Metamoris II Gracie vs AokiPress Release – Los Angeles, Calif. (April 16th, 2013) – Metamoris founder Ralek Gracie announces the Metamoris Pro Jiu Jitsu Invitational II, staged live in Los Angeles at the historic Pauley Pavilion and broadcast online via stunning HD live stream.

The second event in the promotion’s history returns with another blockbuster card featuring six matches contested by world-class practitioners of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The unique format combining 20-minute single-round matches with no points encourages fighters to actively seek submissions.

“Jiu Jitsu tournaments have devolved, especially at the elite level, to a game based on who can score points with a sweep or dominant position in the last few seconds of a match to win,” says Gracie. “I founded Metamoris to create a tournament where submissions are the only goal, not points. With the introduction of judges, we will avoid draws. Someone in a fight is always sharper. And now, the fighter who controls the bout with technique, the fighter who shows more varied and frequent submission acquisition, will get his hand raised.”

Metamoris distills competitive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to its purest form. The Metamoris Pro II Invitational is a proving ground for the best in the world to test their skills, stamina and heart, and deliver the fans an unprecedented viewing experience in the process.

The scheduled fight card is headlined by Kron Gracie, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion coached by his father mixed martial arts pioneer and PRIDE champion Rickson Gracie, as he takes on DREAM lightweight champion, ONE FC lightweight champion, former WAMMA lightweight champion and former Shooto welterweight champion, Shinya Aoki.

The card also includes three-time world champion and 2009 ADCC world champion Braulio Estima taking on five-time World Cup champion Rodolfo Vieria, 2011 ADDCC world champion and 2012 World Cup gold medalist Andre Galvao will face Rafael Lovato Jr., the second American in history to win the Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championship as a black belt.

Metamoris Pro Jiu Jitsu Invitational II will be broadcast live via pay-per-view for $19.95 through metamoris.com. “Our production is second-to-none,” says Gracie, “We employ a multi-camera format to deliver the action at all angles accompanied by an experienced commentary team calling the action.”

Tickets will be available for purchase from April 22 through Ticketmaster.

The second meeting between the 35-year-old Fitch, a member of San Jose, Calif.-based Team AKA, and the 32-year-old Burkman, a winner of four consecutive fights, comes slightly more than seven years after Fitch submitted Burkman with a rear-naked choke in the second round (4:57) of their initial encounter that, coincidentally, also took place at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Burkman is coming off his second consecutive win under the World Series of Fighting banner, a highlight reel, first round (3:04) TKO (knee and punches) of Aaron Simpson in Atlantic City, N.J., on March 23. At the inaugural World Series of Fighting event last Nov. 3, Burkman earned a unanimous decision over Gerald Harris.

Also slated for battle on the four-bout TV card is heavyweight rising star and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rolles Gracie (8-1) of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, who will face off with Dave Huckaba (21-4) of Sacramento, Calif. Cavalcante at the World Series of Fighting event on March 23, will collide with Brian Cobb (20-7) of Bakersfield, Calif., in a lightweight (155 pounds) contest. In his last effort at the first World Series of Fighting event, Cobb took a split decision over Ronys Torres.

All 16 of Lauzon’s professional career victories have come by way of (T)KO or submission. Additional preliminary card bouts will be announced soon. Doors at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will open at 4:30 p.m. PT and the first preliminary card bout will begin at 5 p.m.

TUF 18 bannerPress Release – LAS VEGAS – A new network, new day and time, new coaches and new captivating storylines.

The Ultimate Fighter®, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s® (UFC®) signature reality series, moves to FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports’ newly minted multi-sport national cable channel, when it returns in September. The series, featuring UFC® women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Cat Zingano as coaches, also moves to Wednesday evening at 10:00 PM ET where it anchors FS1′s prime time UFC programming block. FS1 launches Saturday, Aug. 17 and season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter premieres Wednesday, Sept. 4 (10:00 PM ET).

“Bringing The Ultimate Fighter to FOX Sports 1 is like adding a big bat to an exciting young lineup,” said Shanks. “TUF has jump-started the careers of dozens of fighters, many who have gone on to become UFC champions. It’s going to be a welcomed addition to FOX Sports 1, and the perfect anchor for our Wednesday prime time UFC block. We’re absolutely thrilled to have it.”

“Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter just ended and it was the best season we’ve ever done,” said UFC® President Dana White. “Season 18 is going to be historic and groundbreaking with the first-ever women coaches, and men and women training and living together, and we’re excited to be airing it on the best new sports network in the country, FOX Sports 1.”

