Paddy Pimblett is not exactly in fighting shape right now.

The rise of Paddy Pimblett might just be beginning in the UFC, but the fans are very interested in him. Since his debut in the organization last year, Pimblett’s stock has risen with him now having two wins and a great personality. It seems that people are interested in Pimblett’s every move, and he has begun to capitalize on that with a personal video series on YouTube.

In the most recent episode of this series, Pimblett was in attendance at the Cage Warrior event where he ran into Georges St-Pierre. During their interaction, the topic of Pimblett’s weight came up. St-Pierre asked Pimblett when his next fight would be, to which he answered as follows.

“I don’t know as you can see, I’m fat now. It’ll come back off, it’ll come back off,” Pimbeltt explained of his weight gain. (h/t Lowkickmma.com.)

Pimbeltt has had a reputation for gaining a large amount of weight between fights. Despite his fluctuation, he has not had a hard time making weight when the time comes. St-Pierre didn’t seem to think it was an issue either. St-Pierre said he was young and would not have an issue sending the pounds.

“Well, at the minute I’m fat,” he explained. “At the minute I’m like 200lbs. Well, I’m starting to get it back down. An excess of eating (is what caused it), I was eating like 10,000 calories in a day. Lots of pancakes with syrup and Nutella.”

Pimblett fights in the lightweight division at 155 pounds. His last fight was on March 19, just one month before this video was shot. Although Pimblett’s next date for a UFC return is not set, he mentioned in the video he is eyeing June or July.

Paddy Pimblett GSP weight gain

Rising UFC phenom Paddy Pimblett’s VLOG series has been an excellent way of keeping up with the rising star outside of fight camps, and his latest episode featured an extremely interesting interaction with the legendary Georges St. Pierre.

Running into the Canadian icon backstage at a Cage Warriors event, the two got to chatting about things, and one of the first questions GSP had was, “When is your next one (next fight)?”

“I don’t know,” Paddy Pimblett would respond. “As you can see, I’m fat now.”

The two would chuckle, and Pimblett would declare: “It’ll come back off, it’ll come back off,” talking about the weight.

“You’re young, you’ll get it back fast,” GSP told him. “In a couple of months probably,” Pimblett continued, talking about his next fight. “In and around July.”

St. Pierre would then ask what the ‘walking around weight’ of ‘The Baddy’ was, to which Pimblett would respond: “Well, at the minute I’m fat.” He’d go on to continue, almost sighing. “At the minute I’m like 200lbs.”

UFC Legend GSP Warns Paddy Pimblett About Weight Gain and ‘The Baddy’ Opens Up About It

The legend would warn Pimblett not to let his weight get too out of control, and Paddy Pimblett would open up about the problem.

“Well, I’m starting to get it back down,” he said, “An excess of eating (is what caused it), I was eating like 10,000 calories in a day. Lots of pancakes with syrup and Nutella.”

The two would eventually say their goodbyes and the young Liverpool fighter would later be a bit giddy about meeting the legend, and maybe a little relieved GSP didn’t give him more of a hard time about his weight gain.

“GSP says I’m not that fat. So if GSP says I’m not that fat, one of the GOATS, it’s alright. I’m not that fat!”

Here is the full Paddy Pimblett VLOG, with that interaction with GSP occurring around the six-minute and 20-second mark:

Johnson Discusses The Difference Between His And Pimblett’s Mindset

UFC legend and ONE Championship flyweight Demetrious Johnson has described the difference between his fighting mindset and that of rising star Paddy Pimblett. UFC legend and ONE Championship flyweight Demetrious Johnson has described the difference between his fighting mindset and that of rising star Paddy Pimblett.

While Johnson, a former dominant champion on MMA’s biggest stage, has been at the top of the sport for a number of years, Pimblett has only recently broken through onto the mainstream scene. He’s done so via back-to-back finishes in his first two UFC outings, as well as an entertaining and outspoken personality.

After dispatching Luigi Vendramini on debut last September, Pimblett’s sophomore outing came last month in front of a home crowd at UFC London. Given his first-round submission win and the memorable crowd reaction that followed, it’s safe to say the Englishman followed through on his pre-fight claims, both in terms of performance and his UK popularity.

But despite his rapid rise to fame outside the cage, Pimblett is expecting a slow approach to the top, which is to be dictated by his place on the UFC’s pay scale.

Following his debut, “The Baddy” suggested he wouldn’t be agreeing to a meeting in the cage with a top-10 opponent until he moves onto a six-figure UFC deal. During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, “Mighty Mouse” Johnson reacted to that stance.

