Chimaev, the 11th ranked Welterweight has been making appearances at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, a gym that has housed former and current world champions such as Israel Adesanya, Valentina Shevchenko and Alexander Volkanovski.
According to Sayat Abdrakhmanov, the gym is currently hosting a lethal group of fighters including Petr Yan, Rafel Fiziev, Marlon Moraes, Yaroslav Amosov and many others.
On his YouTube channel Chimaev elaborated on his thoughts about Burns,“I like this guy, actually. He’s a funny, nice guy. I want to fight with him. But in war, brother, I can’t be nice with somebody. I want to eat everybody. Take my money. Take my belt. I’m so hungry. When I talk about fighters, I’m hungry. I hope I will fight in Brazil, as well. Nice country. Nice people.” (h/t MiddleEasy)
The prospect of Chimaev getting better and improving at Tiger Muay Thai should be a scary one and something that puts the welterweight division on high alert. This star is coming and he is rising very quickly.

UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley doesn’t believe champion Aljamain Sterling and interim titleholder Petr Yan are “big enough” to headline a pay-per-view.
The much-anticipated rematch between Sterling and Yan, originally scheduled for UFC 267 last October, was set to go down at UFC 272 in March. After they were to unify the bantamweight title in the co-main, Alexander Volkanovski was targeted to defend his featherweight belt against Max Holloway in the main event.
During a recent episode of his YouTube podcast, #12-ranked bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley commented on the adjusted schedule. His takeaway from the decision to move Sterling and Yan’s rematch to UFC 273 was that the pair simply aren’t big enough to headline a pay-per-view.
O’Malley’s solution to the bantamweight division not boasting PPV-headline names? “Big daddy.”
“You know what’s crazy to me? Well, I don’t know if it’s crazy or not. Petr and Aljo can’t main event their own pay-per-view. So their main event [Volkanovski vs. Holloway 3] pulled out. They couldn’t just, ‘Ah, we’ll be main event.’ They’re not big enough. It’s weird. The best division in the UFC, maybe, and they can’t even headline their own pay-per-view. They need big daddy.”
Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling’s rematch was originally set to take place at UFC 272 on March 5 before it was announced on Tuesday that the fight has been pushed back. ‘The Funk Master’ took to his YouTube channel to reveal that his next fight will no longer take place at UFC 272. Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling’s rematch was originally set to take place at UFC 272 on March 5 before it was announced on Tuesday that the fight has been pushed back.
“Quick update, I know you guys probably seen some of the news but yes, they are talking about pushing our fight back to April. Not because of me. This is what I was told, that Yan isn’t vaccinated. Yan isn’t vaccinated so he can’t fight in March.”
It was later confirmed that Sterling vs. Yan 2 will now take place at UFC 273 on April 9. The bantamweight title fight will serve as back-up to the main event of the evening between Alexander Volkanovski and ‘The Korean Zombie’.
Petr Yan Wants To Clear Something Up
The interim bantamweight champion recently took to social media to clear something up. Yan claims that he is vaccinated against COVID-19 and says that the reason his fight was moved to a different card is because the UFC didn’t want Sterling to headline a pay-per-view event.
“Pathetic liar desperately trying to look good and control the narrative but it won’t work,” Yan wrote on Twitter. “I’m vaccinated and ready to bash you anywhere even tomorrow. UFC simply doesn’t want fake champion to headline the event.”
It has since been announced that Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal will headline UFC 272. As of right now, it’s unclear who will replace Sterling and Yan in the co-main event.
Do you think Petr Yan is right about this? Did the UFC not want Aljamain Sterling to headline a pay-per-view card?

Petr Yan has his theory on why the UFC opted to move his scheduled rematch with Aljamain Sterling from UFC 272 to the UFC 273 co-main.
Yan lost his bantamweight title to Sterling at UFC 259 after landing an illegal knee to a grounded Sterling late in the fight. Sterling would earn the title via disqualification and the saga began regarding rematch talks.
Sterling and Yan were originally scheduled to square off at UFC 267, but Sterling pulled out due to lingering health issues. Yan would go on to fight and defeat Cory Sandhagen for the interim belt at UFC 267.
After they were originally scheduled once again to battle at UFC 272, the fight has now been pushed back to UFC 273. The two sides have gone at it on social media regarding the reasoning for the delay, with Sterling accusing Yan of being responsible for it.
The two went at it on Twitter regarding the situation, with Yan citing Sterling as the reasoning.
“Pathetic liar desperately trying to look good and control the narrative but it won’t work. I’m vaccinated and ready to bash you anywhere even tomorrow. UFC simply doesn’t want fake champion to headline the event,” Yan tweeted.
The UFC and president Dana White haven’t come out publically and explained the fight getting pushed back. Yan’s attack prompted a brutal response from Sterling.
“Lmao I’m only repeating what I was told from the bosses. Don’t get your potato tits in a twist! I’d happily fuck you up tmw too. That can easily be arranged.”
The bantamweight title picture has been searching for clarity ever since Sterling controversially earned the belt. The UFC’s feelings about the situation can be attributed to Yan being on the pound-for-pound list while the champion Sterling is notably absent.
For now, it appears that the Sterling-Yan rematch is set to happen at UFC 273, and fans will need to keep their fingers crossed regarding any potential shakeups between now and then.

UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling has claimed his long-awaited title unification rematch with interim gold holder, Petr Yan is most likely to now take place in April at UFC 273, despite initial plans to pit the two together a month earlier at UFC 272 on March 5.
Sterling, who clinched the undisputed bantamweight championship back in March courtesy of a fourth round disqualification win over Yan, has been sidelined ever since as he failed to obtain medical clearance to return following invasive neck surgery to address a longstanding issue.
Aljamain Sterling is currently in the midst of a six-fight winning run, including his DQ win over Petr Yan
The Uniondale native was originally expected to co-headline UFC 267 back in October on ‘Fight Island’ in a rematch against Yan, however, his failure to obtain medical clearance resulted in the shelving of the bout, as well as the introduction of an interim title at bantamweight.
Remaining on the Abu Dhabi, UAE card – Dudinka native, Yan managed to scoop the interim crown with unanimous decision win over common-opponent, Cory Sandhagen, who replaced Sterling on short notice.
Last week, reports emerged detailing how the promotion was targeting the title rematch between Sterling and Yan for UFC 272 on March 5. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, however, contracts had yet to be signed for the bout.
Ultimately, a targeted main event between featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, and Max Holloway fell to the wayside as the latter aggravated a prior injury, resulting in the scuppering of that title fight as well.
“Apparently it (the rematch) isn’t until April now (UFC 273),” Aljamain Sterling tweeted. “The potato (Petr Yan) can’t duck me forever!”
An April return for Aljamain Sterling would mark a year of inactivity following his much-debated disqualification win over Yan, with the New York native becoming the first champion in the promotion’s history to win a title via that method. Sterling then accused Yan of withdrawing from their upcoming fight, calling them now level on fight withdrawals between them.
“I guess Cheotr (Petr Yan) and I, are even now in pulling out of fights for serious injuries,” Aljamain Sterling tweeted. “Oh wait… “personal reasons” isn’t an injury (laughing face emoji). I’m coming for your boy! Trust me!

Aljamain Sterling confirmed reports that his rematch with Petr Yan at UFC 272 may get pushed back to April.
Sterling got the belt via disqualification after Yan landed an illegal knee at UFC 259. The UFC has attempted to put the rematch together on multiple occasions, but injuries and other issues have come to the surface.
Sterling and Yan were supposed to fight at UFC 267 before Sterling pulled out due to lingering health issues. Yan would then fight and beat Cory Sandhagen for the interim bantamweight title.
During a recent post on social media, Sterling confirmed rumors that the Yan rematch may be in jeopardy once again.
“Yes, they’re talking about pushing my fight back to April,” Sterling said. “Not because of me. This is what I was told: [Mocking] ‘Yan isn’t vaccinated so he can’t fight in March’.
“I actually respect his gangster. If this is the real reason, I actually respect his stance. I respect it, but it doesn’t make any sense. And I’m making fun of it because it’s like, is he going to be vaccinated in April? I don’t think so. So what are we doing?
“I just want to know when we’re fighting. It’s about time we get to punch each other in the face. So, hopefully, we can figure this out sooner rather than later, unify these belts and figure out who is really the guy.”
The tension between Sterling and Yan has skyrocketed in recent months. Sterling has accused Yan of using performance-enhancing drugs, which Yan has vehemently denied.
Since the time of their first matchup, the UFC’s bantamweight division has grown into arguably the most stacked division in the sport. The title picture is in desperate need of clarity, beginning with the second chapter of Sterling vs. Yan.
As of now, it appears that the fight could likely get pushed back to UFC 273 in April, which is slated to be the promotion’s pay-per-view in Brooklyn, NY. Therefore, fans may have to wait a little longer to see these two rivals go to battle once again.