Earlier this year, UFC announced that Rousey, who defeated challenger Liz Carmouche in the UFC’s first women’s bout during UFC® 157, would serve as the first-ever woman coach on the series alongside the winner of today’s Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano No.1 contender fight.

Moments ago Zingano defeated Miesha Tate by TKO in round three at The Ultimate Fighter Finale event in Las Vegas.

Together Rousey and Zingano will mentor male and female bantamweight (135 lbs) fighters – living and training together – vying for the title of The Ultimate Fighter and a six-figure contract with the UFC.

TUF MOVES TO FOX SPORTS 1

“Having the opportunity to help fighters kick off their careers – especially the women – is an amazing experience,” said Rousey. “I’ve had the chance to be a guest on past episodes, and I felt the passion, determination and commitment these fighters bring to the sport. I can’t wait to start coaching this next history-making season on this exciting new network.”

The Ultimate Fighter, which debuted in 2005, has launched the careers of more than 100 UFC fighters and has produced past champions such as Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, Michael Bisping and Matt Serra. Bantamweights were most recently featured on The Ultimate Fighter 14, when John Dodson emerged as the season’s winner.

At launch, FOX Sports 1 is available in over 90 million homes, making this the biggest sports cable network launch in history, and one of the largest network launches ever. It boasts nearly 5,000 hours of live event, news and original programming annually. In addition to TUF 18, over the course of the year FS1′s Wednesday night UFC programming includes live fight events; UFC TONIGHT, the weekly authority for UFC news and information; and the best library programs.

TUF 17 Finale Post-Show On Fuel TV Quotes Featuring Dominick Cruz & Michael Bisping

UFC on FUEL TVPress Release – LOS ANGELES, CA – The following quotes are from tonight’s UFC POSTFIGHT SHOW ON FUEL TV for THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 17 FINALE: FABER VS. JORGENSEN. The show was hosted by Jay Glazer, with UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and middleweight Michael Bisping offering analysis. Heidi Androl conducted fighter interviews on-site.

Quote of the show: Kelvin Gastelum: “I don’t know if it’s sunk in yet. But everything that I’ve been through, this is the best night of my life.”

UFC POSTFIGHT SHOW ON FUEL TV Analyst Dominick Cruz on Urijah Faber vs. Scott Jorgensen: “Faber went out there and did a lot of things right, especially in the first round. He came out and kept Jorgensen on his heels. More than anything I was impressed by the takedowns of Faber on the striking timing. He was able to time Jorgensen’s strikes and get the takedown and also land some big shots until he got the finish.”

Faber on whether he’s ready for a break: “Yeah, I’d like to take a break. Actually coming into the fight, I had a hurt hand from my last fight. It wasn’t anything real serious, so I basically wasn’t able to spar except for one time that whole training camp, but I stayed in great shape. I had my coaches get me prepared in other different ways. We’re so lucky to have a great staff.”

Faber on who wants to fight next: “I’m hoping Dominick can make a little miraculous recovery. You need to dig deep there, Dom. You got to tape it up, get in the cage. I want to get Dominick, Barao, and hopefully get the winner of those guys. I’m ready for whoever.”

Cruz on Kelvin Gastelum being the youngest Ultimate Fighter champion: “Being 21 years old and being the youngest guy to ever win the show, that is one huge thing. But then you’ve got to think that’s playing a part while he’s walking down to the Octagon. He’s thinking ‘I’m the youngest one to do this, I’m 21 years old, I’ve been dreaming of seeing this,’ and all those emotions flooded him, and he still came out and performed.”

UFC POSTFIGHT SHOW ON FUEL TV Analyst Michael Bisping on Cat Zingano’s performance: “This was her first time fighting at such a huge event. At the weigh-in she was shaking. When she walked into the Octagon there were tears in her eyes. She’s a mother and this is a huge thing. She’s undefeated, so that also brings a lot of pressure. The start of the first round she was punching very slowly, but as the fight progressed she got hit a little, she got taken down and finally realized that it’s not going to get any worse than this and that gave her confidence and she came back. She came back amazingly.”

Zingano on winning her UFC debut: “It was amazing. I felt like a got woken up by the second round. I was still kind of just really surprised that I’m here. I was still in a daze then I just thought of my son and I thought of my mom and I thought of everything I’ve done to get here throughout my life and this I exactly where I’m supposed to be and none of it’s in vain and I’m doing what I’m supposed to do with my life right here, right now. It got me started, it got me revved up and I wanted to finish this fight, I wanted to figure it out and I did. I came, I saw and I conquered. I’m happy.”

