Conor McGregor took a dig at fellow former two-division champion Henry Cejudo following Saturday night’s UFC 288 main event.

‘Triple C’ came up short in his quest to become a three-time champion, suffering a closely-contested split decision loss to the reigning 135-pound king, Aljamain Sterling. Following the announcement, Conor McGregor took to Twtter in order to take a shot at the Olympic gold medalist.

“Easiest money I’ve ever made. Not a scratch on Aljo! Congrats Funkmaster! Good little fighter is Henry but give it a rest with these agendas all the time. The guy is sub 20 fights in his career. His little feints an all ahaha omg please teach me mastermind lol. Done the splits like a stripper and got dumped on his ass he did hahaha oh lord it’s tasty, @ProperWhiskey,” McGregor tweeted.

Conor McGregor Had Aljamain Sterling Up Four Rounds to One at UFC 288

While the bout was incredibly close with some suggesting Henry Cejudo did enough to dethrone ‘Funk Master’, the majority of fans online appeared to agree with the decision, as does Conor McGregor who revealed in another social media post that he had Sterling winning the bout 4-1, or 49-46.

Walking out of his third UFC title defense with gold still wrapped around his waist, Aljamain Sterling will now turn his attention to No. 2 ranked contender Sean O’Malley. Following Saturday night’s main event, O’Malley stepped inside the Octagon for a heated face off with ‘Funk Master’ that nearly got out of hand. During their profanity-laced exchange, the two men appeared to agree on a September setting for their highly anticipated bantamweight title fight.

While it won’t be September, Conor McGregor is also slated for a fall return to the Octagon as he is expected to square off with high-octane lightweight striker ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler. Before the two men strap on the four-ounce gloves, they will coach opposite one another on the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, set to begin airing later this month.

Sean O'Malley urges Henry Cejudo to win at UFC 288 please win so i can beat the f*ck out of you

Sean O’Malley has made it very clear who he wishes to win this weekend, pleading with Triple C Henry Cejudo to beat current champion, Aljamain Sterling in tonight’s UFC 288 headliner.

With the bantamweight fight between Cejudo and Sterling rapidly approaching, it’s no surprise the man who could be in next for a title shot makes his opinion heard on who he wishes to win. Having had back and forth with both fighters in the past, O’Malley has clearly stated he wants Cejudo next.

Henry Cejudo returns to action after announcing his retirement in 2020 when he took on Bantamweight great, Dominick Cruz. Since that time he has spent the majority coaching fighters from UFC to the regional level indicating he has picked up a wealth of knowledge in that time that will show major benefit in his upcoming fight just hours away.

Calling for his shot at bantamweight spoils next, number two ranked contender, O’Malley urged Cejudo to win so they can share the Octagon with each other.

“Henry (Cejudo) please win so i can beat the f*ck out of you,” Sean O’Malley tweeted.

Aljamain Sterling has had a weird time as champion winning the belt off of a controversial illegal knee, defending it in a close decision then fighting an injured TJ Dillashaw where many fans have disrespected the Jamaican champion as a result. But with a clear-cut win over Cejudo it would be very hard to take anything away from Sterling who will then of defended his title three times against three different former champions and arguably the division’s greatest of all time.

Sean O’Malley’s rise to fame

O’Malley recently won a split decision against former UFC champion Petr Yan, the fight was not meant to go the way of O’Malley but he more than proved that he does in fact belong at the highest level. He has since seen himself be etched down as the number one contender with him most likely facing the winner of the title fight tonight. And with a pivotal rise to fame that has massively rose O’Malley’s stock since debuting in the UFC in 2018 unless you count his DWCS appearance with a viral KO and then win on the Ultimate Fighter 26 finale.

Should it be Sean O’Malley who faces Cejudo next should he win back the title tonight?

“I wouldn’t mind two tune-ups before I go against Alexander Volkanovski,” Henry Cejudo told assembled media ahead of UFC 288. “Sean O’Malley, he’s that dirty Q-tip, he’s a privileged brat. I think we all know that, and I’m going to hurt him. But first things first, Aljamain is first.”

“I know he’s confident, but I know deep down inside that he respects me a little too much. He’s going to see that competitor once the cage locks, he’s going to look into my eyes, and he’s going to to see what I’m made out of. Sean O’Malley is next and I like that fight. I love the fact that he’s tall, I love the fact that he’s popular, and I’m going to hurt that dude.”

