“I came to the fight game as bringing movies there, and I thought it was a fantastic response. It was super fun,” Gyllenhaal told MMA Junkie. “I think we all had great respect for the fight game. Same thing with Conor when he came to the movie set. He came in and said, ‘I’m a white belt. I’m here to learn. I don’t know anything about making movies or acting, and I want to learn.’ That type of humility in that space, I tried to bring the same way in the opposite end. I don’t know that much about the fight game. I have great respect for it, and I wanted to learn.”

Jake Gyllenhaal says Conor McGregor went all in on acting which he was impressed with. He also remembers the moment during filming when he realized the Irishman was actually a good actor.

“Mostly I’ve worked with a lot of ex-fighters, but they’ve learned how to be stunt people so in that sense, they know how to fake fight,” Gyllenhaal said. “I think Conor had a learning curve in learning how to fake fight was not [natural]. Also, I worked with Chandler, too, which is kind of interesting. Both of them in the sequences we did — I remembered taking a hit in a movie. You’re not taking it; you’re selling it. Being head-to-head with Conor, the first shot we shot was that head butt, and that was his first time just staring me in the eyes and I was like, ‘Oh s—t.’”

It will be interesting for fans to see the full movie on March 21 and see just how good McGregor is at acting.

Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House remake

Road House, a remake of the 1989 action-thriller starring the late Patrick Swayze, is scheduled for a March 21 release on Amazon Prime Video. However, the film has found itself in a bit of hot water after a lawsuit filed against MGM Studios and its parent company, Amazon Studios, has left the movie’s anticipated streaming debut in jeopardy.

According to a report from Deadline, the copyright for Road House, previously owned by United Artists, is said to have reverted back to the original film’s screenwriter R. Lance Hill in November. The termination clause forced Amazon Studios to complete the project before a Nov. 10 deadline by any means necessary — including the alleged use of artificial intelligence.

“This case arises from Defendants’ blatant copyright infringement due to their willful failure to license the requisite motion picture and ancillary rights to Hill’s Screenplay underlying their derivative 2024 Remake as required by law,” attorney Marc Toberoff wrote in the 19-page complaint.

“Hill is further informed and believes and based thereon alleges that Defendants went so far as to take extreme measures to try to meet this deadline, at considerable additional cost, including by resorting to the use of AI during the 2023 strike of the Screen Actor’s Guild to replicate the voices of the 2024 Remake’s actors for purposes of Automatic Dialogue Replacement, all in knowing violation of the collective bargaining agreements of both SAG and the Director’s Guild of America to which Defendants were signatories.”

The remake, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and UFC megastar Conor McGregor in his feature film debut, has seen its fair share of controversy since going into production last year. Aside from being impacted by the lengthy SAG-AFTRA strike, longtime producer Joel Silver — who worked on the 1989 original — was unceremoniously booted from the production due to creative differences.

That was followed by the controversial decision to forego a theatrical release in favor of straight-to-streaming which led director Doug Liman to boycott the film altogether.

Amazon Studios issued a statement denying the allegations levied by Hill.

“The lawsuit filed by R. Lance Hill regarding ‘Road House’ today is completely without merit and numerous allegations are categorically false,” an Amazon MGM Studios spokesperson said in a statement. “The film does not use any AI in place of actors’ voices. We look forward to defending ourselves against these claims.”

Former duel-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor has claimed he’s likely picked up a few “enemies” along the way in the Hollywood movie industry ahead of next month’s release of the Road House remake, which the Dubliner stars in alongside award-winning actor, Jake Gyllenhall.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the promotion’s banner, has been sidelined from the Octagon since he headlined UFC 264 back in 2021, fracturing his left tibia and fibula in an opening round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in the pair’s trilogy rubber match.

Conor McGregor explains Hollywood fued

And expected to make his return to the Octagon later this year in a grudge fight with former lightweight title chaser, Michael Chandler, veteran striker, McGregor has yet to officially book a date, location, or event to stage his comeback, however

Set to feature alongside the aforenoted, Gyllenhall in the upcoming release of a Road House remake next month – McGregor, who appears to play a lead antagonist by the name of ‘Knox’ – claims he’s made his fair share of “enemies” throughout Hollywood already.

“I had turned down a good few roles in my time on the climb,” Conor McGregor told Total Film recently. “I’ve had directors show up at fight camp, really beautiful directors doing really top-end movies. And over, and over, they’d come to me, and I always turned them down. I’d leave people a little high and dry. I probably have a few enemies out there that I don’t really know of because I had said, ‘I might do it.’”

“I was just in awe of it all, to be honest with you, the whole process,” Conor McGregor said of Road House. “I didn’t know how I was going to take it. I don’t know whether I was going to like it, to be honest. I’m a fighting man – that’s my bread and butter. It’s where I come from – I’m not an actor, but I’m show business. That was my vibe to it. I felt that. I enjoyed every second of it. (H/T MMA Mania)

Star of the original Roadhouse, Marshal Teague, discusses Conbor McGregor’s role in the upcoming remake of the 1989 classic.

The first footage of Conor McGregor’s starring role in the new film was just released in a form of a short trailer in which the Irishman begins a bar brawl before headbutting co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. The film is set to premiere on March 8, then will be available on March 21 via Prime Video.

It will be McGregor’s big screen debut, but by the looks of it the 35-year-old seems perfectly suited this role.

Marshall Teague discusses the ‘Road House’ remake starring Conor McGregor

Talking with TMZ, Teague was asked about the upcoming release and shared his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s performance.

“Jake Gyllenhaal is a fantastic actor and Conor McGregor is an incredible fighter. I mean his acting career I don’t know that much about, but as far as his fighting is concerned, he’s top of the list,” Teague said of the Road House remake.

“I got to tell you I watched it in the fight and the one thing I found humorous was the sound of the hits in the fight you know they’re just, I don’t know, they’re a little off to me. But that’s okay, I think. As far as his ability to play the character as the chief bad guy I think he’ll do fine with that,” Teague continued on Road House. “He’s done it all through his career so I think he has a lead on that.” (H/T TMZ)

As for McGregor’s fighting career, he is expected to return at some point this year against Michael Chandler. However, no official timeline has been laid out, despite there being several ‘announcements’ and countless rumours.

This chapter of McGregor’s career has dragged on for some time now, hopefully he can return to fighting from sooner rather than later.
