UFC star, Paddy Pimblett and his wife, Laura Gregory have welcomed a pair of twin daughters into the world this week – with the couple giving birth to Betsy and Margot, the Liverpool favorite revealed on his official social media.

Pimblett, currently boasting an unbeaten record since his move to the UFC three years ago, managed to capture global attention inside the mixed martial arts community after striking gold at the featherweight limit under the banner of Cage Warriors.

And making a long-overdue move to the Octagon back in 2021, Pimblett has so-far enjoyed an unbeaten tenure under the banner of the Dana White-led promotion, scoring back-to-back wins over Luigi Vendramini, Kazula Vargas, Jordan Leavitt, and Jared Gordon.

In his most high-profile outing, Huyton native, Pimblett turned in a decision win over former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 back in December, handing the Oxnard veteran a record-tying seventh straight loss.

Paddy Pimblett welcomes birth of twin daughters

Confirming plans to take time away from the sport with Laura and himself expecting the birth of twins, Pimblett confirmed the delivery of twin daughters on his official social media, amid links to a return on an official UFC 304 card in Manchester at the end of July this summer.

“17/4/2024 the day our lives changed forever,” Paddy Pimblett posted on his official Instagram account. “All worth it for yous 2 perfect little girls Betsy and Margot Pimblett.”

Receiving a pair of notable call outs following this month’s UFC 300 card in Las Vegas, Pimblett first came to the attention of veteran lightweight favorite, Bobby Green, who offered to fight the Liverpool native on enemy territory – after bludgeoning Jim Miller en route to a decision win.

Also on the preliminary card, Pimblett received an offer of a clash from Brazilian shot caller, Renato Moicano, who offered to meet him in July following his come-from-behind knockout success against Jalin Turner.

Tom Aspinall reacts to Ciryl Gane turning down heavyweight title fight at UFC 303 in Manchester

Tom Aspinall is planning to defend his interim heavyweight title on July 27 when the UFC returns to Manchester. We don’t yet know who it will be against, but it looks like we can already rule out Ciryl Gane.

On Tuesday, rumors began circulating that ‘Bon Gamin’ had rejected an offer to challenge Aspinall at UFC 304 because he would be busy shooting a movie this summer. Aspinall seemingly confirmed the rumor by asking his followers if anyone knew which film the ex-title challenger was set to appear in.

Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane

“Does anyone know which film Ciryl is filming?” Aspinall questioned on X.

A report from TalkSport revealed that a source “with knowledge of the situation” confirmed Gane turned down the opportunity to fight Aspinall this summer due to filming commitments.

It’s not the first time Ciryl Gane has been accused of ducking a fight with Tom Aspinall

It’s not the first time that Gane has been accused of turning down a fight with the UK-based heavyweight.

“He’s dismissed me on multiple occasions, and I’m not the first guy he’s dismissed,” Aspinall said about Gane during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour. I’m not the first guy that he’s ducked. It’s out there for people to see. The reason that I got the [Sergei] Pavlovich fight is because Ciryl didn’t want it. He ducked Pavlovich. He then ducked Curtis Blaydes. Curtis Blaydes has been on record saying that.

“I asked for him years ago. He didn’t want it then. Then I asked for him in Paris. They flew me over, we tried to make that fight. He didn’t want it then, and we’ll see what the UFC wants to do.”

Getting wind of Aspinall’s comments, Gane was quick to dispute the interim champ’s statement.

“Tom Aspinall, I never, ever say no to any challenge or any opponent,” Gane responded on social media. “Blaydes was never an option. They said Pavlovich, I said yes. Don’t worry, I’ll see you in September, stop tripping.”

The UFC is expected to return to Gane’s native France on September 28 for an event in Paris. Presumably, ‘Bon Gamin’ will be heavily featured on the card, but with the festivities going down a mere eight weeks after UFC 304, it’s unlikely that Tom Aspinall will be ready to go by then.

Sidelined in the aftermath of his devastating first round at UFC 300 earlier this month, light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira insists his fighting future is not directly in his hands off the back of the event, however, has not shied away from a potential July comeback to fight Tom Aspinall for interim heavyweight gold at UFC 304.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion and the light heavyweight division’s current pacesetter, headlined UFC 300 last weekend against former champion, Jamahal Hill, comfortably dispatching the Illinois native with a blistering first round KO win.

And in the immediate aftermath of his victory, Sao Paulo favorite, Pereira echoed calls for a potential UFC 301 comeback in just less than three weeks time in his native Brazil – in a potential heavyweight divisional debut

However, revealing a second fractured toe suffered in the first round of his bout with Hill – Pereira, who had fractured another toe even prior to his UFC 300 appearance, was ultimately ruled from a Rio de Janeiro return.

Rejecting an offer to meet with Russian contender, Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 308 in October, citing his preference for a quickfire return after emerging unscathed from his fight with Hill, Pereira explored the option of a July fight with British heavyweight star, Aspinall.

“I have to see what’s best for me, but I’m not alone,” Alex Pereira told MMA Fighting regarding a potential fight with Tom Aspinall in June. “I have my managers with me. I’m here, I’m like a gamecock – you put another rooster in front of me and I’m there to fight, and we will fight, you know?”

“But we have to see what’s best for me, my career, and my team,” Alex Pereira explained. “I’m open to fighting whoever, but I’m not the one who decides.”

Himself confirming the promotion’s return to the United Kingdom at the end of July for a Manchester pay-per-view event, Atherton native, Aspinall also revealed he would be fighting at UFC 304 in a homecoming, and was just waiting for his opponent to ink terms on a clash.

UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall confirms he will fight on next UK PPV card later this Summer.

Despite Jon Jones reigning as the UFC’s current undisputed heavyweight title holder, a strong argument could be made that is Aspinall who is the best big man in the world. The Brit would capture the interim title in November of last year, stopping the then No.1 ranked Sergei Pavlovich with a vicious flurry of punches in just over a minute.

With the division currently being held up with the cancellation of Jon Jones – Stipe Miocic and the subsequent lack of rebooking, Tom Aspinall would have to wait a lengthy amount of time for his shot at undisputed. Unless of course he were to take a fight in the meantime and defend his interim title.

Since his win over Pavlovich, Aspinall has been adamant that he wants to keep busy and in his latest post to social media announced he had got his wish. Aspinall would also confirm that the fight will take place on home soil in what will be the UFC’s return to the UK.

“I had a meeting with the UFC, it has now been confirmed that I am fighting on UFC Manchester, so I’m back home preparing for that now, started the early stages of training camp,” Tom Aspinall said.

“Just waiting for my opponent to accept so stay tuned and I’ll be announcing it soon.”

A likely candidate for Aspinall’s opponent would be former foe Curtis Blaydes. The two squared off in July 2022 but unfortunately Aspinall would suffer a torn ACL and the fight would come to a close after just 15 seconds.

Dustin Poirier confirms he will fight UFC star Islam Makhachev next time to reach the pinnacle

Former interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier has been continually linked with a championship siege against undisputed titleholder, Islam Makhchev ever since his March knockout win over Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 299. And has now confirmed he will stand opposite the Russian next.

Poirier, the current number three ranked lightweight contender and a former interim gold holder under the banner of the promotion, most recently co-headlined UFC 299 last month in a high-stakes clash against the above-mentioned, Saint Denis.

And returning to the winner’s enclosure following a hellacious high-kick KO defeat to two-time foe, Justin Gaethje last summer, Lafayette striker, Poirier turned in a second round rallying stoppage of his own, snapping the winning and finishing spree of Nimes native, Saint Denis.

Offered a championship challenge against Makhachev by the Russian’s manager, Dominance MMA leader, Ali Abdelaziz after his win over the Frenchman, Poirier has been linked with a June return against the incumbent at UFC 304 in Newark, New Jersey.

Already sharing his fair share of words with the American Kickboxing Academy staple, Poirier claimed that throughout their respective careers in mixed martial arts, he has easily achieved more than Makhachev – who in turn, claimed if Poirier was ever going to win lightweight spoils, he would have done so already.

Robert Whittaker recently said that he believes Leon Edwards did not perform to the best of his abilities in his rematch against Belal Muhammad at UFC 304.

“Rocky” relinquished his welterweight championship to Muhammad in his third title defense this Saturday at the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester, England. This was the second showdown between the two fighters, with their first encounter ending in a no-contest after an eye-poke rendered Muhammad unable to continue past the second round.

Muhammad came out strong in the first round, quickly securing a takedown that highlighted his wrestling dominance. His seamless combination of takedowns and boxing set the tone for the fight. In the second round, he intensified his assault, dropping the defending champion on his head and taking control by securing his back.

Edwards managed a comeback in the fourth round with aggressive striking, but the challenger quickly closed the distance, taking him down and maintaining a dominant position for most of the round. In a dramatic final push, Edwards reversed the position and unleashed a barrage of elbows, splitting Muhammad open.

Despite this late effort, it wasn’t enough to retain his belt, as the judges scored the fight 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46 in favor of “Remember the Name”, crowning him the new UFC welterweight champion.

This setback cost the Jamaican-born Englishman not only his title but also ended his impressive 13-fight unbeaten streak in the Octagon. “The Reaper” believes Edwards didn’t meet the high standards he has set for himself…

Whittaker Believes Edwards Wasn’t At His Best Against Muhammad

During a recent episode of the MMArcade Podcast, Whittaker analyzed the rematch between Edwards and Muhammad at UFC 304. The UFC middleweight champion conveyed his surprise at “Rocky’s” uncharacteristic struggle in the bout, noting that his performance starkly contrasted with his last two impressive showings against Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.

“I was surprised, not surprised like that Muhammad surprised me,” Whittaker said. “Yeah, no, you know what, I was surprised. I was surprised because Leon’s last two showings against Usman and Colby looked vastly different to the Leon that turned up against Muhammad. Now, what does that mean? Because I don’t want to take away from Belal just turning up and honestly dominating Leon Edwards. Like, he belted him in the stand-up. He put that constant pressure, was punching him up.”

Whittaker went on to say that Muhammad’s performance may have caught Edwards off guard, as he possibly underestimated how formidable his opponent would be.

“I am wondering why Leon had no answer for it because we saw him go up against the likes of Usman, we saw him go up against the likes of Colby, and both guys couldn’t do that. Was it because Belal is a much bigger welterweight? He looked strong in that. I don’t want to take away because it was such a good showing from Belal, but it was such a—like, did he shut down that hard that he made Leon look bad, or was it because Leon was off? He said he felt lethargic or whatever.”

In his post-fight Octagon interview, “Rocky” revealed that he struggled with fatigue in the days leading up to UFC 304, as he attempted to acclimate to the unusual fight schedule in Manchester.

Edwards made it clear that he doesn’t plan to dwell on the loss. He is eager to return to the Octagon later this year, though his next opponent remains uncertain.
