Tony Ferguson warns sensitive Paddy Pimblett will run back to mommy after UFC 296 fight

Former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson claims he’s supremely confident of snapping his lengthy six-fight losing skid at UFC 296 this weekend against Paddy Pimblett, describing the Liverpool native as “sensitive” and more concerned with his social media presence than fighting.

Ferguson, a former interim lightweight champion under the banner of the organization, has been sidelined from the Octagon since he featured at UFC 291 back in July in Salt Lake City – suffering a late third round arm-triangle submission loss to Bobby Green.

As for Pimblett, the promotional-perfect contender has been sidelined himself since he co-headlined UFC 282 back in December of last year, landing a hugely-controversial unanimous decision win over Jared Gordon to improve his Octagon winning streak to four consecutive fights.

Tony Ferguson vows to beat Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296

And attempting to bring a much-needed halt to his losing run and spring a victory for the first time since a doctor’s stoppage TKO win over former title challenger, Donald Cerrone, Ferguson has vowed to do such this weekend at UFC 296 – envisioning no other outcome against Pimblett.

“It’s [the fight] going to go the way I want,” Tony Ferguson told ESPN MMA. “I’ve already visualized it, I’ve trained my ass off for it and I don’t see this kid [Paddy Pimblett] beating me. He’s worried about me blocking him on Instagram, sensitive little bastard.”

“Wait till you get cut,” Tony Ferguson continued. “And you start to see your own blood, you’re gonna run out of that cage back to mommy.”

And ahead of his return at UFC 296, Ferguson is set to bring with him former United States Navy SEAL, David Goggins into his corner for his fight with Pimblett – who recently put the former interim champion through his paces as part of a greulling “hell week” training regime.

Former United States Navy SEAL and endurance trainer, David Goggins is reportedly set to corner former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 this weekend – as the Oxnard veteran looks to snap a disappointing six-fight losing skid in his fight with Paddy Pimblett.

Ferguson, a former interim lightweight champion, has been sidelined since he featured on the main card of UFC 291 back in July, suffering a late third round arm-triangle submission loss to recent UFC Austin feature, Bobby Green.

And ahead of his return to the Octagon against Liverpool prospect, Pimblett this weekend, The Ultimate Fighter veteran, Ferguson employed the training talents and techniques of the above-mentioned, Goggins.

Pushed to his limit in a series of training videos posted on his official social media, former interim champion, Ferguson became the first civilian to complete Goggins’ Navy SEAL ‘hell week’ programme.

And according to UFC play-by-play lead ahead of this weekend’s flagship event in Las Vegas, Ferguson is set to welcome Goggins into his corner for his lightweight scrap with the returning Pimblett.

“Certainly for us, we want to hear how this training camp is different from past training camps,” Jon Anik told MMA Fighting. “Is [Tony Ferguson’s coach] David MIlls still a centerpiece? Oftentimes the first lens for me into the preparation when I look into the 28 fighters is ‘Let me see that corner audio sheet, let me see hwo’s gonna be in the corner.’ It looks like David Goggins is probably going to be in that corner for Tony Ferguson.”

“But what exactly has the [Goggins] preperation held?” Anik continued. “You know, for me I know that my body feels different at 45 than [at] 35, even if I’m still exercising the same way. …Will he answer the veracity? I don’t know. How does his body feel, really, at this stage in his career? How is his body recovering, you know? But, I’m excited to see him try to sort of, you know, have one final moment, and maybe it’ll come against Paddy Pimblett, maybe it won’t.”

Tony Ferguson calls critics eunics ahead of UFC 296 defends athleticism that's not a failed knee slide

Former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson has labelled critics of his apparent waning athleticism amid his recent losing skid as “eunics” – as the Oxnard veteran prepares for his return at UFC 296 this weekend against Paddy Pimblett.

Ferguson, a former interim lightweight titleholder, returns to the Octagon at UFC 296 this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, taking on Liverpool native, Pimblett in a main card clash on the final flagship event of the year for the promotion.

In the midst of a disappointing six-fight losing skid ahead of his fight with Pimblett, Ferguson, who previously held a record-setting 12-fight winning run in the division – has been sidelined since he dropped a third round arm-triangle submission loss to recent UFC Austin feature, Bobby Green back in July.

Tony Ferguson denies a lack of athleticism

And hitting out at critics of his apparent waning athleticism amid his continued losing streak, Ferguson branded those who believed it to be true as “eunics”.

“Not a failed knee slide you filthy casuals,” Tony Ferguson posted on his official X account. “That’s a wrestling thing I’ve done since I was little, something you wouldn’t know sh*t about ya eunics. Mack.”

Without a victory since he featured at UFC 238 in 2019, Ferguson’s most recent win came in the form of a second round doctor’s stoppage TKO win over former title challenger and Hall of Fame inductee, Donald Cerrone.

