Kelvin Gastelum wants to give things another go with Robert Whittaker.

The former interim UFC middleweight title challenger took to Twitter to call “Bobby Knuckles” out, saying he wants to “finish what we started.”

“12 week camp: 10lb weight cut: Weigh ins: 184lbs Fight day: No Show (Bubblegut problems) Can an Aussie pick his chin up off the floor and bring it to London?”

Whittaker was once scheduled to defend his then-middleweight title against Gastelum at UFC 234 in February. However, due to an abdominal hernia, Whittaker was forced to undergo emergency surgery the morning of the fight, forcing him to pull from the contest. Since, Whittaker has dropped the 185-pound strap after suffering a crushing second-round knockout loss to Israel Adesanya in Australia.

As for Gastelum, he’s currently on a two-fight losing streak. The former “Ultimate Fighter” winner has suffered defeats to both Adesanya and Darren Till in his last two outings, both via decision. While Gastelum would like to try things with Whittaker again, the former champ is reportedly in talks to fight Jared Cannonier in March. However, there’s also interest in a fight between Whittaker and Till in London next year.

The UFC is looking to bring back Robert Whittaker in March, but it won’t be against Darren Till, as both men expressed interest in.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that the Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion is looking at Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier for March 7. Whittaker comes off of a second-round knockout loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243. Cannonier is doing phenomenal at the moment, on a three-fight win streak, and coming off a TKO win over Jack Hermansson.

Helwani also reports the UFC is looking at Johnny Walker vs. Nikita Krylov for March 14. Walker comes off the first defeat of his UFC career, suffering a first-round TKO loss to Corey Anderson on the featured preliminary bout of UFC 244 inside Madison Square Garden in New York. It ended Walker’s three-fight win streak. As for Krylov, he has dropped two of his last three bouts. In his most recent outing, Krylov suffered a decision loss to Glover Teixeira.

The report suggests Walker vs. Krylov is all but done. However, Whittaker vs. Cannonier is not yet finalized, as Whittaker still likes the idea of fighting Till in London.

“Couple of other fights being discussed for March: Jared Cannonier vs. Robert Whittaker, March 7. Johnny Walker vs. Nikita Krylov, March 14. I’m told the latter is all but done, but the former is still in talks because Whittaker really likes the idea of London v Till.”

UFC middleweight contender Darren Till wants to fight Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of Conor McGregor’s comeback card.

It was reported Thursday by ESPN that McGregor has signed his part of the deal to face Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246 which takes place January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It will be McGregor’s first fight in 15 months with the card likely to be one of the biggest in recent memory. And Till unsurprisingly wants in on all the attention it will get.

“The Gorilla” recently enjoyed a successful middleweight debut against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 earlier this month. Since then, he has been frequently calling out former middleweight champion Whittaker.

And he made yet another attempt to get a fight happening with “The Reaper” following the McGregor news:

“Surely they need a co-main event ? @robwhittakermma let’s go! #LowTopTing ?” Till wrote on Instagram.

For Whittaker’s part, he was receptive to the idea and called for a showdown in the UFC’s return to London in March. However, not much has moved forward since.

Maybe with the McGregor news, things will start speeding up a bit more.

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker admitted he didn’t like being the king of the division that much.

Whittaker lost his middleweight title following a second-round knockout at the hands of Israel Adesanya last month at UFC 243. It ended an unusual title reign for “The Reaper” who never actually won the title — as he was promoted from interim champion — and never defended it either — with Yoel Romero missing weight for their UFC 225 rematch.

But other than that, the Aussie just wasn’t a fan of the expectations that came with being champion:

“Yeah I kind of, I didn’t really like it that much,” Whittaker said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday (via MMA Mania). “It’s one of those things that, it comes with some pros, but the cons really starting distracting me. There’s a lot of media, a lot of expectations and a lot of self-imposed pressure. It didn’t agree with me super-well.

“I’ve always been the sort of guy who just likes to fight. I like the challenge, I like the next opponent. I like to work at just how am going to beat you. Another thing is, I love being the underdog. I love people just writing me off like, ‘You’re going to lose.’ I love the struggle.”

While most people dream of becoming champion, Whittaker’s end goal was to just beat everyone in front of him. The title was just an add-on of having done just that:

“The biggest thing for me is that even through my journey in the division, that was never the objective,” he added. “The title was never the objective, it was a result of.

“I just focused one one fight after the next after the next. And I just enjoyed it, loved doing it. I am now hungrier than ever, honestly I can say that. I am excited for the next fight and I am excited for what the future brings for next year. And I just can’t wait to get back in there.”
