Charles Oliveira echoes calls for Conor McGregor fight after UFC 300 you're putting too much money in your bank

Earlier this week, former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira’s head coach, Diego Lima confirmed how if afforded the opportunity, his student would accept an immediate turnaround against Conor McGregor after his return at UFC 300. And the Brazilian himself has backed up those claims, citing the chance to make a lucrative payday for himself.

Oliveira, the current number one ranked lightweight contender and former undisputed division champion, is slated to make his return at UFC 300 next weekend in an officially billed lightweight title-eliminator against surging contender, Arman Tsarukyan.

Sidelined since last June, Sao Paulo finisher, Charles Oliveira most recently returned to the winner’s enclosure with a blistering first round ground strikes TKO win over perennial contender, Beneil Dariush – snapping the Iranian’s impressive winning streak.

And meeting with Armenian challenger, Tsarukyan in a high-profile title-eliminator next weekend on the main card of UFC 300, Oliveira’s head coach, the above-mentioned, Lima claimed that if offered the chance, his student would most likely accept a fight with former champion, McGregor before a lightweight title charge against past-foe, Islam Makhachev.

“It would be great to fight (Conor) McGregor,” Diego Lima said. “Professionally speaking, [fighting McGregor[ would be incredible. If we had the opportunity to fight McGregor at welterweight after this fight [with Arman Tsarukyan], we would fight McGregor. But how abou the belt. OK, we’ll fight the belt after that, God willing. But we know that with McGregor, the creature has become bigger than the creator.”

“We know that if the opportunity came, McGregor already considered this fight – if we really had this opportunity, that’s the one we want,” Lima explained.

And echoing his coach’s claims, Oliveira cited the chance to land a significant fight pursue for himself as the reason for entertaining a fight with McGregor before a chance to reclaim his lightweight crown.

“I would absolutely go with Conor (McGregor) because of the money,” Charles Oliveira told MMA Fighting. “Everything has to be discussed. When you sit at the table, and there’s a contract, you say, ‘Ok, cool, I want this win. Am I next in line with a win?’ … You’re putting way too much money in your bank account to live a good live, and then you’re fighting for the title. It doesn’t make any difference.”

Justin Gaethje calls for massive rise in pay at UFC 300 I'm hoping this card brings $300,000 bonuses

Post-fight bonus king, Justin Gaethje has made his feelings clear on the usual $50,000 pay for fighters who are judged to have turned in both Fight of the Night or Performance of the Night bonuses following their clashes – and hopes next weekend’s UFC 300 card brings a huge increase of $250,000 to fighters who land post-fight bonuses.

Gaethje, a former interim lightweight champion, returns to the Octagon in search of his first defense of the symbolic BMF title, as he takes on former featherweight titleholder, Max Holloway in the Hawiian’s sophomore outing at 155lbs.

Sidelined since July of last year, Arizona striker, Gaethje won the symbolic crown with a hellacious second round win over fellow former interim champion, Dustin Poirier, finishing the Lafayette native in the pair’s long-anticipated rematch.

And hoping to land a championship fight in November against either trio of Islam Makhachev, Charles Oliveira, or Arman Tsarukyan should he beat the aforementioned, Holloway in their main card fight, Gaethje called for a huge increase to post-fight bonus pay at UFC 300 – in the form of $300,000 checks from the organization.

An avid victor of post-fight bonuses – with 12 post-fight bonuses to be exact, Gaethje, who claimed he was the best fighter on the roster to cause damage, issued a grisly prediction of his fight with Holloway – which included lacerations and potential limb fractures.

Justin Gaethje opens as betting favorite to beat Max Holloway in BMF title fight at UFC 300

“I have a lot of respect for Max (Holloway),” Justin Gaethje told MMA Junkie. “If I can cut his eye, break his arm, cause him to not be able to walk anymore, that sounds like an ideal situation for me rather than putting him to sleep.”

“But I know he’s going to be trying to knock me out, so I will have no hard feelings to myself, to anything, if I do put him to sleep,” Justin Gaethje continued.

