Press ReleaseLAS VEGAS, NEV. (March 27, 2012) – Saturday’s star-studded World Series of Fighting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event peaked with 332,000 live NBC Sports Network viewers, a sharp increase of 46 percent from the promotion’s inaugural event in November that peaked with 228,000 viewers.

World Series of Fighting’s sophomore event, which took place at Revel in Atlantic City, N.J. on Saturday, March 23, averaged 210,000 live viewers, a 6 percent increase from the first event that averaged 198,000 viewers.

The live viewership increase was achieved despite the extraordinary challenge of World Series of Fighting going head-to-head on television with the highly-anticipated NCAA men’s basketball tournament game between No. 1 seed Gonzaga University and No. 9 seed Wichita State University.

Additionally, Sunday’s initial re-broadcast of the latest, five-bout TV card garnered 140,000 viewers, an increase of 75 percent from the first re-broadcast of the promotion’s debut event.

“We are thrilled with the tremendous amount of enthusiasm that fans have shown the World Series of Fighting product and look forward to continuously delivering live events filled with world-class matchups between top superstars of the sport and emerging talent from around the globe,” said World Series of Fighting President and six-time world kickboxing champion and two-time Hall of Famer Ray Sefo.

In Saturday’s heavyweight main event, powerhouse Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (16-3) of Boca Raton, Fla. exchanged bombs with fellow superstar Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovksi (18-10) of Minsk, Belarus for three rounds before Johnson earned a unanimous decision.

In the bantamweight (135 pounds) co-main event, two-time national Muay Thai champion and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt Marlon Moraes (10-4) of Jupiter, Fla. via Nova Friburgo, Brazil earned his second straight victory in the World Series of Fighting cage, scoring an explosive first round (2:55) KO on Tyson Nam (12-5) of Portland, Ore.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt David Branch (12-3) of Brooklyn, N.Y. dominated former PRIDE Fighting Championships superstar and WEC champion Paulo Filho (23-5) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a middleweight (185 pounds) contest for three consecutive rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory.

In welterweight (170 pounds) action, Josh Burkman (25-9) of Salt Lake City, Utah took out Aaron “A Train” Simpson (12-5) of Phoenix, Ariz. in the opening round of their matchup.

Additional re-air dates of Saturday’s event will be announced soon.

Julia Budd Steps In For Veronica Rothenhausler At Invicta FC 5, Faces Mollie Estes On April 5th

Press Release – KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 25, 2013) – Hard-hitting kickboxing stylist Julia “The Jewel” Budd (4-2) of Port Moody, BC Canada will square off with upstart Mollie Estes (1-1) of Kansas City in a featherweight (145 pounds) contest at the highly-anticipated Invicta Fighting Championships women’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world championship doubleheader event […]

Invicta FC 5 posterPress Release – KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 25, 2013) – Hard-hitting kickboxing stylist Julia “The Jewel” Budd (4-2) of Port Moody, BC Canada will square off with upstart Mollie Estes (1-1) of Kansas City in a featherweight (145 pounds) contest at the highly-anticipated Invicta Fighting Championships women’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world championship doubleheader event at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City on Friday, April 5.

Estes’ original opponent, Veronica Rothenhausler of Sacramento, Calif., has withdrawn from the event due to injury.

The 29-year-old Budd, a protégé of former MMA star Lance Gibson known for her phenomenal conditioning, is looking for her third straight victory in the cage after reeling off back-to-back, first-round TKO wins – both by way of punches and elbow strikes -in Invicta FC competition. On July 28, 2012, she stopped Elina Nilsson at Invicta FC 2 and, on Oct. 6, 2012, she finished Danielle West at Invicta FC 3.

Budd’s only two career losses to date came at the hands of champion Ronda Rousey and top-ranked Amanda Nunes. In March 2005, Budd became the first fighter to defeat superstar Gina Carano by way of unanimous decision after they faced off in a Muay Thai rules bout.

The 37-year-old Estes will make her second start in the Invicta FC cage after taking on 2008 Olympic wrestling bronze medalist Randi Miller at the promotion’s inaugural event on April 28, 2011. Expected to be disposed of in the early going of the matchup against the world-class wrestler, Estes held her own and pushed Miller into the third and final scheduled round of the contest before being stopped with a barrage of punches from Miller.

