Slated to make his return to the Octagon at UFC 291 at the end of July, former middleweight championship challenger, is now “dialed in” to the sport again – according to promotional president, Dana White, ahead of a fight with Ikram Aliskerov.

Costa, the current #5 ranked middleweight contender, is set to feature on the main card of UFC 291 on July 29. at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah – taking on Dana White’s Contender Series alum, Aliskerov in a rather surprising matchup for the Belo Horizonte native.

Recently agreeing terms on a reportedly lucrative, new multi-fight deal with the organization, Brazilian contender, Paulo Costa most recently featured on the main card of UFC 278 in August of last year – snapping a run of two consecutive losses in a unanimous decision victory against former undisputed division champion, Luke Rockhold.

Paulo Costa has laughed off confirmation of his fight with Ikram Aliskerov at UFC 291

Despite scoffing and laughing at White’s confirmation of his return against Aliskerov at UFC 291 in July, Costa has been referred to as “dialled in” now amid the re-upping of his new deal by White, nevertheless.

“I think that every fighter we deal with is different in certain ways,” Dana White told Ag Fight during a recent interview. “Some are easy, some are tougher, but that’s our job. That’s what we do. Our job is to get deals done, and we finally got him (Paulo Costa) dialled in, and it will be fun to see him fight in Utah.”

“His last fight with (Luke Rockhold) was awesome, it was an incredible war,” Dana White explained. “It’s one of those fights that if you were there live that night or watching on TV, it’s a fight you’ll never forget. So, he’s fun to watch. It’ll be good to have him back.”

During his Octagon tenure, Paulo Costa has landed victories over the likes of the above-mentioned, Rockhold, as well as former welterweight champion, Johny Hendricks, Uriah Hall, and former middleweight title challenger, Yoel Romero.

One-time UFC middleweight title challenger, Paulo Costa has laughed off confirmation from promotional president, Dana White that he will be fighting at UFC 291 in July – taking on Contender Series alum, Ikram Aliskerov in a pay-per-view main card clash.

Costa, the current #5 ranked middleweight contender under the banner of the organization, has yet to feature inside the Octagon since he landed on the main card of UFC 278 back in August of last year against former undisputed middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, scoring a unanimous decision victory to return to the winner’s enclosure.

Boasting a 14-2 professional record, Belo Horizonte native, Costa has suffered defeats to just champion, Israel Adesanya courtesy of a second round knockout, as well as a close decision defeat to Marvin Vettori after forcing an impromptu light heavyweight showdown.

Confirming how he has reached terms with the UFC on a new, reportedly lucrative multi-fight deal, Costa, who had been linked with an October return in Abu Dhabi, UAE against the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294.

However, confirming the promotion’s return to Salt Lake City, Utah for UFC 291 on July 29. – the above-mentioned, White laid out multiple main card fights, including a middleweight pairing of Costa and former Brave CF staple, Aliskerov.

Addressing Costa’s future with the promotion during an interview with AgFight, White confirmed that Costa would be fighting Aliskerov in July at UFC 291 as well as confirming how the Brazilian had agreed terms on a new contract, leading to a response from Paulo Costa himself.

Khamzat Chimaev hits out at Paulo Costa UFC 291 I want to kill this guy

Undefeated welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev has predicted a loss for one-time middleweight championship challenger, Paulo Costa at UFC 291 in July – as the Brazilian draws a soon-to-be common foe, Dana White’s Contender Series alum, Ikram Aliskerov.

Chimaev, the current #4 ranked welterweight contender, has been linked with a return to the Octagon at UFC 294 in October on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE – and particulary, rumored to be close to a fight against either former welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, or the above-mentioned, Costa.

As for the Belo Horizonte native, Costa recently agreed terms on a new contract with the UFC earlier this year, and is set to begin the first fight on that new multi-fight deal at UFC 291 at the Delta Center on July 29. – taking on incoming common-opposition, Aliskerov.

