Over $30,000 of Arman Tsarukyan's fight purse withheld by NSAC following viral fan incident at UFC 300

Arman Tsarukyan is facing disciplinary action following an altercation with a fan at UFC 300.

As ‘Ahalkalakets’ made his way to the Octagon for his main card clash with former lightweight world champion Charles Oliveira at the landmark event in Las Vegas, Tsarukyan engaged in a brief scuffle with a fan in the crowd. Video of the incident quickly made its way online, showing the 155-pound contender throwing a punch at someone seated near the entryway.

“He showed me ‘F*ck you’ and he wanted to punch me and I wanted to punch him back,” Tsarukyan explained at the post-fight press conference. “That’s it. So guys, no one show me ‘F*ck you.’ It doesn’t matter who you are, I’m going to punch you in the face.”

Unfortunately, it looks like Tsarukyan’s physical retaliation is going to cost him.

Per a report from Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, Tsarukyan’s fight purse was $158,000, of which 20% — or $31,600 — is being withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission until a full disciplinary hearing can be held in May. In addition to a potential fine, ‘Ahalkalakets’ could also face suspension by the NSAC.

The commission did note that the fan involved in the incident opted not to press charges and has also made it clear that he has no intention of suing the UFC.

Arman Tsarukyan isn’t the only fighter facing disciplinary action following UFC 300

Before Arman Tsarukyan’s viral incident, Diego Lopes delivered a highlight-reel knockout on the night, dispatching Sodiq Yusuff in the opening round of their preliminary bout.

Lopes walked away with $100,000, but $5,000 of that is now being withheld by the NSAC after Lopes hopped over the Octagon wall to greet UFC CEO Dana White — something he was specifically advised not to do.

The NSAC commissioner claims that White permitted Lopes to exit the cage and that the UFC CEO allegedly said, “I will pay his fine.”

The commission will review video evidence of each incident, specifically the incident with Tsarukyan, before levying a decision on both matters.

Justin Gaethje ruled from future fight with Islam Makhachev after UFC 300 He was the biggest threat to us

Following his spectacular defeat to Max Holloway at UFC 300 earlier this month, any chances that Justin Gaethje will fight Islam Makhachev for the lightweight crown in the future have been axed by head coach, Javier Mendez, who admitted the former was likely the biggest “threat” to the Russian’s title reign.

Gaethje, a former interim lightweight champion, featured as the first of three ‘championship’ fights at UFC 300 earlier this month, taking on former featherweight kingpin, Holloway in the pair’s symbolic BMF title fight.

And en route to a comfortable decision loss to the Hawaiian, Gaethje was flattened with a single second remaining in the fifth round of their UFC 300 clash, resulting in a harrowing buzzer-beating knockout defeat.

As for Makhachev, the current pound-for-pound number one fighter on the promotion’s books, is slated to headline UFC 302 in June in New Jersey, taking on soon-to-be common-foe, Dustin Poirier in an undisputed lightweight title fight.

And off the back of his defeat, Gaethje – who plans an extended break away from active competition, has been ruled from a fight with Makhachev in the future, by the Russian’s head coach – who admitted the Arizona native was likely going to pose the biggest difficulty to the reign of the American Kickboxing Academy product.

Justin Gaethje claims he's not done after UFC 300 loss to Max Holloway I will fight in the future

“Yeah to me, the guy – out of all the guys that I thought was stylistically very dangerous, out of all of them, I thought it was Justin Gaethje,” Javier Mendez said on his podcast. “Stylistically, because of his wrestling pedigree, you know. And his striking is really good, [he’s] strong.”

“It’s all apples and oranges, right,” Mendez explained. “Everybody brings a different skillset, so I thought he was the biggest threat for us. And now, he’s probably never going to be in the picture for us, going forward. No need to talk about him as a threat because he’s never going to be there anymore, I don’t think.”

Who would have won in a lightweight title fight: Islam Makhachev or Justin Gaethje?

Paddy Pimblett scoffs at fight with Bobby Green after UFC 300 he has no followers he needs me

Paddy Pimblett has always been a target in the lightweight division, and after UFC 300, a few new faces are calling for a fight with ‘The Baddy’.

Riding a seven-fight win streak, including five UFC victories, Pimblett is still on an upward trajectory. While fans were sorely disappointed in his performance against Jared Gordon at UFC 282, ‘The Baddy’ had a decent bounce-back fight against the wizened legend Tony Ferguson.

Now, as the aftermath of UFC 300 unfolds, new fighters wish to try their luck against Pimblett and maybe even steal his shine. The Baddy’ is hip to this, though, and even explains this on his YouTube channel, where he responded to Bobby Green and Renato Moicano’s callouts from UFC 300.

Paddy Pimblett opens up about UFC 300 callouts and makes his intentions clear

While Paddy Pimblett won’t shy away from a fight with Bobby Green, he did make it pretty clear that he is much more interested in Renato Moicano as an opponent. It does make sense. While electric, Green is at the end of his prime, and a win over him won’t really justify the risk of a potential loss against the man.

Moicano, however, is a different story. While he would surely prove to be a more dangerous opponent, a loss against him wouldn’t look as bad as one at the hands of an aging Bobby Green. So, Pimblett would make his intentions clear in his video and set the stage for what will surely be an exciting fight.

“As you know, UFC 300, everybody wants a slice of ‘The Baddy,’” Paddy Pimblett began (H/T MMA Fighting). “Bobby Green screamed my name on the mic after it. Didn’t surprise me, know what I mean? He might be ranked, but he’s got no followers, and he needs me. Just like everyone else, they want to fight me because they know I’m the boy. Bobby Green’s an option. If Bobby Green wants to fight, I’m there.”