Before turning pro with a three-round unanimous decision victory over Lacie Jackson on Oct. 1, 2011, Estes enjoyed a splendid, two-year stint as an amateur, compiling an overall record of 7-1, with all 7 of her wins coming by way of (T)KO or submission.

Tickets for Invicta FC 5, priced from $25, are on sale online at TicketFly.com.

In the main event of the stacked 13-bout card, reigning Invicta FC Atomweight (105 pounds) Champion Jessica Penne (10-1) of Huntington Beach, Calif. will defend her crown against superstar Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson (10-3) of Albuquerque, N.M. and, in the co-main event and first-ever Invicta FC flyweight (125 pounds) title fight, submission ace Vanessa Porto (15-5) of Sao Paulo, Brazil will square off with red-hot star Barb Honchak (7-2) of Bettendorf, Iowa.

Pound for pound great and devastating KO artist Cris Cyborg (10-1, 1 NC) of Curitiba, Brazil will make her highly-anticipated Invicta FC debut against rising star Fiona Muxlow (6-2) of Townsville, Queensland Australia in a featherweight matchup.

Flyweight superstar Zoila Frausto Gurgel (12-2) of Cincinnati, Ohio will also make her Invicta FC debut in another featured bout against submission expert Jennifer Maia (6-2) of Curitiba, Parana Brazil.

In other action on the eight-bout main card, bantamweight (135 pounds) superstar Sarah Kaufman (15-2) of Victoria, BC Canada will make her long-awaited Invicta FC debut against dangerous striker and Invicta FC 3 and Invicta FC 4 winner Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith (5-2-1) of Pleasant Hill, Calif.

Undefeated KO artist Lauren Taylor (5-0) of Anchorage, Alaska will battle hard-hitting Kaitlin Young (7-7-1) of St. Louis Park, Minn. at bantamweight.

Crowd-pleasing “Rowdy” Bec Hyatt (4-2) of Brisbane, Australia will look to return to the win column against undefeated sensation and Invicta FC newcomer Jasminka Cive (5-0) of Graz, Austria in a strawweight (115 pounds) meeting.

The Invicta FC five-fight preliminary card will be highlighted by a bantamweight tilt between two undefeated prospects in powerhouse Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke (2-0) of Richmond, Ky. and Muay Thai stylist Miriam Nakamoto (1-0) of Dublin, Calif.

Katja Kankaanpaa (7-0-1) of Seinajoki, Finland will square off with fellow undefeated rising star Juliana Carnerio Lima (5-0) of Belo Horizonte, Brazil at strawweight in what will mark both fighters’ Invicta FC debuts.

Alex Chambers (3-1) of St. Ives New South Wales, Australia will meet unbeaten Jodie Esquibel (3-0) of Albuquerque, N.M. at atomweight.

Fresh off of her professional debut victory in the Invicta FC cage, top-flight prospect Rose Namajunas (1-0) of St. Paul, Minn. will face off with fellow undefeated upstart Kathina Catron (2-0) of Tehlequa, Okla. at strawweight.

Cassie Rodish (4-3) of Des Moines, Iowa will face Simona Soukupova (3-2) of London, England in an atomweight contest.

Press Release – Xtreme Fighting Championships next nationally televised event Live on AXStv will be April 19 for XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest and included in the event is a middleweight bout between Dominique Steele and XFC favorite Gerardo Julio Gallegos. Gallegos returns to the XFC cage for the first time in over a year, looking to bring the fans in his home state of Kentucky and those watching on AXStv yet another exciting fight.

Gallegos brings a pro record of (6-3) into the bout, following two consecutive wins. Both of his most recent wins are by way of submission in the first round, giving Gallegos four career first round finishes, and 4 career submission wins.

Fighting out of Lexington, Kentucky, Gallegos has been competing in the XFC since 2009 when he took his second pro fight against Robert Turner. Turner was a strong favorite, with eight pro fights to his name, but that didn’t keep Gallegos from bringing it to Floridian when the two met at XFC 8. Gallegos submitted Turner in the second round via guillotine. That would be the first of three consecutive wins for Gallegos, including another submission win over Hayder Hassan at XFC 9, followed by one of the quickest KO’s in XFC history (:34 seconds) against TUF vet Shane Primm.