While he understands Pimblett’s reluctance to face the best while on a $12k/$12k deal with the promotion, Johnson admitted that mindset is a far cry from how he approached his own early days in the UFC.

“Paddy Pimblett, he said, ‘Man, I’m not gonna fight a top 10 or top 15 (opponent).’ I’m like, ‘What?!’ See, my mindset back in the day when I fought, Matt (Hume) says, ‘We just f*ckin’ fight. That’s what we do. Don’t worry about the money, the money’s gonna come. Just keep on fighting, keep on fighting.’

“So when he (Pimblett) said, I think he said he won’t take or top 10 or top 15 ’cause he’s making 12 and 12 (thousand). I understand that. That is, you know, for how much he’s bringing to the table—contracts, it is what it is. Sh*t, when I first fought, it was three and three.”

Johnson Showed His Willingness To Fight The Best At ONE X

In regards to fighting the best in the sport, Johnson has certainly put his money where his mouth is, not only across the past decade but also in his most recent outing.

At ONE X, ONE Championship’s 10-year anniversary spectacle, “Mighty Mouse” took on a unique challenge. He featured in a mixed-rules superfight against the consensus Muay Thai best, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who boasts a mind-boggling 267-42-10 record in the striking discipline at the age of just 24.

Johnson cited his willingness to throw down with the Thai fighter outside of his comfort zone as evidence of how his mindset differs from that of Pimblett’s and other modern up-and-comers in the sport.

“Him (Pimblett) saying he won’t take a top 15, I’m like, when they were like, ‘Wanna fight Rodtang, the best fighter in the world?’ I was like, ‘Sure, let’s do it.’ They were like, ‘You wanna fight in Muay Thai?’ I was like, ‘I don’t even own a Muay Thai belt, but I’ll fight him in Muay Thai…’ We get paid to fight. We don’t get paid to pick and choose what we’re gonna do,” concluded Johnson.

What’s your take on Paddy Pimblett’s unwillingness to face a top-10 opponent on his current UFC contract?

Jorge Masvidal Doesn’t Believe In Paddy Pimblett Hype: “I Don’t See Him Being A World Champion”

Jorge Masvidal recently went on the Impaulsive podcast where he shared his thoughts on Paddy Pimblett.

‘Gamebred’ knows what it’s like to have a prominent rise and respects the star power of Pimblett. However, he doesn’t believe he has the qualities to contend for a world championship at the moment.

Pimblett, a former Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion, is undefeated in his run in the UFC up to this point, although it hasn’t gone as smoothly as some may have foreseen. Early trouble against Luigi Vendramini and Kazula Vargas drew a lot of skepticism from critics, including the former Welterweight title contender Masvidal.

“I think he is entertaining as f***. I think he’s wild. But from the skillset right now I don’t see him being a world champion. But that could change, you know, right. But his skill set right now, I don’t think it’s at the top, where it should be, you know.” (via Sportskeeda).

Jorge Masvidal Weighs In On Paddy Pimblett vs. Logan Paul

Masvidal also spoke with Impaulsive host, Logan Paul, about a possible matchup against Paddy Pimblett in the UFC. The Youtuber has been vocal about wanting a fight inside of the octagon against ‘The Baddy’ and when asked, ‘Gamebred’ said he likes his chances.

“Yeah, F*** yeah. He’s got the wrestling bro. English People can’t wrestle bro. It would have to be up a weight class…[Pimblett] probably walks around 170, 175.”

Pimblett may not be qualified at the moment but he has plenty of room for growth at just 27 years old. With the UFC set to return to the UK later this year, there is hope we will get to see ‘The Baddy’ in his third UFC fight before the year’s end.

Do you agree with Jorge Masvidal’s comments on Paddy Pimblett?

Jorge Masvidal believes rising lightweight Paddy Pimblett needs to develop his skillset if he’s to stand a chance at holding gold in the UFC.

Pimblett, a former featherweight champion in the Cage Warriors promotion, has quickly risen as an up-and-coming star in MMA’s premier promotion. After his much-discussed signing in 2021, “The Baddy” made good on his debut promise by knocking out Luigi Vendramini in one round at UFC Vegas 36.

In the months that followed, Pimblett boasted of blossoming stardom and an inevitable rise up the lightweight ladder. The Liverpool native went some ways to proving both at UFC London last month.

In front of a home UK crowd, the fanfare around Pimblett was clear, from his walkout to the post-fight celebrations. While he had to overcome some adversity early on, the 27-year-old recorded a second consecutive first-round victory, this time via submission against Kazula Vargas.

