Tuf_12_posterAnother bout surfaced for the upcoming “TUF 12″ Finale, set for Dec. 4th at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC middleweights Rich Attonito (9-3) and Dave Branch (7-1) will meet at “The Ultimate Fighter” season 12 Finale according to MMAjunkie.com. There was no official word on if the fight would make the televised card or not, but it’s likely the bout would not make the Spike TV broadcast.

Attonito is riding a four fight win streak, which includes two in the UFC having defeated Rafael Natal via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares. The “TUF 11″ alumni would earn a second-round TKO over Jamie Yager in his UFC debut at the “TUF 11″ Finale. Attonito had advanced to the quarterfinals but an injury forced his withdrawal from the reality series tournament.

Branch bounced back from his first career loss by earning a unanimous decision over Tomasz Drwal in September at the UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares event. The loss, which was his UFC debut, was to Gerald Harris at last summers UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin event where he was knocked out after a brutal third round slam to the mat.

The current TUF 12 Finale card appears as follows:

Light Heavyweight bout: Stephan Bonnar vs. Igor Pokrajac
Middleweight bout: Kendall Grove vs. Demian Maia
Welterweight bout: Johny Hendricks vs. Rick Story
Middleweight bout: Rich Attonito vs. Dave Branch
Featherweight bout: Leonard Garcia vs. Tyler Toner

Tuf_12_posterIt looks like the UFC will start showcasing their newly acquired WEC fighters before January of next year. Featherweights Leonard Garcia (14-6-1) will meet Tyler Toner (11-2) on Dec. 4th at “TUF 12″ Finale in Las Vegas.

The bout was confirmed by MMAWeekly.com on Saturday.

Garcia will make his octagon debut on a loss after losing a close split decision to Mark Hominick at WEC 51 in September. That would make it two fights in a row that would go to a split decision for Garcia and the second straight “Fight of the Night” award for the fighter. The other bout being the memorable WEC 48 fight with “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. Despite finding himself in some exciting fights, Garcia’s record is only 1-2-1 in his past four.

Toner also suffered a loss in his last fight, losing a unanimous decision to Diego Nunes at WEC 51, ending a six fight unbeaten streak. So far Toner finds himself 1-1 since joining the WEC earlier this year having defeated Brandon Visher by TKO at WEC 48 in April.

The TUF 12 Finale is set for Dec. 4th at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. No word was given whether this bout would end up on the televised card or not.

TUF 12 coachesAnother Wednesday has passed and another episode of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck” has gone into the books. If you missed last nights recap then you missed the last remaining bouts of the opening round, which included the Wild Card bout.

UFC.com has a quick recap of Episode Seven, here it is.

After the official announcement of the Dane Sayers-Sako Chivitchian bout, it is revealed that Team GSP’s Spencer Paige is out of the running for the Wild Card bout after breaking his right hand in his loss to Nam Phan. The injury and his subsequent surgery will keep him in a cast for three months.

“It sucks that I’m out,” said Paige, “but everything happens for a reason.”

That leaves Team Koscheck’s Jeff Lentz, Marc Stevens, Sevak Magakian, Andy Main, and Aaron Wilkinson as the current candidates for the Wild Card bout…

Now it’s time for Koscheck’s win to translate to his team, and Chivitchian is motivated to do the job. It’s Sayers who draws first blood though as he sinks in a guillotine choke after a Chivitchian takedown attempt. After a few moments, Chivitchian escapes and starts firing ground strikes at his foe. Sayers fights his way back to his feet, but he remains pinned to the fence. With 3:25 left, Sayers breaks loose, but Chivitchian remains the aggressor with the exception of a late takedown attempt from the Team GSP member.

Chivitchian opens the second with a throw to the mat, some striking when Sayers gets up, and another takedown followed by ground strikes, making it clear that he wants to finish the fight strong. With three minutes left, Sayers is able to scramble to his feet, but Chivitchian continues to pressure him and keep him locked up against the fence. Eventually, Sayers reverses position and almost gets a takedown, but Chivitchian grabs the fence, drawing a warning from referee Josh Rosenthal. From there, Chivitchian simply keeps Sayers pinned, securing the unanimous decision win for the Armenian battler.

Sayers is still alive in consideration for the Wild Card bout, and now it’s time for GSP, Koscheck and UFC President Dana White to decide who will get a second shot at staying in the competition. And the winners are…Aaron Wilkinson and Marc Stevens.

TUF 12 coachesWednesday night saw the latest episode of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck” hit the Spike TV airways with episode five.

Down 0-3 in the competition, Team Koscheck needs a jolt of energy and / or inspiration to get them on the board, and coach Josh Koscheck believes he has the answer in welterweight contender Jon Fitch.

“The team is awesome and they have a great mentality,” said Fitch, who spars with the lightweight hopefuls. “The hardest thing to coach are people with bad attitudes. Give me a guy with no talent, out of shape, but who listens over a talented guy who thinks he knows everything and won’t listen.”

Back at the house, Team GSP’s Alex Caceres is starting off prank season, replacing Nam Phan’s fabric softener with bleach. Unfortunately, Michael Johnson used it for his own wash.

“It’s completely immature,” said Johnson, who says that the whole house is already sick of the fighter known as “Bruce Leeroy”….

For this week’s fight, St-Pierre chooses Spencer Paige to take on Team Koscheck’s Nam Phan, but before the opening bell, it’s time for another special visitor to enter the gym, UFC Hall of Famer Chuck ‘The Iceman’ Liddell, who fills Koscheck’s squad in on life in the fight game.

“Don’t forget to enjoy what you do,” said Liddell. “If you don’t like this, it’s not the job for you. Train hard, train smart, and enjoy it. Have fun.”

In the Paige-Phan bout, neither fighter wastes any time getting down to business, as they trade strikes at a fast clip. Paige’s kicks give him an early edge, one nullified by a straight right to the face by Phan. After settling down, Paige assumes control again behind a crisp striking game, but Phan keeps pushing forward, making sure that he gets his licks in as well. With under two minutes left, Phan catches a Paige kick and flips his opponent to the mat. Phan pounces immediately with ground strikes before locking up his arm towards the end of the round. Paige is in obvious pain, but the bell intervenes and saves him.
