Suggesting the UFC will likely follow through and offer former two-time middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya a title rematch off the back of their first fight – newly-minted division champion, Sean Strickland has claimed he expects a more better showing from the former if they share the Octagon again.

Strickland, who headlined UFC 293 earlier this month, managed to strike the undisputed middleweight championship with a shocking upset win over City Kickboxing ace, Adesanya, scoring a shutout unanimous decision win over the latter to win the championship.

And in the immediate aftermath of his championship win in Sydney, Australia, Strickland was linked to a title re-run with the Nigerian-Kiwi striker in his first attempted title defense – something he believes the UFC will offer the ex-titleholder.

“It was a good time, you guys,” Sean Strickland said on his podcast. “It was a good time. I like fighting. I like to hit [people]. I like to fight, I give 110 per cent, it was good. I thought Izzy (Israel Adesanya) would be better. I’m sure the UFC might give him a rematch and he might take it a little bit more seriousn and put up a better fight.”

“My thing is, dude, when it comes to that next fight, everybody’s like, ‘Who do you want to fight?’ I don’t give a f*ck, dude,” Sean Strickland explained. “I want to make f*cking money. I get those pay-per-view buys. Give me somebody who’s going to make f*cking money. I don’t want to fight anybody boring. I want to fight, you know, give me someone who’s making money.” 

As for Adesanya, the former champion has since landed himself in hot water off the back of his title loss, pleading guilty to a drunk driving charge in Auckland, after he tested over the legal limit of blood alcohol levles, three weeks prior to his title fight with Strickland

Ahead of his own Octagon comeback next month at UFC 294, surging welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev has showered praise on newly-minted undisputed middleweight champion, Sean Strickland – claiming the Covina native “deserves” every part of his title reign.

Chimaev, the current number four ranked welterweight contender, may see himself vying for middleweight division spoils in the near future, making a divisional return at UFC 294 next month in a potential title-eliminator opposite one-time championship chaser, Paulo Costa in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Sharing his thoughts on Strickland’s unlikely ascension to the middleweight throne, AllStars MMA staple, Chimaev heaped paise on the former, crediting his work ethic to his current run atop the division.

“He works hard, he deserves it,” Khamzat Chimaev said of Sean Strickland on his official YouTube channel. “The guy is always in the gym. Now he got the belt. He has a good coach, good team. I’ve been there training with that guy. They deserve that belt. He has been active, fights with everybody.”

Israel Adesanya pleads guilty to drink driving ahead of UFC 293 title loss to Sean Strickland I want to apologize

Former two-time undisputed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving in Auckland, New Zealand earlier today, after he was charged with operating a motor vehicle, whilst 37 milligrams over the legal 50 milligram of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood limit. 

Adesanya, a former two-time middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, headlined the promotion’s return to Sydney, Australia at the beginning of this month, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Sean Strickland at the Qudos Bank Arena in a return ‘Down Under’.

And per an initial report from the New Zealand Herald tonight, court documents obtained told how City Kickboxing striker, Adesanya, was charged with driving a vehicle on Wellesley Street in Auckland Central, New Zealand, submitting an evidentiary blood test which returned a 87 millilitres of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood level. 

Israel Adesanya issues apology to his family and team amid drink driving offense

Commenting on his charge and subsequent guilty plea at Auckland District Court this morning, Nigerian-Kiwi mixed martial artist, Adesanya issued an apology, before describing his behavior as unacceptable.

“I want to apologise to the community, my family, and my team for the decision I made to get behind the wheel after drinking at dinner,” Israel Adesanya told the New Zealand Herald. 

“I was pulled over and gave an evidentiary blood test – the reading was 87 millilitres of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood,” Israel Adesanya continued. “I am disappointed with my decision to drive, it was wrong. I know that people follow me and I want them to know I do not think this behavior is acceptable. 

The maximum penalty Adesanya can face is a fine of $4,500, or three months behind bars, in relation to the alleged offense which is said to have taken place on August 19. last. 

Karl Trotter, Adesanya’s legal representative sought a no-conviction plea in relation to the offense, which was subsequently granted by the sitting judge.

“That belt is just a nice accessory,” Israel Adesanya explained. “I’ve already got belts, I have many belts. I’m just going to do it again. Just for for – just for fun.” 

Reflecting on his shocking upset loss to Covina native, Strickland at UFC 293, Adesanya described the bout as a “bad dream” – claiming he was unable to set up any of his offensive action throughout the five round back-and-forth.

Sean Strickland drank his own urine after UFC 293 title win over Israel Adesanya

Newly-minted undisputed middleweight champion, Sean Strickland has shockingly revealed that following his stunning UFC 293 title victory against rival, Israel Adesanya earlier this month – he somehow managed to drink a cup of his own urine.

Strickland, the incumbent middleweight titleholder, managed to turn in one of the biggest upset victories in the history of the UFC, defeating former two-time divisional champion, Adesanya with a stunning unanimous decision win at UFC 293 earlier this month in Sydney, Australia. 

And already pegged to defend his championship in an immediate title rematch against City Kickboxing staple, Adesanya next, Strickland has hit the headlines in abundance since winning the undisputed crown.

Just three days removed from his title win, Strickland revealed he broke a panel on his championship belt, which he elected to attempt to repair with some makeshift alterations in the form of some duct tape.

Furthermore, footage emerged of the hugely outspoken Covina native, Strickland chasing Monster Energy rep, Hans Molenkamp around a gym – all whilst armed with a fully functional flamethrower – which was lighting at the time.

And now, after further video evidence showed Strickland stabbing a heavy bag in a bid to teach viewers how to stab somebody, the newly crowned middleweight champion revealed he somehow drank his own urine after his title win at UFC 293.

“Back to your normal programing… my brain “Sean make sure you throw way that coffee cup in your car you pissed in so you don’t forget,”” Sean Strickland posted on his official X account. “The next day “Goddamnit I drank the wrong cup.” The moral of the story here is throw away the piss cups or you might accidentally drink it.” 

Whilst linked with a title fight rematch against Adesanya next, Strickland has also received a title fight call out from the surging number one ranked contender, Dricus du Plessis, as well as former foe, Jared Cannonier, who holds a win over Strickland.
