Unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua believes Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are wasting their time by not fighting him.

Joshua will take on short-notice opponent Andy Ruiz Jr. at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 1. Meanwhile, Wilder most recently disposed of Dominic Breazeale, while Fury is scheduled to face Tom Schwartz next on June 15.

It doesn’t seem like either one will face Joshua next and if anything, are more likely to have their own rematch. But “AJ” believes it would be to their benefit to face him now rather than later.

“Wilder and Fury are wasting their own time,” Joshua said (via Independent). “They should fight me now. If I was them, I’d rather have it now than later. I don’t know what they are waiting for. They’re coming to the end of their careers, 10, 11 years as professionals. I’ve been doing it five years.

“I don’t think they’re going to get much better. It’s worse for them because I have another five years honing my skills. I’m not the finished article yet. I’m still working towards certain things so imagine another five years or another 18 months in my bag of tricks. I’ll have a few more skills I can do. The longer they leave it, the worse it’ll be for them so they should crack on.”

Starving The Fans

With all three heavyweights contracted to different broadcasters, Joshua may have to wait even longer to face either Wilder or Fury.

Having already accused the American of starving the fans of what they want to see, he believes it’s the same case with Fury.

“It’s the fans who are being starved of it,” Joshua explained. “It was all about me when Wilder started calling me out two years ago. ‘What’s Joshua doing? What’s Wilder doing?’ It was all about us, great profile building.

“Wilder looked like a crazy man calling me out, Fury came back. And then nothing has happened. So now the fans are the ones getting the hard end of the stick. I don’t know why it’s not happening with all that talk and profile building. Figures being thrown around, dates and venues. It’s not about me anymore. I feel sorry for the people who want to see it.”

Hopefully fans get to see Joshua face at least one of the unbeaten heavyweights sooner rather than later.

Tyson Fury: Deontay Wilder Can Go ‘Suck My Nuts’

They might not be fighting each other next, but Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have no problem taking shots at one another.

“The Gypsy King” led the way recently during an interview with TMZ Sports, calling “The Bronze Bomber” a “bum,” and saying he’ll rematch his former opponent at any place, at any time (via Bad Left Hook):

“Wilder is a bum. He’s got a puncher’s chance, that’s it,” Fury said. “Like I said, Wilder is a massive dosser, and he works for me. That’s all Wilder is.

“He’s a big, bum dosser, bum city, hashtag anytime, any place, anywhere. When we fight again, I promise him he’ll be looking at the stars.”

Fury left Wilder with one last sour message – “go suck my nuts”:

“Deontay Wilder, go suck my nuts,” Fury said. “You wanna do anything about it, bitch, come find me.”

Fury and Wilder initially fought for the American’s WBC heavyweight title back in December. After a great contest, which included two knockdowns from Wilder, the fight ended in a Majority Draw.

Many believe Fury out-classed Wilder on the feet. But Wilder came closer to finishing the fight, especially on his second knockdown, in which many believed Fury to be completely unconscious. However, Fury got back to his feet and lived to see the judges’ scorecards.

After failed negotiations for a rematch, it might be some time before they meet inside the ring again.
