Undisputed light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira has echoed claims that two-time Octagon rival, Israel Adesanya has zero interest in fighting him for a third time in the promotion, urging fans and pundits to forget about a trilogy clash between the duo.

Pereira, a former middleweight titleholder and current light heavyweight champion, has been sidelined for the last two months, most recently headlining UFC 300 in the first defense of his 205lbs crown.

Taking on former divisional champion, Jamahal Hill in the event’s main event, Sao Paulo striker, Pereira laid waste to the returning Illinois native with a devastating opening round knockout, which has been a sore spot for the Dana White’s Contender Series product to date.

As for Adesanya, the former two-time middleweight gold holder has yet to feature since UFC 293 back in September, suffering a one-sided unanimous decision defeat to common-foe, Sean Strickland in an upset title fight loss.

Alex Pereira talks failed Israel Adesanya title trilogy

Holding three professional combat sports wins over Nigerian-Kiwi striker, Adesanya – including a fifth round knockout win at the middleweight limit at UFC 281, Pereira claims he has tired his best – ultimately to no avail, to strike a trilogy fight with the City Kickboxing staple a division higher.

“I’m a fighter, I’m ready to fight, no matter what,” Alex Pereira continued.

Claiming Jamahal Hill “reaped what he had sown” as a result of his UFC 300 knockout loss two months ago, light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira has questioned if the former had just “woke up” from the stoppage loss, after his complaints two months after the matchup.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion and the current light heavyweight titleholder, headlined UFC 300 most recently back in April, welcoming the above-mentioned Hill back from a ruptured achilles injury for the first time.

“To be honest, I don’t get why he’s (Jamahal Hill) doing this so late,” Alex Pereira told Fox Sports Australia. “It’s been almost two months. People usually do that right away, but maybe he just woke up from the knockout.”

“It’s kind of like you harvest what you seed,” Alex Pereira explained. “During Glover’s (Teixeira) fight, he was respectful. Glover, he got respect at the end. With us, he was a bit more disrespectful – so he got what he put on.”

Former two-time middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has claimed he is “dialled in” in new training footage, amid continued links to a UFC 305 title siege against arch-rival, Dricus du Plessis in the promotion’s return to Australia.

Adesanya, a former two-time middleweight titleholder and prior title challenger at the light heavyweight limit, has been out of action since UFC 293 back in September of last year in the organization’s last trip ‘Downunder’.

Setting an unwanted record in the process, City Kickboxing star, Adesanya became the first champion in Octagon history to drop his belt twice in the space of a calendar year, in the form of a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Sean Strickland – who prevailed with a decision win over Paulo Costa at UFC 302 over the weekend.

And linked with another immediate title fight comeback in his return from his sidelining, Adesanya has been suggested as an ideal candidate to headline UFC 305 in August, with a title grudge fight against du Plessis reportedly in the works for the RAC Arena in Perth.

Since then, Illinois native, Muhammad has turned in notable consecutive victories over the likes of Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson, Vicente Luque, Sean Brady, and the above-mentioned, Burns.

Snatching undisputed welterweight gold from former pound-for-pound number one, Kamaru Usman back in the summer of 2022 with a highlight-reel, rallying fifth round high-kick KO win, Edwards would defeat the Auchi native in London last year in a close majority decision victory in the pair’s trilogy rubber match.

UFC 304 takes place on July 27. from the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England – with the undisputed welterweight title fight between Edwards and Muhammad slated to take headlining honors.