“I’d rather fight my boy, Moicano,” Paddy Pimblett continued. “Where you at, Renato? I don’t even dislike Renato Moicano. I actually like him. He’s a funny guy. He’s a cool dude. So me and him having a fight would be hilarious. The buildup to that fight would be very, very funny. I think it’d be even funnier if me and him done a season of The Ultimate Fighter.”

“That’d be six, seven, eight weeks of pure comedy for the fans. So I would — I’d love that, to be honest. And I’d rather go right in at rank 10 rather than beating rank 15.”

Paddy Pimblett would echo this sentiment, concluding that while the Moicano fight intrigues him, his primary focus at this point is fighting upwards and continuing to rise.

“But, next for me is someone, obviously. Hopefully, it’s someone in the top 15,” Pimblett said. “I don’t want to fight down. I want to be trying to fight up, I want to try and get ranked.”

Alex Pereira unsure if his legacy is better than Israel Adesanya's I won two title he tried to

Unsure if his legacy in combat sports has already surpassed that of four-fight fight, Israel Adesanya despite his fleeting mixed martial arts run, Alex Pereira pointed to the fact that he managed to strike gold in two UFC divisions – whilst his rival failed in his attempt.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion, turned in his first successful defense of the light heavyweight throne at UFC 300 earlier this month, blasting through Jamahal Hill with a blistering opening round KO win in the pair’s headlining clash.

As for Adesanya, the City Kickboxing staple has been widely linked with a return as soon as August, in the form of a headliner at UFC 305 in Australia, welcoming a title grudge fight against current middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis.

Sidelined since last September, Adesanya set an unwanted record of dropping divisional gold for the second time in the space of a calendar year, in the form of an upset decision loss to Sean Strickland.

Welcoming the opportunity to fight for a heavyweight crown in a bid to become the first three-division champion to ever compete in the UFC, Pereira was asked if he believes his legacy in combat sports has already eclipsed that of Adesanya – and while pointing to his success in two divisions, admitted he wasn’t sure.

“Honestly, I don’t know, man,” Alex Pereira told Laerte Viana during a recent interview. “You have to see the criteria they use. (Israel) Adesanya made several defenses [of the middleweight title]. I couldn’t defend the middleweight belt.”

“But there are things I did – I was a double champion,” Alex Pereira explained. “He tried [to win a seond title] but didn’t. I’m not worried about that because I think it doesn’t matter what classification they give you. What matters is what you do and inspire people. And I think I’m doing it very well.”

Former interim lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje has confirmed plans to take a six-month hiatus from the Octagon at a minimum following his UFC 300 knockout loss to Max Holloway in the pair’s symbolic BMF title fight earlier this month.

Gaethje, the current number three ranked division contender, featured on the main card of UFC 300 earlier this month, taking on former featherweight champion, Holloway in defense of his symbolic BMF crown.

And en route to a rather comfortable decision loss to the Hawaiian favorite, Gaethje was summoned to the Octagon center with just 10 seconds remaining in the final frame – finding himself on the receiving end of a winning right hook counter from Holloway, felling him unconscious in brutal fashion.

“Metaphorically, I could be ready tomorrow, but physically, I do want to take care of myself,” Justin Gaethje told MMA Hangout during a recent interview. “I do think that repeated concussions, with me going to sleep like that, me receiving that shot, It would be foolish for me to jump back into training anytime before 180 days.”

“I think six months, at least, before I get back to taking shots,” Justin Gaethje explained. “But that doesn’t say that I won’t be training the whole time.”

Immediately shutting down suggestions of a retirement off the back of his knockout loss, Gaethje vowed to make a triumphant return, after heaping praise on the massive performance put in by Holloway – whom he openly admitted to feeling he would never stand opposite in a fight.

Jamahal Hill echoes calls for rematch fight with Alex Pereira He's gotta see me again

Staking his claim for a future re-run with undisputed light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira in the immediate aftermath of his one-sided UFC 300 knockout loss, Jamahal Hill has insisted that a rematch against the Brazilian is in both of their respective futures.

Hill, himself the first product of Dana White’s Contender Series to strike gold inside the Octagon, headlined UFC 300 earlier this month in his Octagon return, after suffering a ruptured achilles tendon injury in the summer of last year.

Suffering a blistering opening round knockout loss to the Sao Paulo striker, Hill was stopped with a massive counter shovel hook from the Brazilian – after landing an inadvertent groin striker, which he later denied

And already booked for his return, Illinois native is set to co-headline a high-profile UFC 303 card at the end of June during International Fight Week, taking on surging knockout artist, Khalil Rountree – in a potential title-decider, claiming he took “zero damage” against Pereira.

Vowing to even stop the former middleweight champion in a re-run if afforded the opportunity, Hill has claimed that a fight against him is most definitely in the future of Pereira.

“Honestly, for me, now it’s not even about the gold strap, it’s about getting back to that fight [with Alex Pereira],” Jamahal Hill told The Schmo during a recent interview. “I wanna fight Alex again, just because of the narrative surrounding it [the first fight]. I know what I was feeling in there, and I know what type of timing it’s really on whenever we step in there again.”

“I don’t care, all I know is that Jamahal ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill is in his future,” Jamahal Hill explained. For sure. Again. I don’t give a sh*t Schmo, if we gotta do it at 205 [pounds] or at heavyweight, he’s gotta see me again. That’s the only fight I care about.”

Welcoming the opportunity of a historic heavyweight division rise in search of a record-setting third title under the organizational banner, Sao Paulo striker, Pereira is currently dealing with a pair of toe fractures, however, has been linked with a UFC 304 return against Tom Aspinall at the end of July.
