBS — the debut is being pushed to Jan. 18. Warner Media still silent on the whole situation. No comment from them and Power Slap hasn’t appeared on the programming schedule just yet.”

Journalist Jeremy Botter came out with an opposing view rumored to have come from a TBS insider. He shared:

“A Warner Media source tells me Dana White’s Power Slap series is no longer listed on any internal programming schedules and all ad spots have been dropped. The death of the deal, I’m told, is basically just paperwork at this point.”

Dana White’s Power Slap League received a poor reception from the media and fans when it was announced. Since then, fans have not warmed to the promotion. With controversial news of Dana Slapping his spouse, it would make sense that TBS was looking to distance itself from such dissension.

Jordan Burroughs talks wrestling against Ben Askren

All-time freestyle wrestling great Jordan Burroughs wrestled against MMA fighter Ben Askren in 2019. Both Burroughs and Askren are accomplished wrestlers who have represented the United States in the Olympics.

Before he was a world champion in Bellator and ONE Championship, Askren was a highly touted folkstyle collegiate wrestler. In 2008, he wrestled on the US Olympic team as a freestyle wrestler. The 2008 team also included names that MMA fans would easily recognize such as Henry Cejudo and Daniel Cormier.

Jordan Burroughs is considered one of the all-time great wrestlers in freestyle history. Representing the USA he has earned six gold medals in Wrestling World Championships, first place in NCAA Division I wrestling in three competitions, plus an Olympics gold medal in 2012.

In 2019, Askren and Burroughs met on the mat in an official wrestling match for charity.

New Jersey born wrestler Jordan Burroughs recently sat down with Joe Rogan for an interview on his career. During their discussion, the topic of UFC fighter Ben Askren came up. Jordan Burroughs said Askren was a wrestler that he always had looked up to. Burroughs explained:

“I respect Ben [Askren] a ton. Wrestling Askren. I was in college in 2008 when he was on the Olympic team going to Beijing. I was on the junior world team. I was 20 years old at the time. He was the Olympian so I was like ‘Damn, that’s Ben Askren, like yo look who it is!’ Super cool for me to have that experience.”

Burroughs fondly recalls:

“I remember he took me for a ride to Wal-Mart in his Prius and he let me sit shotgun. From that day on I idolized him. You get to the point where idols become rivals. This guy is doing extremely well in the MMA world. He is a former wrestler but he still has his hand in wrestling.”

On the charity showdown in 2019, Burroughs is proud of how great of a turnout it created, he continued:

“It was a lot of fun. We drew a ton of fans. We sold out the Hulu theatre in Time Square.”

On his dream wrestling matchups, Burroughs listed:

“I want to roll with Conor [McGregor]. It’s probably my dream guy that just like get my hands on and feel a little bit. I think it would be fun. GSP.”

Undefeated mixed martial arts prospect Tanner Marlow was murdered on Christmas Eve.

The incident began when a man, identified by police as Jacob Malena, attempted to force his way into his ex girlfriends home, a residence Marlow was at himself.

Malena was armed, as was Marlow, who went to confront the ex boyfriend.

The confrontation resulted in both men being shot and killed, as the situation quickly turned into a double homicide.

Luckily for the woman however, she was uninjured following the gunfight.

Iridium Sports Agency recently released the following statement on the matter:

“We’re heartbroken over the tragic passing of our Team Iridium brother Tanner Marlow. Tanner is remembered fondly as one of the most promising unbeaten prospects in the sport of MMA, and a very proud family man. Tanner is missed greatly, and we extend our sincerest condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and team at this difficult time.”

Tanner Marlow began his MMA career in 2010, where he debuted as an amateur, going 3-1 prior to turning professional in 2012.

Following a win in his professional debut, Marlow would take an extended hiatus before returning nearly five years later in 2017. He’d most recently competed under the LFA banner back in June of 2022, where he improved his professional record to 4-0, all four victories coming via knockout.

A GoFundMe account has been launched in support of this tragic matter.

Tanner Marlow was just 30 years old at the time of his passing.

Joe Rogan has reacted to the recent news that The Liver King had lied about his use of steroids in order to improve his physique.

Speaking on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC commentator brought along Derek from More Plates More Dates (MPMD) who is an expert in understanding the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

At 45 years old The Liver King had a physique that only very few determined individuals could achieve. From the moment he burst through on the internet scene speculation surrounded just how legitimate and natural his body was.

Despite his original claims of being an authentic athlete, his false claims came to light when an email transcript was linked showing him openly admitting to the use of steroids.

Since this had become unveiled, The Liver King took to his social media to apologise to his following for hiding the truth.

From his initial outburst, Joe Rogan had always believed that Liver King was lying about his physique being achieved naturally given his age and how difficult it would be to reach where he was.

Now that the truth has come out, Joe Rogan sat down with Derek from MPMD to share his thoughts on The Liver King saga.

Joe Rogan Unsurprised By Liver King Steroid Usage

“I wasn’t surprised at all. It completely makes sense but that’s exactly what I expected. There’s no way you can look like that, in your 40s, that jacked, I mean he’s preposterously jacked.” Rogan said.

“Most people could see through it but at the same time, a lot of big names reached out to me when the video came out and they were like, ‘I didn’t think he was natural but this guy literally right to my face would say blatantly I am natural.’ He was lying through his teeth seemingly.”

“The problem with this too is that a lot of people will extrapolate this out and then think everyone with a jacked physique must be doing something, which is problematic… I do believe that physique, maybe not that physique but within striking distance of that in 0.00001% of individuals. You could get there naturally.” Derek responded. (Transcribed by FitnessVolt)

One man who likes to joke about his own type of enhancement is Paulo Costa. Proud owner of the ‘secret juice’, the Brazilian and The Liver King had an exchange prior to the announcement declaring a competition against each other for who has the better physique. Whilst we know Costa’s juice is a gimmick with which he plays along with, it seems that for The Liver King, we cannot say the same.

Did you ever believe that The Liver King has achieved his physique naturally?