Winning interim lightweight gold in 2017, Ferguson rallied to turn in a triangle choke submission win over the retired promotional alum, Kevin Lee.

Paddy Pimblett Shows off shredded physique ahead of His Octagon Return at UFC 296

Paddy Pimblett

Paddy Pimblett is looking shredded ahead of his long-awaited return to the Octagon.

A year removed from his controversial unanimous decision win over Jared Gordon last December, ‘The Baddy’ will gun for his seventh-straight win at UFC 296 on December 16. Standing in his way will be former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson, who enters the bout with six straight losses.

Fans have not seen Pimblett in action for the past year, but the Liverpudlian appears to be in impeccable shape, as seen in a brief video shared on the lightweight standout’s Instagram.

Since making his promotional debut in 2021, Paddy Pimblett has become infamous for his insane post-fight food binges that have seen him consume 8,000 calories per day and gaining upwards of 50 pounds between fights. Perhaps even more impressive than the food he could pack away was his uncanny ability to work it off in such a short period of time.

Paddy Pimblett’s Legendary Eating Binges are over

Having spent the last 12 months recovering from a foot injury sustained during his last fight, Pimblett has seemingly skipped out on his famous pig-out sessions for the most part, making his weight cut going into UFC 296 a much more streamlined experience.

In an interview with SLOTHBOXX, Pimblett indicated that his days of eating an exorbitant amount of food following a big fight are largely over.

“People keep asking me, ‘Are you fighting?’ because I’m not that fat at the minute,” Pimblett said. “They say, ‘You must have a fight coming up, you lad, because you’re normally well fatter than this.’ I’m like, ‘Nah, lad. I’m just not that fat at the minute.’ People keep saying to me, ‘Lad, you’re not that heavy. You must have a fight coming up.’ I haven’t. As I’ve said before, I’ve got an eating disorder when I’m fighting, when I’m cutting weight and dieting.

“After a fight, I’ve got a bad eating disorder. At the minute, I’m not too bad because obviously I had surgery. I went to America and got fat again, then came back and had surgery. And after the surgery, my weight has just gradually come down. Now I’m just walking around at about (185 pounds) and not really watching what I’m eating. I’m just hobbling around at that weight, which is nice. I’ve plateaued around this weight. Hopefully I’ll never go above (200 pounds) again(h/t MMA Junkie).

David Goggins Snaps Back at ‘Stupid Comments’ From UFC Fans in Defense of Tony Ferguson Vomit Video

David Goggins

Ex-U.S. Navy Seal and ultramarathon runner David Goggins is snapping back at UFC fans.

Earlier this week, Goggins and former UFC interim titleholder Tony Ferguson released a video showing the pair working together ahead of Ferguson’s return to the Octagon on December 16. El Cucuy‘ is currently sitting on a six-fight losing streak. Determined to turn things around, the UFC fan favorite called in Goggins, an elite athlete and motivational speaker who has put the UFC star through a “hell week” in hopes of guiding him back into the win column next month.

However, many fight fans were quick to criticize Goggins’ extreme training methods which can be seen in the video clip below:

Delivering an explicit-filled response on social media, Goggins insisted that critical commenters were simply uneducated and afraid of the hard work being put on display.

“Rather than trying to find flaw in the methodology, try finding inspiration in watching someone searching their soul for every last bit of themselves!” Goggins wrote on Instagram. “I have been a high-level endurance athlete for almost 20 years and trained some of the best athletes around and what we are doing right now is not for the faint of heart.

“When you train a person like Tony, you have to find their limit and once you find it, that is when you have to push them way beyond it. The challenge with Tony is that his limit is way the fuck out there because of his ability to handle so much pain. What you are seeing in this video is a man that has been through 4 days of a no-shit hell week. This isn’t like a football two-a-days or some wrestling camp bullshit.

Goggins Insists Hard Work ‘Is Never Pretty’

“I see the comments that Tony should be sparring or be on the bag rather than doing this kind of cardio,” Goggins continued. “I can tell that the vast majority of you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. To have the guts- and I mean guts- to allow a motherfucker like me to train him shows exactly his commitment to come back and win again.

“Many of you have no idea what it does to a human being’s mind when their body keeps saying to stop but their mind will not allow them to!!!! There is a lesson to be learned here. He’s comfortable with you all seeing what he is going through because this is the exact kind of dedication it takes to reach greatness. Hard work is never pretty!

“This is why it is so foreign to some of you,” Goggins said. “Watching a person work this hard and striving for greatness scares a lot of you. It’s okay. It used to scare me too. I used to be one of those guys making stupid comments about the ones who wanted it like there was no tomorrow. Stay hard!”

‘El Cucuy’ is scheduled to face streaking standout Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett at UFC 296.

If Ferguson fails to get back into the win column against the Liverpudlian, he is expected to hang up his four-ounce gloves for good, bringing an end to his 15-year career in mixed martial arts.