Following back-to-back losses from Mike Bernhard and Amaechi Oselukwue at XFC 11 & 16, Gallegos went back to the regional scene to tune his skill set and gain some additional experience. In December, he worked his way back into the win column with a knee-bar submission, and then followed that performance with another submission victory in January. With two consecutive first round wins, XFC President John Prisco saw it was time for Gallegos to return the national spotlight and Julio will get another challenging opponent in his return to AXStv, as he takes on Dominique Steele (7-3).

Julio Gallegos gets the curtain call in his home state of Kentucky, as the XFC returns to the Bluegrass state for the first time since 2008; when the promotion set the state attendance record for MMA events. XFC 23 promises to be another great event with a stacked line up that will also include a main event between Shamar Bailey vs Luis Santos, who hold combined records of over 75+ Pro MMA Fights.

For additional information about XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest and the rest of the night’s bouts, visit www.officialxfc.com. Also, follow the promotion hourly on Facebook and Twitter ‘@OfficialXFC’. Keep up with Julio Gallegos and his GJG Foundation on Twitter ‘@GJGWorldWide’. XFC 23 is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions and ThroatPunch Ind. Press Release – (Tampa, FL) –Xtreme Fighting Championships will return to Tampa Bay on June 14 for XFC 24 at the USF Sundome. The promotion has been touring the United States, outside of Florida since December of 2011, and will return to the city where it all began for an event that is headlined with the first title defense for current Lightweight Champion “Notorious” Nick Newell (9-0) and rising star Scott “Hot Sauce” Holtzman (4-0).

After holding 10 events at the Tampa Bay Times Forum (then the St. Pete Times Forum), the XFC spent 2012 and the beginning of 2013 traveling the southeast and executing events in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Now, with a much larger & more dedicated fan base, the XFC returns to the city where its fans once set state attendance records for MMA; Tampa, Florida.

XFC President John Prisco made the announcement for the date and location after receiving thousands of messages & tweets wondering when the promotion would return to its stomping grounds. “I am excited to be coming back to Tampa. This is where it all began for us,” said Prsico. “We spent some time expanding our fan base and signing talent from across the country, now it’s time for the XFC to deliver another great show in Tampa.”

A full bout line up has not been announced, however the show is expected to feature some of the top fighters under the XFC banner, several top local standouts, a women’s bout, and recent Open Fighter Tryout winner Jeremiah Labiano. Numerous Florida fighters are under contract with the promotion and generally travel out of state to be a part of XFC events, so it is likely that a descent handful will be a part of the first event in their home state in almost 2 years.

MFC 37 Facebook

Press Release – For the first time in organizational history, the Maximum Fighting Championship will bring all the heated action of an event undercard to a live audience around the world via Facebook.

At MFC 37: True Grit, fans will be able to see a five-fight preliminary bout lineup streaming live on the Maximum Fighting Championship’s Facebook page. Simply go to www.facebook.com/MaximumFighting and click ‘LIKE’ to watch the fistic fireworks.

The MFC has set three of the five fights slated for the True Grit undercard which will get under way at 8 p.m. ET/6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT on Friday, May 10 from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

The main card of MFC 37: True Grit, headlined by the showdown for the MFC world heavyweight title between Chris “Beast Boy” Barnett and Smealinho “The Prince” Rama, will be airing live on AXS TV Fights beginning at 10 p.m. ET/8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT (check local listings for channel designation).

Two middleweight fights will spark the undercard action at MFC 37. In what should be a rugged tussle, “The Loudmouth Assassin” Marcus Hicks will put a three-fight winning streak on the line against Jared “The Yeti” McComb. At MFC 36, Hicks notched a second-round submission victory over Paul Grandbois, while McComb will look to get back to winning ways after having his four-fight winning streak stopped at MFC 33.

In the other middleweight matchup, former Knockout of the Night winner Paul “The Punisher” Grandbois, who was the runner-up in voting for the MFC’s Fight of the Year in 2012, will take on hard-throwing striker Allen Hope. Back in April 2011, the two previously clashed with Hope earning the sixth knockout victory of his career in a first-round stoppage.

And as previously announced, the MFC 37: True Grit undercard will feature the much-anticipated “Brother vs. Brother” fight as Mike Treadwell squares off against his younger sibling Thomas Treadwell in a heavyweight clash.

Two more fights will be added shortly to the live Facebook undercard for MFC 37.

Tickets for MFC 37: True Grit are on sale now and available at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling the MFC Ticket Hotline at (780) 504-2024.
