Henry Cejudo made a huge statement with his first-round TKO victory over bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw last month.
With the victory, many believe it would be more than enough to save the 125-pound division from its rumored end. However, no official announcement has come from the promotion or President Dana White. Speaking to media in Australia recently, Cejudo said he hasn’t been told anything either, but believes he should be kept in the loop out of respect (via MMAjunkie):
“Welcome to the UFC, welcome to MMA,” Cejudo said. “I’m speechless. I don’t know what to tell you guys. I really don’t. I’m getting no answer from (White) either. There’s a pink elephant in the room.
“It’s like, ‘Hey, I’m the champ.’ I should be told something at least, out of a little bit out of respect. It’s still unsure.”
While the future of the flyweight division wasn’t quite clear, Cejudo did get an idea of what the UFC wants for his next fight. It sounds like everyone is on board to run Dillashaw vs. Cejudo back for a second go around. This time, however, the action could go down at bantamweight:
“One thing they do want, they do want that T.J. fight,” Cejudo said. “Dana wants it, T.J. wants it, we want it. That’s kind of where everything is heading as of now.
“Possibly (at bantamweight). I would like it, I know I could beat the man again at 135 pounds. I know what I saw in those 32 seconds, I see a lot of opportunities for me.”

It looks as through flyweight champion Henry Cejudo is open to an immediate rematch with bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw At 125 pounds after all.
At first, Cejudo had no interest in running it back with the bantamweight king. After all, he did make it look pretty easy against Dillashaw.
Be that as it may, “The Messenger” has changed his tune as of late, mainly because “
“If T.J. wants to run it back at 125 we can,” Cejudo told MMAjunkie. “If he still feels like he can beat me at ’25, let’s just run it again. To go to ’35 would be for the legacy, but I’m not opposed to him coming down to ’25 again. I’m not opposed to it.”
As the uncertainty of the 125 & 135 pound title pictures play out, Cejudo knows one thing. That is a rematch with Dillashaw is necessary.
“(Him call it a fluke is) actually kind of a compliment,” Cejudo said. “Now he’s saying that it really did happen. If you say it’s a fluke, it’s something that wasn’t supposed to happen but it happened. It’s OK. It just lets you know how he’s feeling. It’s who he is. I’m a sore loser, too. I don’t say it in the public. He’s just revealing it more to the public and that’s who he is. I don’t take offense to it, I really don’t.
“(The stoppage was) not my decision. It’s not my job. I was going to hurt him regardless. It wasn’t going to make it past that minute, I promise you. I’d put my house on it, I would put everything I own on it because he was hurt.”
Further proving that he is much more than one of the best pound-for-pound fighters Cejudo has already begun to weave the narrative for the rematch. He is, of course, referring to Dillashaw insisting that Cejudo’s KO was a ‘fluke.’
“If I go up it would have to be a title shot immediately,” Cejudo said. “I’ve got a belt at 125 and I can’t be fighting some No. 2 or 3 guy, with all due respect. I think there’s a lot of fights for me. I’m a chameleon. I fill into 135 very well too. I think I’ll be bigger than all of them. The size that I use and how I feel. At 125 there’s nobody in the world that can match my strength. Marlon Moraes, all those guys are on my hit-list too. I would love to fight those guys.
“I think taking out T.J., sometime in July or August. Taking that belt and then fighting possibly in December and to be, being the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Beating T.J. I would be the only guy with two belts, an Olympic gold medal. You would be crazy not calling me the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Just taking heads. Putting heads on a spike.’

On the heels of his fourth straight win, UFC bantamweight Marlon Moraes has declared that he is the best 135-pound fighter in the world.
Moraes looked fantastic on Saturday night as he defeated Raphael Assunção in the first round of their UFC Fortaleza main event match-up. With the win, the “Magic” man became the clear-cut number one contender to division king T.J. Dillashaw.
However, Moraes believes that the beating that Henry Cejudo gave to Dillashaw makes him the new bantamweight champ.
“If you ask me, I feel like I am the 135-pound champion. I am the best 135 pounder in the world. The guy, the champion just went down and he lost in 30 seconds against a 125 pounder. So I feel like I am the champion,” said Moraes during a recent interview on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. (h/t mmamania)
Of course, Moraes would be willing to welcome Dillashaw back to the 135-pound division if that’s what the matchmakersrs wanted.
“Whatever they want to do, if they want to bring him up, I am going to be very happy to welcome him and settle this,” he said. “Right now I have no talk about any fight or anything. My only focus is going there and
Marlon also revealed that he only has one fight remaining on his current UFC deal. And that if the promotion doesn’t offer him a title fight next, it sounds like “Magic” might be taking his show on the road.
“If not the belt, I am going to move forward and see what I’m going to do. I’m in the sport to be champion, the time comes and the time is now. There is nothing to discuss. I am going to fight for the title and that’s it.”
Moraes should be the next man to challenge for the bantamweight title, but in the UFC, anything is possible and likely.
That being said, the biggest obstacle in Moraes’ way to the title could be Dillashaw vs. Cejudo II. That would leave the Brazilian as the odd man out, but it’s unlikely the UFC lets Moraes walk away in his prime.

Some believe the stoppage was a tad premature, especially Dillashaw, while others believed it was just. With that being said, much talk of a rematch has been dominating the conversation.
It’s likely it takes place at 135 pounds, so Cejudo could attempt to become the UFC’s fourth-ever “Champ Champ.” If that were to happen, Cejudo tells MMA Fighting he might finish Dillashaw even “quicker” at bantamweight (via Bloody Elbow):
“Maybe I’m gonna finish him quicker,” Cejudo said.

Dillashaw was extremely upset with the way the first fight with Cejudo ended, and complained the stoppage was early. He put in a ton of work to make the cut down to 125 pounds, and felt as if his opportunity at becoming a two-division UFC champion was robbed from him.
