USADA announced on Friday that TUF 3 veteran Ricardo Abreu has received a two-year suspension following a positive out-of-competition test result leading up to a UFC fight.
Abreu tested positive in an out-of-competition test administered to him by USADA on June 3rd and popped hot for 19-norandrosterone (19-NA) and 19-noretiocholanolone – both metabolites of banned anabolic steroids.
Abreu’s suspension is retroactive to the July 1st date, so his suspension will be served by July 1, 2018.

On Sunday, July 3, UFC issued an official statement on their website, UFC.com, regarding Ricardo Abreu being flagged for a potential USADA Anti-Doping violation.

“The UFC organization was notified that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Ricardo Abreu of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”
