Arman Tsarukyan defeats Charles Oliveira in razor thin split decision victory UFC 300 Highlights

Surging Armenian contender, Arman Tsarukyan continues his route to a title fight rematch against incumbent gold holder, Islam Makhachev on the main card of UFC 300 tonight — turning in a split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) win over former undisputed lightweight champion and fan-favorite, Charles Oliveira.

Tsarukyan, fresh from a December win over common-foe, Beneil Dariush in the pair’s UFC Fight Night Austin main event, stopped the Iranian-born veteran with a first round knockout, after Oliveira had finished the former back in June of last year in a first round ground strikes TKO success.

And finding himself in immediate danger against the most prolific finisher in Octagon antiquity, Arman Tsarukyan fought from an arm-in guillotine choke against against Oliveira to survive the opening round.

However, slicing through Oliveira in the second frame, Tsarukyan bloodied the Brazilian in a close fight, with the Sao Paulo finisher rallying the third and final round.

Finding himself on the receiving end of another takedown from Tsarukyan in the third round, Oliviera almost locked up a D’Arce choke submission the final thirty seconds of the bout, before running out of time — and dropping his second loss in his three most recent outings.

Following his win, Tsarukyan called for a title fight rematch with the above-mentioned, Makhachev — in a re-run of their 2015 showdown.

However, turning in another wrestling-heavy approach in the second round, Nickal took Brundage down once more at the fence, and after failing in an attempt to set up an arm-triangle submission attempt, the former eventually locked up a rear-naked choke win — scoring his third consecutive Octagon win to boot.

Former undisputed light heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka once more turned in a rallying win tonight en route to success in his featured preliminary clash against Serbian contender, Aleksandar Rakic — landing a second round ground strikes TKO win over his fellow European in the pair’s grudge match at UFC 300.

Czech Republic native, Prochazka, a former undisputed light heavyweight titleholder, Prochazka, has been sidelined since last November, suffering a second round TKO loss to Alex Pereira in the pair’s vacant title fight at Madison Square Garden.

As for Rakic, the Serb had been sidelined since 2022, suffering a catastrophic knee injury en route to a TKO defeat against former undisputed champion, Jan Blachowicz.

And causing Jiri Prochazka massive trouble tonight in the pair’s potential title-eliminator at UFC 300, Rakic shut down the lead leg for the Czech light heavyweight contender with a slew of slamming low kick, appearing to severely mitigating his movement.

However, in the second round, former UFC and Rizin FF champion, Prochazka waded into the fire with Rakic time and time again, eventually finding the button on the American Top Team striker, sending him reeling and eventually to the canvas.

And in a messy scramble on the ground, Prochazka prevailed with a slew of ground strikes, forcing a stoppage win — before setting his sights on the victor of tonight’s main event title fight between former foe, Pereira, and incoming headliner, Jamahal Hill.

Harrison, an alum of the PFL (Professional Fighters League) — twice won lightweight tournament spoils under the banner of the Donn Davis-led banner, before making her Octagon bow tonight against future Hall of Fame inductee, Holm as part of a massive UFC 300 card.

And making lightwork of boxing Hall of Fame star, Holm, Ohio native, Kayla Harrison turned in a patented throw takedown on the New Mexico veteran after skewing herself on bottom momentarily.

Dominating and remaining on top in the opening round, Harrison again threw Holm to the mat in dominant fashion in the early exchanges of the second round, this time wrapping up a one-sided submission victory via rear-naked choke over the number five ranked bantamweight — in her divisional debut, no less.

And in the immediate aftermath of her victory, Harrison vowed to hold the bantamweight championship by the end of the year — calling for a clash with incumbent gold holder, Raquel Pennington, or former gold holder, Julianna Peña — who is expected to compete for spoils next.