Ronda Rousey’s thoughts on Tate vs. Zingano: “They both looked great. From the open workouts, I thought that Cat looked a lot better, but Miesha’s the type to perform above herself and she came out swinging. I learned a lot of things about [Cat] as a fighter by watching her live for the first time. I’m ready, man. She’s a tough chick for sure, though.”

Dana White on The Ultimate Fighter Finale: “It was an amazing night. I knew this season of The Ultimate Fighter was special. I took the guys out to dinner at the end of the season and I told the guys that night, everyone of you will come back and fight in the UFC. We’ll give you one more opportunity, because they fought so hard in the season. And they killed it.”

White on Gastelum upsetting Hall: “People on Twitter were calling for a fight with him and Anderson Silva already. And he deserved the hype. The question becomes, can you handle the pressure? And what it looked like to me was, when he came out tonight, he folded under the pressure like he didn’t even want to be in there. He didn’t even wake up until the second round. And we saw hints, little pieces of Uriah Hall tonight, but that’s about it. And Kelvin came out ready to take him out.”

White on Hall being over-hyped: “I don’t think if you watched last season of The Ultimate Fighter you would over-hype Uriah Hall. But, the one thing that you never know, you can have a guy who’s incredibly talented, but what’s going to happen to him when he gets into that pressure cooker? That one moment when it all matters. That’s where the guys who become world champions really shine. Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre and the list goes on and on of guys who really don’t fold under pressure.”

White on The Ultimate Fighter moving to FOX Sports 1: “I’m very excited. I want to thank everybody over at FX for all the support they’ve given us since we’ve come to FOX. For all the hard work everybody’s put in over there to get the UFC and The Ultimate Fighter to where it is today on FX, I really appreciate it. And I’m very excited to be moving to FOX Sports 1. I think the crew that works over there and the plans they have for this network, it’s going to be awesome, and we’re very excited to be part of it.”

NAFC Knockout KingsPress Release – April 11, 2013 (Milwaukee, WI, USA) Few names are as synonymous with professional Kickboxing than Milwaukeean Duke Roufus. As well, even fewer Americans are as well-versed in the Thai art of kickboxing, or Muay Thai, as Duke Roufus.

So it came as no surprise when representatives of international kickboxing promotions powerhouse Glory Sports International contacted Duke in early 2013 looking for his assistance in helping Glory establish itself in the United States.

What was surprising, however, was the fact that one of the cities targeted in Glory’s plans was Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and they wanted Duke to promote their ROAD TO GLORY 8-Man Kickboxing tournament in his hometown.

It was Glory’s understanding that Milwaukee was regarded as a true hotbed for combat sports in the U.S., and Duke Roufus was the main driving force behind that image.

With lifelong international connections bringing the parties together, Duke was humbled at the opportunity to work with such a prestigious organization, and even more humbled at the fact they wanted to bring their exciting brand of stand-up fighting to southeastern Wisconsin.

After months of planning and coordination between Milwaukee-based North American Fighting Championship (NAFC) and Glory executives, Duke Roufus is pleased to announce professional Muay Thai and Kickboxing will return to Milwaukee’s historic Eagles Club Grand Ballroom, 2401 W. Wisconsin Ave., Saturday, May 11, 2013. CONCEDE, Speedy Metals and Roufusport present NAFC “Knockout Kings” ROAD TO GLORY USA. Doors open and the undercard starts at 5:00 pm, while the main card begins at 7:30 pm.

This highly-anticipated show returns Duke to his roots of combat sports, the smash-mouth stand-up game of professional Muay Thai and kickboxing, where the lifelong martial artist is a former 4-Time World Heavyweight Champion.

Showcasing some of the best fighters from across Wisconsin and the Midwest, PLUS top fighters flying in from across North America for the ROAD TO GLORY USA 8-man Lightweight tournament (with a top prize of $20,000.00 going to the winner), makes this one of the most unique ring sports events ever produced in Milwaukee.

ROAD TO GLORY USA is kicking off it’s promotions with six events in America over the first five months of 2013, including the May 11th show in Milwaukee’s Eagles Club.

In addition to top regional talent battling each other in prestige bouts, each ROAD TO GLORY USA event will consist of a one-night, single-elimination, 8-man tournament in one of Glory’s six weight divisions. ROAD TO GLORY Milwaukee will showcase the country’s top Lightweight (-155 lbs) Kickboxers who will be awarded a total purse of $42,000.00.

The Milwaukee ROAD TO GLORY USA tournament champion will advance to the next level of the global tournament and be offered a one-year contract to fight for Glory internationally.

Highlights of ROAD TO GLORY USA, operated by GSI (Glory Sports International), will be distributed to over 90 countries by GSI’s media partner Total Sport Asia (http://www.totalsportsasia.com/
).
