One of the biggest rematches of the year will be going down next week.

Headlining the UFC 241 pay-per-view (PPV) will be a heavyweight title rematch between defending champion Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. The pair initially met last year at UFC 226. “DC” managed to knock out Miocic in the first round. It ended the most successful heavyweight title reign in the UFC’s history, as Miocic was the first and only champion to successfully defend the title three times.

Speaking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Miocic discussed his upcoming rematch with Cormier. Miocic stated that his previous loss to Cormier only makes him hungrier, and his primary motivation heading into the rematch isn’t the belt, it’s proving that he’s the better fighter. (via MMA Junkie)

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” Miocic said. “That’s the way I look at it. It drives me, it makes me hungrier. I want that belt back. It’s not even about the belt – I know I’m a better fighter.”

In regards to the specific sequence that put Miocic away his first time out against Cormier, the Cleveland native said he’s been hit harder, but never right on the button the way “DC” hit him that night.

“It wasn’t a good night,” Miocic said. “It didn’t play out the way I wanted it, but listen, the 17th, it’s going to be different. I can tell you that. He caught me with a punch, I thought I was all right. I’ve been hit harder, just not right on the button.”

What do you think about Miocic saying his rematch with Cormier isn’t about the belt?

In case it wasn’t clear enough, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones don’t like each other, and it looks like remaining that way for a very long time.

Cormier is set to defend his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic in a rematch that will headline UFC 241 later this month. Ahead of the event, ESPN’s “E:60” is releasing an episode featuring Cormier this Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, Jones plays a big part and in a preview of the episode, features tidbits of Cormier’s rivalry with the current UFC light heavyweight king.

“I don’t like him,” Cormier said in the video (via MMA Junkie). “We’ve never liked each other, and for anybody to tell you anything different is a lie.”

The clip would then show their infamous back-and-forth when the microphones were still recording. In response to Cormier wishing he could spit on his face, Jones retorted that he would kill him if he ever did that.

“When you tell a man you’re going to kill him, there’s no peace,” Cormier added. “It’s always going to be this.”

The rivalry between the two could even continue, provided Cormier comes out on top against Miocic. There’s been talk of a trilogy fight between the pair, with many wanting to see it at heavyweight where Cormier doesn’t have to endure a drastic weight cut.

However, both competitors seem to want any potential third fight at light heavyweight.

Do you think we’ll see them fight again and resume their rivalry?

UFC 241 is highly-anticipated for a number of reasons, but the people’s main event is certainly Anthony Pettis vs. Nate Diaz.

The event takes place August 17 in Anaheim, California, and will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. However, a lot of fans are more excited for the return of Diaz.

The 34-year-old will be making his return to the Octagon for the first time in nearly three years when he takes on Pettis in a welterweight contest. His last fight was his majority decision loss to Conor McGregor in their rematch at UFC 202 back in August 2016.

Since then, he has claimed he would only return for a trilogy fight with the Irishman or if he was paid an obscene amount of money. It looks like the latter might be the case, especially as Diaz was originally slated to face Dustin Poirier in a lightweight contest last November.

However, he now faces a rejuvenated Pettis who is fresh off a successful welterweight debut against Stephen Thompson — notably giving “Wonderboy” his first-ever knockout defeat.

Will “Showtime” make it two wins in a row for the first time since 2014? Will Diaz’s long layoff affect him in the Octagon? Or will the Stockton native’s pressure be too much for Pettis?

The pros are certainly split on what will happen in the co-main event of UFC 241. You can watch the likes of Frankie Edgar, Colby Covington, Gegard Mousasi and more give their predictions in the below video:

Nate Diaz returns to action later this month and has released an epic hype video to get you more pumped up about it.

Diaz takes on Anthony Pettis in a grudge match in the welterweight co-main event of UFC 241 which takes place August 17 in Anaheim, California. It will be Diaz’s first fight inside the Octagon since his majority decision loss to Conor McGregor almost three years ago.

Fans have been itching to see the Stockton native in action ever since. He was actually scheduled to face Dustin Poirier in a lightweight bout at UFC 230 last November. However, an injury to Poirier meant the fight was pulled.

However, with just under two weeks to go for UFC 241, fans won’t have to wait much longer. And they will undoubtedly be even more excited after watching Diaz’s hype video below:

Pettis, meanwhile, is coming off a spectacular knockout win over Stephen Thompson at UFC Nashville earlier this month. The former lightweight champion will now look to make it two wins in a row with another win over a huge name.

UFC 241 is a stacked card that will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. Hopefully, this fight comes to fruition as well.