But while Pimblett has certainly captured the attention and eyes of fans, pundits, and fighters alike, not everyone is all-in on his future championship credentials, including one former two-time title challenger.

During a recent appearance on the Impaulsive podcast, Masvidal, one of the UFC’s most well-known stars, gave his take on Pimblett. While he didn’t write off the Liverpudlian’s chances completely, “Gamebred” said that he can’t see Pimblett reaching the top with his current skillset.

“I think he’s entertaining as fuck. I think he’s wild. But from the skillset, right now, I don’t see him being a world champ,” said Masvidal. “But that could change, right, but his skillset right now, I don’t think it’s at the top, where it should be right now.”

Masvidal Backs Paul In Hypothetical Pimblett Fight

Perhaps giving credence to Pimblett’s claims of stardom, YouTube sensation Logan Paul recently had the lightweight’s name in his mouth.

“The Maverick” has long discussed a potential appearance inside the Octagon, largely owing to his wrestling credentials. During his own appearance on Paul’s podcast, UFC President Dana White even appeared to leave the door open to the idea.

Later discussing the potential move during an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Paul revealed that Pimblett would be his desired opponent for a foray into MMA.

When asked if he thought Paul has what it takes to defeat the significantly lighter Pimblett, Masvidal gave a pretty emphatic answer.

“Yeah (Logan Paul would take him), fuck yeah. He’s got the wrestling, bro. English people can’t wrestle, bro,” said Masvidal. “It would have to be up a weight class… (Pimblett) probably walks around 170, 175.”

While Paul wouldn’t adhere to the “three to four” more unranked UFC lightweights Pimblett is expecting to face in the coming months, a fight against the online celebrity would certainly help increase his star power.

And judging by his post-UFC London food tour, “The Baddy” certainly wouldn’t struggle to make a higher weight…

How do you think an MMA fight between Paddy Pimblett and Logan Paul would play out?

Ilia Topuria doesn’t expect tensions to have eased if he collides with lightweight prospect Paddy Pimblett again in London this week.

While they both have opponents of their own to focus on for this weekend, Kazula Vargas for the Englishman and Jai Herbert for the Georgian, Pimblett and Topuria have formed a more intense feud between themselves.

They’d previously clashed online following distasteful tweets “The Baddy” posted about the Russo-Georgian War. But the animosity between the pair reached a boiling point at the fighter hotel on Tuesday.

After Topuria approached Pimbett, objects and insults were exchanged, with the ranked UFC featherweight seemingly landing a punch to the Liverpudlian’s arm.

At media day, Pimblett gave his side of the story, accusing “El Matador,” who he branded “hand sanitizer boy,” of trying to “act hard” and doing “nothing” despite a clear number advantage.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Topuria responded. He claimed Pimblett initially tried to act friendly. According to the Georgian, while he tries to be a “gangster” online, the Englishman was “quiet like a bitch” in person.

“He saw me and he was like, smiling at me, and he wanted me to shake his hand. I don’t know what he wanted for my part,” recalled Topuria. “And (when) I saw him, I threw a bottle to his face and then everything started. But he was quiet like a bitch. He didn’t say anything. Fuck him. He’s just a man on Twitter. This is not Twitter. This is real life. If you wanna play a gangster, be a gangster by the end. If not, just stay quiet, kid.”

When asked what would happen if he comes across Pimblett again prior to Saturday’s fight night, Topuria revealed he’s expecting a similar situation. However, if he were to find himself alone with “The Baddy,” he expects things to end very differently for the Brit.

“The same thing you saw in the video (will happen if I see him again). If I have the chance, I don’t know, if they give me the chance to be with him alone in a room, I’m gonna kill this motherfucker,” asserted Topuria.

Topuria: Pimblett Should Be Thankful After Hotel Clash

Ultimately, while footage of the incident has gone viral, the pair avoided a full-blown brawl, with members of Topuria’s entourage quickly separating their man from his fellow main-card competitor.

When recalling the incident, Pimblett suggested he escaped a six-on-one clash unscathed. But further into his conversation with Helwani, Topuria noted that the members of his team mostly played peacekeeping roles.

He believes Pimblett should be thankful for that, because if they didn’t, he would’ve ended up in hospital.

“He saw me and he shit on his pants… I was trying to take his head off. He (posted) something like, ‘It was six versus me.’ You can see in the video, my coach was on his back making a coffee,” said Topuria. “(He was) calm. He didn’t even move.

“No one touched him. My brother was separating me. Can you imagine if everyone go against him? He was alone. We will kill him,” added Topuria. “He should be thankful (to) all my teammates because they separated me. If not, he will be, I don’t know, in the hospital right now.”