A product of Dana White’s Contender Series back in September of last year, Aliskerov improved to 14-1 with a first round KO win over Phil Hawes at UFC 288 back in May of this year in his Octagon bow.

Suffering just a single professional loss, Aliskerov’s sole professional defeat came in the form of a 2019 knockout loss to the previously noted, Chimaev when both competed under the Brave CF banner.

Khamzat Chimaev takes firm aim at UFC rival, Paulo Costa

Sharing his thoughts on the pairing this summer, Chimaev, who has taken umbrage with recent comments made about him by Costa – predicted a defeat for the Brazilian against Aliskerov at UFC 291.

“Paulo (Costa) has like, spoken a lot of sh*t about me,” Khamzat Chimaev said on his YouTube channel. “That guy, I want to smash him. I want to kill this guy. I was doing a lot of things and he wants to fight with the other guy [Ikram Aliskerov]. The guy, I fought him a long time before. Three or four years ago, before UFC. I win against the guy.”

“I think the guy (Aliskerov) will beat him (Costa) as well,” Khamzat Chimaev explained. “Paulo is not good. He’s sh*t, bro.  He just talks too much. He beat nobody. A close fight with (Yoel) Romero, only fighter he wins against. Other people, I don’t know. Nobody knows these guys. I don’t know who he beat.” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Dustin Poirier claims rematch with Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 is the most violent fight at lightweight

Former interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier has claimed his incoming UFC 291 rematch with fellow former interim gold holder, Justin Gaethje should be considered as the “most violent” matchup possible at the weight limit today.

Poirier, the current #2 ranked lightweight contender, has been sidelined since he landed a stunning third round submission win over common-foe, Michael Chandler, stopping the Missouri veteran with a rear-naked choke last November at Madison Square Garden.

For Gaethje, the Arizona veteran rebounded to the winner’s enclosure at UFC 286 back in March in a co-main event win over Rafael Fiziev in a close, majority decision success.

First sharing the Octagon with each other at UFC Fight Night Glendale back in 2018 in a main event clash, Poirier continued his roughshod run to an interim title win with an eventual fourth round doctor’s stoppage TKO win over Gaethje.

Slated to rematch the fan-favorite finisher in the main event of UFC 291 in July with BMF championship spoils on the line for the victor, Poirier claims himself and Gaethje should be competing for a “most violent” fighter moniker.

“Just look at the bonuses, the Fight of the Nights and the carnage that me and [Justin Gaethje] display in there,” Dustin Poirier told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “It makes sense to have something fun like that. We’re always talking about the lightweight most violent fighter. I said I completed the triangle by beating him, beating (Eddie) Alvarez, beating (Michael) Chandler, beating Conor (McGregor), so we run it back for the most violent – call it the BMF, call it whatever you want.”

Dustin Poirier believes Justin Gaethje is still as reckless as ever

As for how a fight with Gaethje will play out in the summer, Poirier claimed that he will be able to find his shots once more against the former, describing himself as a “matador” to Gaethje’s proverbial bull.

“I still see me being a matador, and touching this guy,” Dustin Poirier said. “Now he just does it [gets into a car crash fight] with his seat belt on.”

Dana White defends return of the BMF title at UFC 291 everybody wants that belt

UFC president, Dana White has defended the return of the controversial BMF championship – previously held by Jorge Masvidal, claiming “everybody” under the promotion’s banner wants to clinch the symbolic championship, ahead of its return at UFC 291 in July.

The championship, which was introduced into the promotion back in November 2019, was scheduled to feature just once inside the Octagon – with the victor of a Madison Square Garden clash between welterweight alums, Masvidal, and Nate Diaz competing for the one-and-done crown.

Securing a fourth round doctor’s stoppage TKO victory over Stockton veteran Diaz in New York in the main event of UFC 244, Masvidal managed to mint himself as the inaugural – and purported one-and-only BMF champion, before going on to drop four consecutive losses since winning the symbolic title.

