Unbeaten bantamweight contender, Payton Talbott moves to 9-0 tonight on the preliminary card of UFC 303 — flattening Yanis Ghemmouri inside just 19-seconds with a hellacious knockout win.
Talbott, who made his third outing under the banner of the Dana White-led promotion tonight, had previously laid waste to both Nick Aguirre, and Cameron Saaiman — following a win on the Contender Series earlier in his career.
And with much scrutiny surrounding the 25-year-old prospect, Talbott improved to 9-0 tonight against Frenchman, Ghemmouri — courtesy of a stunning finish in the opening round.
Walking the former down early in the round, Talbott would miss with an initial flashing jab, before uncorking a massive straight right down the pipe of Ghemmouri, before following up with ground strikes after attempting to score a walk-off finish.
Following his victory, Talbott suggested a pairing with Adrian Yanez in his fourth appearance in the promotion, questioning if his status as a contender was actually granted.

Veteran strawweight pioneer, Michelle Waterson has called time on her storied career in mixed martial arts tonight — off the back of her defeat to grappling ace, Gillian Robertson at UFC 303 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Waterson, who entered tonight’s strawweight clash with Robertson boasting the number fourteen rank in the official 115lbs division — dropped a decision loss to the above-mentioned challenger, before closing the curtain on a stunning, storied 31-fight career in combat sports.
A veteran contender and perennial challenger at the strawweight limit inside the promotion, Michelle Waterson, a former Invicta FC atomweight champion, made her Octagon debut back in 2015, racking up quickfire submission wins over both Angela Magana and then Paige VanZant — the second of which in a UFC Fight Night Sacramento headliner.
Bowing out from her career in the midst of a five-fight skid, Waterson, who boasts an 18-13 professional record — including an impressive nine separate submission victories, has landed other notable wins over the likes of Jessica Penne, Yasuko Tamada, Angela Hill, and former title challenger, Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
Following her defeat, an emotional Waterson was consoled by UFC color-commentator, Joe Rogan — before calling time on her career, thanking her friends, and family for support — as well as heralding the fans who have followed her stored career in mixed martial arts.

Three-time foe of Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier – has backed the Dubliner to make a triumphant return to action – if he ever makes his comeback to the UFC, claiming the ex-champion will likely return in “dangerous” fashion.
McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined since he fractured his left tibia and fibula against Poirier three years ago, losing the pair’s trilogy rubber match in a doctor’s stoppage TKO loss.
And scheduled to return at UFC 303 tonight, McGregor was forced from a main event fight against would-be common-foe, Michael Chandler at the welterweight limit – confirming he had been sidelined once more, this time through a fractured toe on his left foot.
Dustin Poirier backs Conor McGregor to make “dangerous” return
However, sharing his thoughts on McGregor’s fighting future, Poirier – who was the subject of a nasty dig by the Dubliner at his fatherhood earlier this week, claimed he would return in “dangerous” fashion against Chandler.
“So, he (Conor McGregor) could be back quick or if he needs surgery, we’ll see,” Dustin Poirier told ESPN MMA. “Just looking at his career and the things he’s accomplished, the man has a strong mindset. If he commits himself to being the best he can, if his body allows him to be the best he can I think he’s gonna come back strong.”
“Do we see the vintage Conor McGregor? I’m not sure, but we’re going to see a very dangerous man who’s hungry for a win – and who needs a win, if he does come back,” Poirier explained.
Do you agree with Dustin Poirier’s take on the future of UFC star, Conor McGregor?
