Jon Fitch UFC 127 Fight JournalMuch has been made of a video I posted on my YouTube channel, OfficialJonFitch, detailing a few dietary changes I’ve made in recent months. They say a picture paints a thousand words, but I’d like to now take the time to add a few more words to the video content and fully explain the adventure I’m currently embarking on, three weeks out from my fight against BJ Penn at UFC 127 on Saturday, Feb. 26.

This move towards a healthier lifestyle began in the weeks leading up to UFC 100, when I was preparing to face Paulo Thiago and, a few weeks out from the fight, decided to cut out meat from my diet and eat purely raw and organic foods. I noticed the difference straight away and felt great as a result.

Then, last December, I stumbled across a book called The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, and read it from front to back while out in Australia a couple of months ago promoting this upcoming UFC 127 show.

There is less than two weeks to go before I trek Down Under and battle B.J. Penn, and I’m not sure which of those two things I’m more excited about. I’ll be facing Penn on Saturday, February 26 at Sydney’s Acer Arena and couldn’t be happier with either the opponent or venue.

I’m at the stage in my career right now where I want to be fighting for titles and in main events. I am now a mature and seasoned headline fighter and I want to experience more of these big nights. I don’t want to be appearing in the preliminaries or at the bottom end of a main card.

I am going to use this opportunity to prove to everyone that I am deserving of a second UFC welterweight title shot. I’ve long competed at a good level and actually have the second highest win percentage in UFC history, so I think I’ve paid my dues.

With UFC 126 officially behind us, it is now time to look ahead to UFC 127, and Jorge Rivera and his friends at RangerUp have already called in an insult mortar strike.  Or maybe it’s smack attack helicopter.  Napalm strike of disrespect?  Whatever.  He’s on some Black Ops shit, is all we’re saying.

Now,  this is taking trash talk to a whole ‘nother level.  Rivera scores points for keeping his name out there as a fun dude and generating interest in a fight that could have gotten lost in the shuffle, and if this actually rattles Bisping a bit and throws off his mind set?  Well, then Rivera–who by the way will turn 39 years old the day after the Bisping fight–may have another reason to sing.

UFC 126 went down about as we expected.

Let’s say you had a made a “standard” $100 bet on our best values, here’s how you’d have faired:

:: Public money was heavy on Vitor Belfort, but we just didn’t get it. Nothing against Belfort, but one of our top MMA Fix gambling rules is: Don’t bet against Anderson Silva until proven otherwise (same goes for GSP). By fight-time, the best value we could find for Silva was at -220 on Bookmaker here. So a bet of $100 would’ve earned you $45 in profit.

:: We never understood why Forrest Griffin was the dog against Rich Franklin. This always seemed like a classic Forrest-Griffin-is-all-heart-grind-it-out victory. Which it was. Had you taken the +125, you would’ve profited $125. Had you take the +250 on Griffin winning by decision, you’d have pocketed another $250. And had you taken our “what the eff” bet of a draw, you would’ve dropped $100.

:: Finally, Jon “Bones” Jones at +285 seemed like the lock of the evening. Jones earned the victory and his title shot. A $100 bet would’ve netted you around $35. We pumped this one for way more, but let’s just assume the standard $100 bet.

So if you had bet $100 on all of our suggestions, you would’ve won $455 had you not taken our flier, or $355 if you had. Not a bad night. Special recognition to Friend of Fix Larry Pepe, who nailed all of his picks as well.

Former UFC welterweight and lightweight champ BJ Penn suffered a bizarre injury recently.

Apparently "The Prodigy" was bitten by a spider on the back of the head while doing some promo in Australia and the sore became so infected that it caused some of his hair around the affected area to fall out. Hopefully for his sake, Jon Fitch doesn’t take him down and mop the canvas with his dome at UFC 127 like he usually does with opponents or else we may see BJ featured on popthatzit.com.

On a side note, what the hell is up with BJ’s coke nails?  Does he practice the ukelele in his spare time?

Maybe this explains why GSP’s eyes looked like they’d gone through a cheese grater the first time they fought.
