I’m not sure where this falls as part of ones training for a UFC title championship bout, but former PRIDE and Strikeforce champ Dan Henderson (29-8) seems to be ready as the fighter is seen here having captured a rattlesnake with nothing but a rake and his bare hands.

Henderson is scheduled to face UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones on September 1, 2012 in the main event of UFC 151.

I don’t know about you, but I doubt Jones would go out and handle a venomous snake period. Henderson handled this snake “like a boss.”

Renato 'Babalu' Sobral (L) & Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney (R)

Former UFC and Strikeforce veteran Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral (37-9) has signed with Bellator Fighting Championships and is set to join the promotions season eight light heavyweight tournament this January. This marks the Brazilians first major signing with a North American promotion since his last fight with Strikeforce in December 2010.

In a release from the promotion both Sobral and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney commented on the Brazilians signing.

“Babalu is an awesome addition to the Bellator family,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “He’s beaten some of the greatest fighters in the sport, and poses a tremendous threat to every fighter in our Light Heavyweight Division. From a fans perspective, he’s incredibly exciting to watch, and I’m expecting big things from Babalu in January on Spike.”

As the proud owner of an impressive 37-9 record, including submission victories over Chael Sonnen, Mauricio Rua and Travis Wiuff, “Babalu” has big things in mind when he steps inside the Bellator cage.

“I’m really happy to be a part of the Bellator family,” Sobral said. “This is my new home, and I can’t wait to get into the tournament. My only wish was that it could all be in one night, but I don’t think we can do that, so I’ll just put one more tournament under my belt, and I’m going to take this opportunity and get my shot at the Bellator World Title.”

Sobral last saw action this past June when he debuted with the Asian based ONE Fighting Championships promotion, submitting Tatsuya Mizuno in 31-seconds during the main event of the ‘Destiny of Warriors’ show. Previous to that bout, ‘Babalu’ lost the Strikeforce light heavyweight title to Dan Henderson in December 2010. Sobral won that title in November 2008 when he beat Bobby Southworth by first round TKO.

Rory MacDonald shows off a deep cut that took 38 stitches to sew up three layers

UFC welterweight Rory ‘The Waterboy’ MacDonald (13-1) has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight with BJ Penn (16-8-2) due to a nasty cut over his eye.

The two were scheduled to fight on September 22, 2012 in Toronto, Ontario as part of the main card for UFC 152.

The announcement was initially made by UFC president Dana White to the gathered media following the UFC on FOX 4 post fight press conference.

MacDonald took to Twitter (@rory_macdonald) to explain to fans exactly what happened.

2day i was cut at sparring i needed 3 layers of stitching In total i needed 38 stitches Im very sad right now that i willl not be healed in time to fight sept 22 i am hoping that @bjpenndotcom will agree to have the fight on a (http://instagr.am/p/N7xPkCw0vQ/) later date in november

Penn responded on Twitter (@bjpenndotcom) agreeing to postpone the fight for “the Rio Card” which takes place in October at UFC 153, and not November, which would take place in Montreal at UFC 154.

I am sorry to hear about the injury to @rory_MacDonald, this is a fight that got me out of retirement and one that I was looking forward to. I would like to wish Rory a speedy and healthy recovery and request a postponement of our fight to the Rio card. To Rory, let’s stay with VADA and continue through with the program from now until we fight!