UFC backed to bring new Octagon canvas color for UFC 300 as bookies eye gold coloured mat

Ahead of next weekend’s monumental UFC 300 card in Las Vegas, the usual grey colored mat has come under massive speculation once more for the promotion’s massive pay-per-view card, with a yellow/gold canvas colour the current betting favorite to feature beneath the fighters in Nevada.

Returning to a pay-per-view schedule following UFC Vegas 90 this weekend, the Octagon touches down at almost-home base, T-Mobile Arena again, for a staggering UFC 300 flagship event.

Featuring a main event between undisputed light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira against the returning, Jamahal Hill in a championship offing – the 205 pound clash features at the final of three ‘championship’ pairings in Nevada.

A gold coloured Octagon canvas is backed for UFC 300

And according to the bookies, the usual grey coloured Octagon canvas is likely to be brought backstage in favor of a returning yellow/gold coloured canvas – for the first time a massive UFC 200 card back in 2016, with odds of +118 available currently.

For fans hoping to land money on a host of big-cash bets on the fights next weekend at UFC 300, online casino games at Jackpot Sounds can also offer punters some of the biggest chances to land considerable payouts during the huge festivities during fight week and the UFC Fan Expo in ‘Sin City’.

As mentioned above, the promotion sported a unique yellow/gold coloured Octagon canvas for their similarly monumental UFC 200 card back in 2016, in a switch from their usual greyed colour landing – on a night which saw the likes of legends, Jim Miller, T.J. Dillashaw, Cain Velasquez, Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar, Daniel Cormier, Anderson Silva, Brock Lesnar, and Amanda Nunes all grace throughout the night.

And as well as Pereira’s massive title fight headliner with Hill, a historic title fight also features on the main card – with the first-ever all-Chinese championship pairing set for the event, with Zhang Weili tackling compatriot, Yan Xiaonan in a strawweight tangle.

Furthermore, a stacked main card will also play host to a title-eliminator between former lightweight kingpin, Charles Oliveira, and Arman Tsarukyan, while fan-favorite strikers, Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway share the Octagon in a symbolic BMF championship fight – in a bout which is sure to bring countless fireworks to UFC 300.

Seated amongst the massive talent on both the late and early preliminary cards come the likes of former champions, Jiri Prochazka, Cody Garbrandt, Deiveson Figuiredo, Aljamain Sterling, Holly Holm – while two-time Olympic gold medal winner, Kayla Harrison is booked for her massive UFC debut.

Justin Gaethje

Initially planning a stunning homecoming just less than a month later at UFC 301 in his native Brazil should he dispatch event headliner, Hill with ease next weekend at UFC 300, Sao Paulo knockout ace, Pereira has been warned by the Illinois native that the judges should consider packing up and leaving before the main event begins, as their services won’t be required regardless.

UFC 300 will come as Hill’s first outing in over a year, with the Dana White’s Contender Series alum sidelined since last summer due to a nasty ruptured achilles injury.

As the Ultimate Fighting Championship closes in on its massive UFC 300 card in Las Vegas, broadcasting details regarding the historic event are beginning to emerge.

UFC 300 is scheduled to feature 13 epic fights with 12 current or former world champions set to take center stage — none bigger than Alex Pereira who puts his light heavyweight championship on the line against ex-titleholder Jamahal Hill in the 205-pound headliner.

UFC 300

Being touted as the biggest card in the promotion’s 30+ year history, it should come as no surprise that the UFC is busting out its A-team for the impending broadcast. UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik will be at the helm according to a report from MMA Fighting. Joining him will be longtime color commentator Joe Rogan and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier.

UFC 300 broadcast team

As expected, the “Veteran Voice of the Octagon” Bruce Buffer will handle fighter walkouts and official announcements. Joining the broadcast will be the UFC’s chief roving reporter, Megan Olivi, handling backstage duties. Former fighter Din Thomas will also be on hand to offer up his unique take on the action from time to time.

At the analyst desk will be three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen and top-10 ranked 205’er Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith. They will be joined by Boxing icon Teddy Atlas to offer their take on the night’s action.

Chael Sonnen will be part of the UFC 300 broadcast

In addition to UFC 300’s light heavyweight title scrap, fans inside T-Mobile Arena and those watching around the world will also see reigning strawweight champion Zhang Weili put her title on the line in an all-Chinese clash with Yan Xiaonan in the evening’s co-main event.

