Things between Tai Tuivasa and Junior dos Santos seem to be getting a bit personal.

Tuivasa and “JDS” will headline UFC Adelaide on December 1st from Adelaide, Australia. Recently, the Brazilian was interviewed by Sporting News to discuss his upcoming fight with Tuivasa.

“Cigano” took issue with Tuivasa having Bruce Buffer introduce him as representing street fighting. He went as far as calling his Australian counterpart a “coward”:

“In his last fight, with Arlovski, when Bruce Buffer was introducing him, he said he represents street fighting,” dos Santos said. “I was watching the fight last night, and saw that and was like, ‘What?! That’s not even a martial art.’

“I thought I was fighting against a martial artist, but that’s not the case. I want to know more about this, and one day I’ll ask him. To represent street fighting, that’s just stupid. Who fights in the streets? It’s not even fair. That’s a coward. Street fighting is not a martial art – it doesn’t exist. How can someone represent street fighting –- that’s bullshit.”

Tuivasa recently responded to dos Santos’ comments in an Instagram post, referencing the Brazilian’s failed United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test, calling him a “steroid injecting little muppet”:

“I was giving him credit for being a great, but he can go (expletive) himself now. Just because of what Bruce Buffer said? As if I’m gonna say I’m a black belt or something. Calling someone a coward is a bit shallow from a steroid injecting little muppet like that.”

Recently, Tai Tuivasa expressed his shock that Carlos Felipe got flagged for steroid use. To quote the bewildered Aussie, “How did he get done for steroids? He’s fat as shit!”

But when it came to Junior dos Santos four years ago, Tuivasa had no trouble believing that JDS was a cheater. And in response to some criticisms from dos Santos, Tuivasa decided to share that belief with the world.

Tai Tuivasa has fired back at Junior dos Santos.

Tuivasa and dos Santos will collide on Dec. 2 in the main event of UFC Adelaide. The action will take place inside the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia. It’s a huge opportunity for Tuivasa, who is the 11th ranked UFC heavyweight, while dos Santos sits at the seventh spot.

Tai Tuivasa Slams JDS Over Recent Comments

In a recent interview, dos Santos made an odd remark about Tuivasa. He criticized “Bam Bam” for having UFC announcer Bruce Buffer say he represents street fighting. The harsh and bizarre critique prompted Tuivasa to blast dos Santos in a recent interview with Sporting News:

“I was giving him credit for being a great, but he can go f**k himself now, Just because of what Bruce Buffer said? As if I’m gonna say I’m a black belt or something. Calling someone a coward is a bit shallow from a steroid injecting little muppet like that. He can say whatever he wants to say, as long he brings it. It’s all gonna happen anyway, regardless of what any of us says. But to be calling someone a coward is shallow coming from a cheater. Make sure you’re not juiced up.”

UFC Adelaide will also see Mark Hunt look to rebound from his submission loss to Aleksei Oleinik last month. To do so, he’ll need to get past Justin Willis, who has gone 3-0 inside the Octagon.

Do you think Junior dos Santos is reaching with his criticism of Tai Tuivasa?

Shogun Rua’s return is being targeted for an upcoming UFC event later this year.

ESPN is reporting that the UFC is targeting a light heavyweight bout between Tyson Pedro and former UFC champion Rua for UFC Fight Night 142, also known as UFC Adelaide. An official announcement has not yet been released.

Rua is looking redemption as he was on a three-fight winning streak before stepping inside of the Octagon for his latest fight. As seen in the main event of UFC Hamburg (also known as UFC Fight Night 134) that took place at Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany, Anthony Smith was able to score a KO win over the former UFC light heavyweight champion.

The finish of the fight saw Smith land some brutal shots in 89 seconds with a flurry of punches and a vicious elbow that left him unconscious. He is 6-6 since dropping the light heavyweight title to Jon Jones in March 2011.

On the flip side, Pedro will attempt to rebound after suffering a loss in his most recent bout. He suffered a first-round submission defeat against Ovince Saint Preux at UFC Fight Night 132 in June.

Mark Hunt returns to action at the upcoming UFC Adelaide event.

Hunt will head to his native Australia for his farewell fight. The respected knockout slugger will take on Justin Willis at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 142 event. Willis made the announcement on his Instagram and the bout was reported by ESPN.com.

Mark Hunt Returns

Willis started his career with a loss in 2012 but has won every fight since then. He extended his winning streak to seven back in April with a decision win over Chase Sherman in New Jersey. Once he competes against Hunt, it will mark his biggest-name opponent yet.

Hunt lost his last bout in the Octagon. Aleksei Oleinik was able to secure a first-round submission win over the UFC veteran in the main event of September 15’s UFC Moscow.

Hunt has gone 1-3-1 in his last five bouts. The streak includes losses to Brock Lesnar, which was later ruled a no-contest, Alistair Overeem, and Curtis Blaydes. His only victory coming over Derrick Lewis last June in New Zealand. There has been a major issue between Hunt and the UFC, which dates back to his fight against Lesnar.
