“That’d be good, that’d be good, you know,” Leon Edwards told MMA Fighting of a fight with Conor McGregor. “It would be good to give him the opportunity – yeah, 100 percent, why not? I feel like let’s give him the opportunity to become [a] three-division world champion, [and] give me an opportunity to take out a guy like Conor (McGregor). You know, New York – that would be perfect.”

“That is the fight, you know,” Leon Edwards explained. “He goes out there and takes out Michael (Chandler), I take out ‘No One Remembers His Name’ and we’ll go from there. We’ll go to New York – MSG, let’s go. That’s the fight. That’s the fight, that’s the fight, I feel. You know, two of us have business to take care of. That’s the fight, that needs to happen. It should happen.”

Michael 'Venom' Page motivated to quiet 'Annoying' Ian Garry in potential UFC 303 scrap: 'I'd fight him next week'

If it gets him a fight with Ian Machado Garry, welterweight fan favorite Michael ‘Venom’ Page will step into the Octagon next week.

After failing to goad three-time title challenger Colby Covington into a fight at UFC 303 on June 29, Garry has turned his attention toward a potential scrap with the former Bellator MMA star. Speaking with Sky Sports, Page confirmed that he had verbally accepted the fight, though he made it clear that no contracts have been drawn up.

Still, ‘Venom’ is more than ready to sign on the dotted line and jump straight into camp if it means throwing hands with ‘The Future.’

“I’d fight [Ian] next week,” Page said. “If I have to lose x amount of weight for that fight, I’ll do it next week. It’s not a problem… I’ve never actually met him, but I never like to judge too much from a distance. But he inspires me to get in shape because he has an annoying air about him.

“If there was any motivation needed, it’s just him talking.”

‘Venom’ accuses ian Machado Garry of ‘riding the coattails’ of more famous fighters

Ever since it was announced that the promotion’s return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey would be headlined by the return of Conor McGregor, Garry has been desperate to get on the card to share the spotlight with his hero.

“He likes to just hang on the back of people’s coattails. He sees Conor McGregor and gets excited and now he has just changed it,” Page added.

As much as ‘Venom’ would love the opportunity to serve Garry a piece of humble pie on MMA’s biggest stage, it ultimately doesn’t matter who steps inside the cage with him, so long as it puts him one step closer toward a shot at the 170-pound title.

“So, it doesn’t matter if I fight this schmuck or some other schmuck,” Page said. “But either way, you know, I preferably like to go forward, you know. I want to be back in the title picture.”

MVP made his promotional debut at UFC 299 in March, scoring a win over Kevin Holland. The victory immediately thrust Page into the welterweight top-15, occupying the No. 13 spot — six spots behind Garry at No. 7.

It’s been nearly three years since Conor McGregor has stepped inside the Octagon.

That all changes on Friday, June 29th when the former two-division world champion returns to the main event spotlight at UFC 303. Emanating from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the Irish megastar will go toe-to-toe with former Bellator MMA champion ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler in a fight fans have been waiting for since it was first announced in early 2023.

Conor McGregor

With all the media obligations surrounding his feature film debut now in the books, McGregor is focusing on the task at hand — bagging his first win since January 2020. Recently, the ‘Mystic Mac’ shared some training footage, including a clip of him looking sharp and rocking his sparring partner.

McGregor also released a variety of photos from the same sparring session on Instagram.

Will Conor McGregor Climb back into the win column?

UFC 303 will be McGregor’s first time fighting since suffering a devastating leg injury in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021. ‘Mystic Mac’ has lost three of his last four bouts inside the Octagon, including his record-breaking encounter with former lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The last time he saw his hand raised was following a 40-second shellacking of UFC Hall of Famer Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246.

3 most anticipated fights of 2024

With this coming summer season set to bring some of the most high-profile fights of the year for the UFC, let’s take a look at the most anticipated bouts currently booked on paper ahead of a massive schedule for the sport leader.

Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier – UFC 302

Just mere weeks away, a huge undisputed lightweight title fight lands in Newark, New Jersey in June – with pound-for-pound number one, Islam Makhachev looking to rack up a third successful defense of his divisional title.

And matching with a fresh face following a pair of consecutive fights against former featherweight best, Alexander Volkanovski, dominant champion, Makhachev takes on the returning former interim champion, Dustin Poirier – who looks to strike it third time lucky in pursuit of an undisputed crown.

Earning his return to a title setting at UFC 302, Lafayette veteran, Poirier rallied against the surging, Benoit Saint Denis back in March – halting the Nimes native’s run through the division, with a highlight-reel KO win. Entering at number one on our list of the top three most anticipated bouts of the year – fans can bet on MMA fights – including Makhachev’s title defense against Poirier, up and until they enter the Octagon next month.

Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev – UFC Fight Night Saudi Arabia

Marking the promotion’s first foray to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker looks to keep his slot atop the division’s elite, and likely earn himself another shot at his former crown, as he takes on unbeaten berserker, Khamzat Chimaev.

Whittaker, a fan-favorite former undisputed titleholder at 185lbs – returned to winning ways back in February at UFC 298 against former championship chaser, Paulo Costa, battling over the course of three rounds to land himself a split judging victory.

As for Chimaev, the Chechnya-born starlet has admittedly lost a head of steam built up since his October decision win over former champion and pound-for-pound pacesetter, Kamaru Usman in Abu Dhabi. However, he can go a long way to generating massive backing for a title fight once more with a victory over a name like Whittaker.

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler – UFC 303

Arguably the most anticipated of these three fights we’ve chosen ahead of a huge summer period – especially for the mass audience and onlookers comes in the form of a return fight for ex-two-weight champion, Conor McGregor against rival, Michael Chandler at the end of next month at UFC 303 during International Fight Week.

Without a win since 2020 and sidelined for the last three years since a gruesome leg fracture, former undisputed lightweight and featherweight gold holder, McGregor makes his return to the welterweight limit of 170lbs in tandem with his entrance back to the Octagon.

For Chandler, the ex-Bellator MMA thrice-time lightweight gold holder will snap an almost two-year hiatus himself from active competition in his much-sought-after fight with the Dublin megastar, and with the added caveat of a first welterweight walk since a professional debut back in 2009, both have been flapping gums aplenty – with first round knockout predictions fielded by both.