And in a fight appropriately dubbed as “the people’s main event,” BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje puts his bragging rights belt on the line against former 145-pound king Max Holloway.

Jamahal Hill teases heavyweight super clash with Tom Aspinall after UFC 300 I'd like that fight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is interested in moving up to heavyweight to secure a fight with Tom Aspinall.

Aspinall is the current interim heavyweight champion and is without a fight. However, Hill is booked to face Alex Pereira at UFC 300 for the light heavyweight title next weekend. It’s Hill’s first fight since he tore his Achilles, and entering the bout, he has full confidence he will get his and raised.

If Hill can become the champion again, he hints at a potential move up to heavyweight in the future for a superfight with Tom Aspinall as he knows he has a heavyweight frame.

Jamahal Hill's early return from injury at UFC 300 could prove disastrous: 'He tore his Achilles clean off'

“I usually walk around maybe like 240 [pounds]. I’m 240 right now, bro. Bro, I’m trying to tell you, bro, I’m a big boy. I’m a big dog. It’s possible. It’s possible, bro,” Jamahal Hill said to GiveMeSport… “I like that fight. I like that fight. Tom’s a great fighter. I’d have fun, I’d have fun fighting against him.”

On paper, Hill vs Aspinall would be a fun fight as both are strikers who would like to stand-and-trade, but both are technical as well. But, before that can happen, Hill needs to get past Pereira and reclaim the light heavyweight title that he vacated after his injury.

Jamahal Hill believes his power would translate to heavyweight

Although Jamahal Hill is focused on the light heavyweight division and his fight against Alex Pereira, the thought of moving to heavyweight is there.

Tom Aspinall

Hill is confident he would have success at heavyweight as he says his power would translate well and would allow him to have plenty of success.

“What the f*** is a power advantage? The game is, it doesn’t matter who is more powerful. What it comes down to is who’s going to hit who first, but we both got power. You can be a thousand times more powerful than me. I hit you first. What does that mean? That’s game,” Hill said.

When Hill will make the move to heavyweight, if he ever will is to be seen.

Kayla Harrison reveals mental hurdle caused doubts about making bantamweight at UFC 300

Former PFL women’s lightweight champion Kayla Harrison will be dropping 20lbs to lightweight to face Holly Holm in her promotional debut at UFC 300.

It was revealed that Harrison had signed with the UFC and she would make her debut at UFC 300 against the former champ in Holm. It was a massive fight for her, but the bigger story was the fact that she would be dropping down to bantamweight, which Harrison says was a mental hurdle for her.

“To their credit, they did not beat around the bush,” Harrison told MMA Junkie of the UFC’s negotiation. “It was very clear that if you want to fight here, this is the weight you’re going to fight at, and that was a big mental hurdle for me to get through – just figure out: Can I do this? Is this what I want to do? It’s hard, because most people don’t realize that I’ve been training two-a-day since I was 12 years old.

“There was definitely a piece of me that was like, ‘F*ck that. You’ve done enough. Why would you spend the last part of your career cutting an extra 10 pounds? Like, why?’ Then there was another part piece of me that was like, ‘Well, we grow at the edges of our comfort zone, and this is you being all in. It doesn’t get much harder than this. You’re cutting to a new weight class, you’re fighting in the promotion, and you’re fighting the legend. This is it. You’re either all in or not in.’ I liked that, and I think that brings out the best version of me,” Harrison added.

Kayla Harrison not worried about depleting herself

Despite Kayla Harrison cutting down more weight, she doesn’t expect that will impact her chin or strength. Instead, she has confidence she will be able to compete at her best and secure a win over Holm.

Kayla Harrison odds released on future bantamweight title win ahead of UFC 300 by end of 2024

“I don’t think I’m going to lose anything,” Harrison said. “I think we’re going to see the best version of me. I’ve been disciplined. I’ve been dedicated. I haven’t skipped any steps. I haven’t left a stone unturned. My team is all in, I’m all in, my family’s all in, and I think I’m about to shine really f*cking bright.”

If Harrison can get past Holm, the Olympic gold medalist could get a title shot at 135lbs next time out.
