I’m going to make two predictions.

1. Yushin Okami won’t get the next middleweight title shot.

2. Chael Sonnen will.

I know the UFC promised that the winner of the UFC 122 fight between Okami and Nate Marquardt would be promised the next spot in line. And to his credit, UFC president Dana White said after the event that he’d follow through on that promise. I just think that sometime soon, he’ll reconsider the decision. And when he does, there will only be one direction to go.

Krzysztof Soszynski and Goran Reljic went through 15 minutes of hard fighting Saturday at UFC 122, with Soszynski winning all three rounds on all three judges’ scorecards to walk away with the unanimous decision.

“That boy’s tough,” Soszynski said afterward. “That boy is one tough SOB.”

Soszynski’s record improves to 25-11-1, while Reljic is now on a three-fight losing streak and has fallen to 8-3.

Former Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah easily defeated Germany’s own Peter Sobotta Saturday at UFC 122 in Oberhausen, Germany, taking a unanimous decision.

“He’s a super tough guy, definitely on his way up,” Sadollah said afterward of the 23-year-old Sobotta.

But it was the 30-year-old Sadollah who was clearly the superior fighter in the Octagon on Saturday. Although Sobotta fought hard, this fight was never really in doubt.

In a battle of two European lightweights, Germany’s Dennis Siver put on a great show in front of the hometown fans in Oberhausen, Germany, submitting England’s Andre Winner in the first round of their fight Saturday at UFC 122.

“Thank you very much to the German crowd, to the German public,” the victorious Siver said afterward. “It was my duty to win here. It was the most important thing in my life.”

Siver first dropped Winner with a big left hand to the nose, then pounced on Winner on the ground, took his back, and sunk in a rear-naked choke to force Winner to tap at 3:37 of the first round. It was an extremely impressive showing for the well-rounded Siver, improving his professional record to 17-7, including nine wins by submission.
