Alex Pereira shows off 230lbs weight ahead of UFC 303 title fight tonight

Tipping the scales successfully for his light heavyweight title fight return tonight in Las Vegas, fan-favorite knockout artist, Alex Pereira has rehydrated ahead of his fight with Jiri Prochakza – piling on a massive 25lbs since his early-morning weigh-in.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion, and the current light heavyweight gold holder, headlines UFC 303 tonight against former-foe, Prochazka – taking on the Czech Republic finisher in a bid to land a second win over him and defend his crown for the second time successfully.

Alex Pereira shows off massive 25lbs weight gain ahead of UFC 303

Sidelined since April, Sao Paulo knockout king, Alex Pereira most recently headlined UFC 300 against the returning, Jamahal Hill – finishing the ex-champion with a blistering opening round knockout win.

And tipping the scales at 204.5lbs for his title fight with Prochazka yesterday morning in ‘Sin City’ – Pereira showed off a massive increase in weight today on his official Instagram Stories – weighing in at 230.1lbs ahead of tonight’s showdown at UFC 303.

FIrst fighting against Prochazka back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden, Brazilian star, Pereira landed the vacant light heavyweight title with a second round TKO win over the returning former titleholder, minting himself as a two-weight champion inside the promotion just two years into his tenure. 

Receiving fierce accusations from Prochazka earlier this week that he was using shamanistic practices and other “magic” to gain an advantage in his fights, Pereira claimed he had simply found his own spirits – encouraging Prochazka to do similar.

“Well, everybody has their own spirits,” Alex Pereirs said. “We’re not only made of flesh and bone, I’ve found mine. If he has not found his or if he does not believe, it’s not my fault.”

Michael Chandler claims Conor McGregor fight will happen quicker than people think UFC talks

Michael Chandler is set to appear at UFC 303 tomorrow night in ‘Sin City’ despite the cancellation of his clash with former duel-weight champion, Conor McGregor – and claims a grudge match between himself and the Dubliner will take place “quicker” than expected.

Chandler, the current number six ranked lightweight contender, was scheduled to headline UFC 303 tomorrow night during International Fight Week – taking on the previously mentioned, McGregor in a welterweight clash.

However, earlier this month, Chandler was officially removed from the card, with McGregor confirming how a fractured toe on his left foot had forced him to cancel his hiatus-snapping return – spanning three years.

And despite initially showing interest in a symbolic BMF championship fight with would-be common-foe, Max Holloway, MIssouri native, Chandler is set to play the waiting game on a fight with McGregor.

Providing an update on the status of his clash with the ex-champion in the future – amid claims from Dana White that McGregor would not feature earlier than October this year, Chandler, who is set to meet with organizational officials tonight, revealed the bout may come to fruition sooner than people expect.

“It’s a bittersweet weekend, but we’re having a good time, and we should hopefully be off hiatus quicker than people think,” Michael Chandler told John Morgan. “I’ll tell you what, I do love to fight, but I am a very patient man. And luckily, my life is such that I have done so many things outside of just fighting that I’ve been able to sit out, be patient, still got work outside fighting. [I] stayed busy the last year and a half, and this one didn’t come to fruition.”

“We’re gonna stay patient – we’re not gonna let him (Conor McGregor) off the hook,” Michael Chandler explained. “I like to say, ‘We’re not gonna let him off the hook.’ Talks are happening between me and the UFC, I’m meeting with them tonight actually. I know Conor is gonna be ready to come back soon, ‘cause it’s just a pinky toe {injury), so we’ll see.”

In the weeks since being turned into a meme, Hill has talked a pretty big game on his YouTube channel, telling Pereira that their paths will cross again, one way or another.

“Best of luck to you in your fight, in this rematch with Jiri,” Hill said addressing Pereira directly. “Because if you lose, I don’t give a f*ck if they offer me a title shot — it’s me and you. You win, I’m going to go starch the next guy and I’ll see you soon. You lose? I’ll see you real soon.”

Considering the strongly worded message he had for Pereira online, fans on social media were quick to drag Hill for offering ‘Poatan’ nothing more than a friendly handshake when standing face-to-face with the ‘Brazilian Boogeyman.’

Garry and Strickland took aim at each other on social media over the Irishman’s relationship with his wife. The two took personal shots at one another and many thought the two would eventually settle their differences inside the Octagon.

But, ahead of Ian Garry’s fight against Michael Page at UFC 303, the Irishman was asked about a potential fight with Sean Strickland but Garry shot it down.

“There’s nothing that needs to be discussed when it comes to Sean Strickland.” Ian Garry said to AgFight. “We need to leave him be, just let him go. I think he’s mentally unwell and having a breakdown publicly. We need to just leave him be.”

Ian Garry and Sean Strickland are separated by just one weight class, so in theory, a fight between the two is possible to make. But, Garry doesn’t have an interest in it, while Strickland has said he’s holding out for a title shot.

Although Page is a veteran and is coming off a solid win in his UFC debut, the Irishman says he doesn’t have any interest in the bout.

“I’m still not interested in it,” Garry said about the fight with Page on The MMA Hour. “I have no interest in it. I’ve told you. Here’s the way I look at it: I’m undefeated, I’ve beaten everybody put in front of me in the best way I believe I can and I go out there and I get my hand raised any way, shape and form possible. That is my job. When I do that, I fight up because my goal is to be the world champion…”

Ahead of his own return to combat sports in just weeks time, Nate Diaz already has sights set on an incoming return to the UFC, in the form of a trilogy rubber match against two-time foe, Conor McGregor – ideally at The Las Vegas Sphere in September at UFC 306.

Diaz, a former undisputed lightweight title challenger and victor of The Ultimate Fighter, will return to combat sports next month in ‘Sin City’ – taking on another former UFC star, Jorge Masvidal in a rematch of their 2019 fight at Madison Square Garden.

As for McGregor, the former duel-weight champion was slated to make his comeback this weekend at UFC 303 during International Fight Week, until a fractured toe on his left foot prevented him from taking on Michael Chandler in a return to the welterweight limit.

Forever linked with a decider against two-time opponent, Diaz, Dublin striker, McGregor has continually welcomed the opportunity to take on the Stockton veteran, ultimately to no avail yet.

However, announcing plans for an August return – if not a feature at The Las Vegas Sphere for a Riyadh Season Noche UFC event in September, McGregor’s plans have already been shot down by UFC boss, Dana White.

And ahead of his scrap with Masvidal inside the squared circle, Diaz has echoed his desire to take on the former duel-weight champion – as soon as UFC 306 – claiming a third bout between the two needs to take place sooner than later.

“I want to get this [Jorge Masvida] fight out of the way before I start thinking about the future,” Nate Diaz told Give Me Sport during a recent interview. “But I would like to fight him (Conor McGregor) and I would like to fight him in a rematch in MMA. At UFC 306, it would be great, if that were an option, but if not, then in the future, in the UFC, at some point.”

“I see it as a fight that needs to happen,” Nate Diaz continued. “We got the second out of the way, and the third should have happened straight away, also. And at some point, it’s going to happen.”