However, given the Miami native’s retirement from mixed martial arts competition back in April following UFC 287, White has confirmed the title is once more up for grabs – and will take center stage between former interim lightweight champions, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje during their long-awaited rematch at UFC 291 on July 29. in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The BMF belt will be on the line once more at UFC 291 in July

Receiving criticizm for the inclusion of the symbolic title in the much-anticipated rematch of Poirier and Gaethje, White has defended the reintroduction of the symbolic belt, claiming everybody wants to clinch it.

“(Jorge) Masvidal retired so we put the BMF belt up,” Dana White told assembled media following UFC Vegas 73. “You have no idea how many of these fighters want to fight for the BMF title. They all want to fight for that belt, so, it’s fun, it’s different. So, we’ll do it again.”

“I mean, when you think about coming up with it the first time, those two were the right guys,” Dana White explained. “So, are these [Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje]. These are the two right guys for that, too. Whether that things in play or not in play, that fight is what it is. But everybody wants that belt, so, what the hell?” [H/T Essentially Sports]

Alex Pereira opens as betting underdog to beat Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291

Slated to make his long-anticipated light heavyweight move in July of this year at UFC 291, former undisputed middleweight champion, Alex Pereira has initially opened as what may come as a surprising betting underdog to defeat fellow former champion, Jan Blachowicz.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, dropped his status as division pacesetter back in April of this year, suffering a second round KO loss to common-foe, Israel Adesanya

As for Polish veteran, Blachowicz, the former KSW champion to boot, most recently headlined UFC 283 back in December, fighting Russian contender, Magomed Ankalaev, fighting the latter to a majority decision draw in the pair’s vacant light heavyweight title fight.

Himself sharing the Octagon with Nigerian-Kiwi striker, Adesanya back in 2021, Blachowicz successfully defended his light heavyweight title against the City Kickboxing mainstay – handing the former his first professional mixed martial arts loss to boot.

Alex Pereira opens as a betting underdog ahead of his UFC 291 return

And ahead of his impending 205lbs leap this summer on a stacked UFC 291 main card in Salt Lake City, Utah, Alex Pereira has opened as a surprising betting underdog (+130) against Blachowicz – with the Pole opening as a favorite (-110).

If you require assistance with how to bet on UFC fights – a host of websites and support agencies can help you gamble and wager responsibly to boot, weather you decide to bet on outright winners, or a host other popular prop bets.

Boasting an undefeated UFC tenure before his April knockout loss to Adesanya – whom he holds three other victories over in their long-standing combat sports rivalry, Pereira made a massive Octagon splash in a 2021 debut.

Landing at Madison Square Garden under the UFC banner, Alex Pereira made lightwork of Andreas Michailidis with a devastating second round knee KO victory, before taking a decision win over the battle-tested compatriot, Bruno Silva.

Earning his November title fight with Adesanya, Sao Paulo striker, Alex Pereira would then dispatch Sean Strickland with a one-sided first round KO triumph during International Fight Week, before snatching the title at the same venue as his promotional bow just 12 months into his stay with the UFC.

Scooping vacant light heavyweight gold in Abu Dhabi, UAE back in 2020, Blachowicz would land his own stunning KO win over Californian striker, Dominick Reyes, before racking up his one and only successful title defense in a decision win over Adesanya.

Rebounding from a title loss to Brazilian veteran, Glover Teixeira – a teammate of Alex Pereira, Blachowicz would secure a TKO victory over Aleksandar Rakic in a main event bracket, after the Austrian contender suffered a knee injury.

Poised to make a siege toward gold currently held by Dana White’s Contender Series product, Jamahal Hill before the close of this year, a victory for either underdog, Alex Pereira, or current favorite, Blachowicz would go a long way in ensuring either cement their status as number one contender in an emerging light heavyweight top-pack.

UFC 291 takes place on July 29. from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a lightweight rematch between former interim champions, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje slated to take main event honors.
