An undisputed UFC middleweight championship rematch between defending division champion, Alex Pereira, and the #1 ranked contender, former titleholder, Israel Adesanya is set to take main event honors at UFC 287 on April 8. An official location or venue for the pay-per-view card has yet to be determined at the time of publication.

As per UFC president, Dana White, Sao Paulo striker, Pereira will headline UFC 287 on April 8. in an immediate championship rematch against Adesanya, with the duo reigniting their kickboxing rivalry in the Octagon last November.

Headlining UFC 281 back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden, former two-weight GLORY Kickboxing champion, Alex Pereira ended the undisputed middleweight reign of Adesanya, handing him his first loss at 185lbs pounds in mixed martial arts with a rallying fifth round standing TKO loss.

The victory came as Pereira’s fourth under the UFC banner since debuting in the organization in November of the previous year. During his Octagon tenure, the Brazilian knockout artist has landed wins over Andreas Michailidis, Bruno Silva, Sean Strickland, and most recently, Adesanya.

For City Kickboxing staple, Adesanya, the Nigerian-Kiwi will be afforded an opportunity to finally snap his losing run against arch-rival, Alex Pereira on April 8. – having dropped a pair of losses to the latter during their respective kickboxing runs. 

Landing five successful title defenses over middleweight opposition before running into Brazilian force, Pereira, Adesanya had defeated Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker, and Jared Cannonier during his time atop the undisputed middleweight throne. 

In his sole other professional mixed martial arts loss, Eugene Bareman student, Adesanya suffered a unanimous decision loss to Polish veteran, Jan Blachowicz in the main event of UFC 259 in March 2021 in an unsuccessful pursuit of light heavyweight gold.

An undisputed UFC bantamweight championship fight between defending champion, Aljamain Sterling, and the returning, former undisputed flyweight and bantamweight titleholder, Henry Cejudo, is currently in the works for UFC 287 on April 8. As per an initial report from MMA Fighting reporters, Damon Martin, and Mike Heck, whilst official contracts for the proposed bantamweight title fight between Aljmain Sterling and Henry Cejudo have yet to be signed on either side, however, the bout is targeted to take place on April 8. 

Attempting to secure his third defense of the undisputed bantamweight crown, Aljamain Sterling most recently co-headlined UFC 280 back in October of last year against T.J. Dillashaw, stopping the Californian with a second round TKO.

For Cejudo, the former two-weight champion and Olympic gold medalist will snap his three-year Octagon hiatus and retirement at the event, having bowed out of the sport following a bantamweight title success win over Dominick Cruz in May of that year.

Previously expected to return to active competition as soon as March 5. at UFC 285, Sterling recently revealed the timeline would likely be less than ideal, after he suffered a bicep injury which requires further rehabilitation.

Successfully unifying the bantamweight crowns earlier last year, Uniondale native, Aljamain Sterling managed to land a split decision win over two-time foe, Petr Yan in his rematch with the Dudinka native.

Undefeated in his last six Octagon appearances prior to his 2020 retirement, Cejudo successfully landed the undisputed flyweight title in a rematch decision win over Demetrious Johnson back in August 2018, before defending in a 32-second TKO win over common-foe, Dillashaw.

Prior to his finish of Cruz to defend the bantamweight crown, Cejudo rallied to win the crown in a third round finish over Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 in 2019.

Kelvin Gastelum and Chris Curtis are scheduled for a middleweight fight on April 8 at UFC 287. The fight was originally reported by Alex Behunin. 

Gastelum(16-8-1 NC) is looking to bounce back from back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Jared Cannonier and Robert Whittaker. He was originally slated to headline the first event of the year against Nassourdine Imavov but was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a mouth injury. Since competing for the interim middleweight title against Israel Adesanya in 2019, Gastelum has gone 1-5 in his last six fights. Now, the former middleweight title contender is booked to compete in his first fight of 2023.  

Curtis (30-9) last competed at UFC 282, where he secured a second-round knockout over Joaquin Buckley. He’s 9-1 in his last 10 fights. He has UFC wins over Buckley, Rodolfo Vieira, Brendan Allen, and Phil Hawes. The No.14 middleweight will be looking for a better spot in the rankings with a win over No.13 Gastelum. 

The location and venue of the April pay-per-view has not been announced by the UFC.

Undefeated UFC bantamweight prospect, 18-year-old, Raul Rosas Jr. is set for his next Octagon walk following a successful bow in the promotion last year – booking an outing at UFC 287 on April 8. against Christian Rodriguez. At the time of publication, an official location or venue for the event has yet to be determined by the organization.

Rosas Jr., who boasts an undefeated 7-0 professional record, made his Octagon debut last month at UFC 282 against promotional alum, Jay Perrin, securing a dominant opening round rear-naked choke win.

For Rodriguez, the two-fight UFC veteran will attempt to land his second victory under the organizational banner, having recently scored an anaconda choke win over Joshua Weems back in October of last year. Eurosport reporter, Marcel Dorff was first to report the news of Raul Rosas Jr.’s return against Christian Rodriguez on April 8.

Touted as one of the biggest and brightest prospects in the sport today, Rosas Jr. earned his contract with the promotion off the back of a successful outing on Dana White’s Contender Series back in August of last year against Mando Gutierrez, scoring a unanimous decision victory at the UFC Apex facility event.

A slick Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, Rosas Jr. holds five total career victories via submission, to go with another knockout victory. 

Rosas Jr.’s expected Octagon return at UFC 287 in April marks a busy opening quarter for fighters from Mexico – with a trio of compatriots slated to compete for UFC gold in the opening quarter of 2023.

Next month, featherweight striker, Yair Rodriguez returns in an interim title fight against Josh Emmett at UFC 284 in Australia.

As part of an expected championship tripleheader at UFC 285 on March 4. – Sinaloa native, Irene Aldana is set to fight bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes in an undisputed title fight, while fellow Lobo Gym mainstay, Alexa Grasso books her first championship outing in the UFC in the form of a flyweight title clash opposite the dominant, Valentina Shevchenko.