“Right away, I want O’Malley,” Henry Cejudo explained. “Make sure he listens to this – I want him right away. I want to take at least about a month off and then boom, UFC, set it up. Let’s set it up and let’s do it in Boston. Let’s do it in his backyard. That wannabe American. Let’s do it in Boston.”

Weighing up potential top-5 outings off the back of his triumph against Arizona native, Simon last night at the UFC Apex facility, Yadong called for a rematch with Marlon Vera, as wel las Montana striker, O’Malley – however, claims a fight with the latter is unlikely.

“So, I want to fight top-five fighters, even [Rob] Font, he’s six, right?” Song Yadong told assembled media following UFC Vegas 72. “He’s okay. Yeah, ‘Chito’ [Marlon] Vera, and Sean O’Malley. But they [the UFC] probably won’t give me Sean O’Malley, the UFC [will] protect him.”

“Yeah, whatever, just top five, my goal is to fight top five fighters this year,” Song Yadong continued.

Sidelined since UFC 280 back in October of last year, O’Malley, a product of Dana White’s Contender Series, managed to hand former undisputed bantamweight champion, Petr Yan a close, decision loss.

O’Malley, who has confirmed he will be fighting for a title in the bantamweight division in his next Octagon walk, was booted from the #1 rank at bantamweight back in March after Merab Dvalishvili landed a one-sided unanimous decision win over common-foe, Yan.

Prior to last night’s win over Simon, Yadong had landed notable Octagon wins over the likes of Marlon Moraes, Casey Kenney, and the above-mentioned, Marlon Vera.

Earlier this month, Israel Adesanya gave a rare insight into his personal life in a social media rant regarding his ex-girlfriend. The 33-year-old would call out the unnamed women, declaring he has ‘time and lawyer money’ via his Instagram.

“You don’t care about my life cause you’ve sold info about me, so I don’t care about yours. I don’t even hate; I just don’t care about you. I’ve not been in love with you for a while. In summary, I’m glad this happened. I wouldn’t change a f**king thing,” said Adesanya.

“Me loading up receipts…. Y’all shoulda left me the f**k alone! I got time and I got lawyer money”

“Women’s ‘Standards ‘ are merely fairy tales they have after living in a nightmare.” “LOL women…”

Sean O’Malley reacts

Talking on his podcast, O’Malley would come to the defence of the reigning middleweight champion and would state that ‘b**ches’ are crazy.

“I don’t know how their relationship was ever because I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend or anything, but to want half of his sh*t, to want half of what he’s gone out there and done, that’s absolutely ridiculous. Be happy, Izzy, give her a thousand bucks, she’ll be alright.” Said O’Malley.

“Maybe if they were together 15 years, since the beginning, and she didn’t work cause she was constantly making him food, massaging, at the gym doing all this stuff for him, then I say yeah. Definitely not half, no way in hell half, but maybe compensate a little bit. I mean, dude, girls, you could be in love but the second happens, them b**ches get crazy.”(H/T Sportskeeda)

Sean O’Malley weighs in on Nate Diaz’s recent street brawl involving a Logan Paul impersonator.

This past weekend, Diaz once again captured headlines for his out-of-cage activities. This time however, it was not just a slap or a push, Diaz would latch up a guillotine choke on Rodney Petersen, who made his name for looking like the eldest Paul brother. Diaz would choke Peterson until he was unconscious, then would drop his body onto the concrete, leading to Petersen suffering a gash on the back of his head.

This came following a fight breaking out after an influencer boxing event in New Orleans, in which Diaz friend and training partner, Chris Avila, was fighting. A scuffle also started inside the arena but seemingly spilled out onto the street after the end of the event. Diaz now finds himself facing a charge for second-degree battery, following new Orleans police issuing an arrest warrant for the former UFC brawler.

Sean O’Malley defends Nate Diaz

While some have criticized Diaz for his actions, many fighter shave come to the defence of the Stockton native. Talking on his podcast, O’Malley claims that Petersen should not have walked up to Diaz in the manner that he did.

“What the point in rolling up to him in the first place with your hands up?,” O’Malley said. “Why not just not roll up to him. Just don’t walk up towards him, it’s loud, it’s crazy – if you really wanna have a conversation that’s really not the best way.

Diaz is set to face Jake Paul on August 5 in Dallas, Texas later on this year, in what has all the makings of a massive event.
